  1. Wow, beautiful piece of modeling, Mike! I'm working on a 1/24 scale version right now.
  2. I suspect it's the unusual random looking combination of letters that somehow triggers the spam filter.
  3. George, perhaps you are confusing the Boss 429 with the 427 SOHC? The wires on the SOHC go in through the top of the valve covers. SOHC
  4. I almost mentioned the V8 Supercars (the Aussie NASCAR) - good stuff!
  5. I might be in the minority here, but the racing series that I enjoy most are F1, ALMS, WRC and DTM.
  6. I recently put the spark plug holes in the wrong location on a SB Chevy - that's what I get for being a Ford guy, right? And the build is too far along to turn back now.
  7. The car on the right? That's a Peugeot 302.
  8. A friend of mine owns a few Tatras, including a 603. If you have specific requests, I can try to get you more photos.
  9. Sounds to me like it's got a clog somewhere. I'd disassemble it as much as you can, clean with solvent, then reassemble and blow solvent through it.
  10. Here you go, Willie: Model Car World Automotive Finishes: MCW
  11. Thanks - both colors on my build came from MCW: #2007 Blue and #2002 Gold. Listed under David Pearson in the racing paint section.
  12. Thanks - the blue circles and Goodyear markings are Fred Cady decals (no longer available, of course). I think there's another company (Speedline, maybe?) that's making some now.
  13. Here's one I did from the Polar Lights kit.
  14. I recently acquired this Protar bicycle kit: I know there were a few other bikes made, so I'm curious to find out what the other kits in the series might have been, when they were released or any other good info. A Google search only turns up a few tidbits. Anybody got a catalog from that era they can reference?
  15. I'm no expert on the economics of the model car industry, but I think this could be a growing market for the model companies. A lot of us have commented on the fact that we have enough kits to last us a few lifetimes of building, or that we're out of room for more kits, but an attractive package of cool parts (we all know that tires and wheels can make a model) seems like a winner, especially for the adult market. I would also think that lower tooling costs (and in many cases the use of existing tooling) would factor into the equation.
  16. Just got mine in the mail today - a really excellent issue! Lots of great stuff in there. The Fordson tractor isn't the kind of subject that would ordinarily do much for me, but the guy's attention to detail and workmanship is just incredible - a true madman, and I mean that only in the best way!
  17. I realized the OP was asking about A4s, but since we've veered off into other Audi territory, here's a Welly TT diecast that I repainted and put different wheels on.
  18. Thanks for the tips, guys. Just picked some up today at my LHS. I'm going to try using it as a base for vacu-forming a windshield.
  19. True, I joined long ago and I was occasionally lurking here, but lacked the motivation and willpower to learn a different board format until recently - 'nuff said.
  20. Just my two cents: it's the internet - there's always going to be a certain amount of drama and you can take as seriously or non seriously as you like. I will say that because of the format here, it's generally easier to avoid the drama, if that's your intention. I've only been on here the better part of the last two weeks, but mostly what I've been seeing is people showing their models and talking about them. That's the reason I'm here.
  21. Here's a full detail one I did a few years back. Just as it came in the box except for a little BMF on the sides.
  22. In fact what he was doing was removing the side cover to show off some more of the engine and he admitted to being somewhat nervous. I guess it turns out that he didn't have too much to worry about - I think he won everything that he was up for. I have to say that I was struck by how humble Randy, John Teresi and all the other winners at GSL were.
  23. Got mine edited & uploaded: http://public.fotki.com/Roullier/other_peoples_model_cars/gsl-xxiii/ I didn't get shots of everything (it was pretty overwhelming), but made several passes around the room and tried to get shots of what caught my eye. Below: Randy Derr does model building as a spectator sport.
  24. Big F1 and road racing fan here. Nice build!
