B.R.B.O. Dodge CNT 900
landman replied to landman's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Since the fan is not attached to the engine it needed to be attached to the rad. The exhaust supports were attached to the pieces of frame I had cutoff, relocated them to a spot just behind the cab. -

My mistake, I actually shortened it. The intake pipe was what all the figgerin' was about. -

A little bit of engineering and a whole bunch of "figgerin'" and "fiddlin'". Worked on the air duct until it pretty well goes where it should. Would be easier with an open hood. Drilled some recesses in the wheels to accept the axle stubs. Extended the driveshaft using the magic sleeve method. -

Sean, Gator, I kept it tandem because all the car haulers I see here are. I remember seeing some single drive tractors on car haulers but haven't seen any in a long time. Now, having said this, I'll likely see one tomorrow. -

Shortened the frame by about 28". Playing with configurations. Still debating about a single inboard stack or double outboards. -
Thank you sir.

Nice work Brian. What is the source of the turbine?

Added an air line from the compressor. Using some styrene and the air intake tubing of the Pete I'm attempting to bring a duct to the general location of the exterior cowl mounted filter. I was tempted to build a bracket and put the filter sideways on the engine but it wouldn't look right without its external filter -

I'm contemplating it but I am chicken. I have bought both the rod/tubing to do them Guitarsam style and the small phoenix hinges to do them with pre-assembled hinges. I want to practise with scrap plastic first. -

Added a transmission support crossmember and some cab supports. It sits pretty well now. Relocated the Snap's battery box bottoms to under the doors. They will become tank supports. -

Who made it? -
Looks like it is from OZ. Models 4 U. Made by Drake, or rather will be made by Drake.

Ditto.

Thanks for the encouragement Mike. I wasn't going to quit but I don't take myself too seriously. There is some real high end builds going on here. -
Hey Tom, what is the source of those covers?

Cut off the platform at Old Buckaroo's suggestion. The cab sits better like this, thanks for the tip. Swapped the transmission for the one that was on the 8V71 I put in my engine shop dio. Added some small angle to the insides of the frame where the platform was removed. I have to either come up with a drive belt for the fan or stick an electric motor into it. I'm thinking of shortening the wheelbase a bit. I think I will thin out the grille casting to move the cab back a few millimeters. Looks like there is enough meat. -

Beautiful work Ken. That is almost enough to make me want to withdraw mine from the competition. On the other hand, can you confirm this: the small lines are electrical wires and the larger one hydraulic correct? -
