Had to get my snow shovel out again today, third time this month. \'/ \'/ \'/ \'/ \'/ It is so much easier to scoop the leaves up then to have to bend over!

Tom, Check out the CKM group, they are a bunch of local modelers who can probably help you out. They put on a great show every August and you would be missing a lot if you don't go. If you make your way down to Archdale, stop in at KC's Hobbies, they are a nice bunch of people and might have a few suggestions as well.

Suggestion: Trading post
mikemodeler replied to Jeremy Jon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can honestly say that I have avoided trades with those members outside the 48 continental US states due to shipping costs and time involved. I wish there was an easier way to trade with those outside of the US. I ordered a piece of automotive test equipment from a China based company and it took nearly 30 days to get it. Next time I will look for a US based so I don't have to wait as long. -

Resin '66-'77 Ford Bronco from Gregg
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I guess I better learn how to read, I thought the deal was to sell 5 on eBay and the rest were going to be sold through the website. I kept checking the pinned post and website for updates as it originally stated they would have ordering information soon. Thanks for posting the eBay links. I am not an "eBay-er" so I guess I can put the $50 towards something else............ -
Has anyone heard anything more on the availability of the resin Bronco that Gregg teased us with back in October? The link in the pinned post does not contain anything new and I never could find the first 5 kits on eBay. I am interested in buying one of these but my interest is fading. Any information is appreciated.

'64 chev 2wd to 4wd
mikemodeler replied to dieseldawg142's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Good points there Dan. I was planning on going about stock height and keeping the straight six, maybe add the plow from the 77 GMC kit, weather it a bit. -

I started playing around with an AMT 60 Chevy conversion to 4WD last week. Will be watching this closely, might have to create my own axles and leaf springs instead of using the axles out of the Revell 77 GMC pickup. -
History of AMT & MPC's Action Line Pickup Kits
mikemodeler replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I believe that was issued after the original yellow and white re-issue in the 90's and before the "hot trucks' series that had a blue and white version. -
That does it, I am ordering one of those camper kits as a birthday present to myself! That is one sweet looking model, hard to believe it is resin!

Resin casting parts - legal?
mikemodeler replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I will put on my attorney hat for a minute as it relates to patent law. Now I am not an attorney, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night. But I did pay for and receive 4 patents for an item I designed and still hope to sell.(BTW, paying a patent attorney and related costs can get expensive!) It was explained to me that all one has to do is deviate approximately 5% from an original design/patent and there is no infringement. Translate that to resin casting and some one will figure a way to copy a copy. It can be argued whether copying someone else's work is an infringement and I would say yes, it is, but reality is it would be costly to pursue legal action. -
Revell is reissuing the 'Can-Do' (Steeps) tow truck...
mikemodeler replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
They typically will put all kits on sale at some point before Christmas. I know the coupon is a better deal but that is for one kit while the sale applies to multiple purchases. I would like to see the Wrecker kit there, although I doubt they will considering the last wrecker kit they had was the Italeri LA County kit that they had to mark down to get rid of. I had hoped they were going to have the recent reissued 77 GMC Wrecker kit but did not. -
This subject came up today as i am 4 weeks away from my 50th birthday. My teenager daughter says she is looking forward to my birthday and me getting an AARP card so we can get discounts. I reminded her that in my case, AARP will take on a new meaning when she brings a boy home- Armed And Really Pissed !

5 model cars or trucks you wish were made.
mikemodeler replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
how about these?: 1) 68-71 Dodge pickup with 2wd & 4wd drivetrains 2) 67-72 GM pickups with 2wd & 4wd drivetrains (leave the emblems off the body and offer them as photoetch to maximize tooling) 3) 66-77 Ford Bronco with full and half cab options 4) 60's era IH pickups or Scouts 5) Medium Duty Wrecker kit -
Glad I waited to order some stuff from you, looks like I have a couple more add ons!

Anxious to see the pictures Nick as several friends had cars on display there this year. I am thinking I might have to save some money and vacation time to attend next year.

History of MPC's Rounded Line Trucks
mikemodeler replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I believe that truck came with the 4.3L V-6 that was found in the S-10 pickups starting in 1988. Previously the 6 cylinder engine in the GM pickups was the old L-6 250 c.i. Stringent emissions standards rendered the L-6 obsolete as it had a carb. Longbox55 will know for sure, he seems to have vast knowledge on these vintage trucks. I would buy a case of these if you offered them up Tom, resin or styrene! -
roof mount light bars
mikemodeler replied to Tesla's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That could work, although service vehicles tend to have simple lightbars compared to emergency vehicles. If I ever get a chance to sit at the workbench, I might be able to create what I want. Do you know if clear resin is available for casting?
