  1. I like this car a lot. Nice touch with turning the headlights around! Being from Canada and never being at the "lakes", was this a common treatment to reduce wind drag?
  2. Thanks very much guys!
  3. Hi guys. Yes, those wheel covers are buttons...they mimicked some of the other lines/openings on the car. The model was built in 1989 and still together today. Probably my best effort ever. Thanks for looking.
  4. By the way......Happy Birthday John! Go celebrate with a new kit/build!
  5. Cool old sedan. I had this kit many times back in the sixties and I loved it! Yours looks really nice...brings back good memories.
  6. Great looking model!
  7. Wow!! What a memory you have! That was a long time ago for sure, around 1990. Is this the Merc you remember?
  8. Hi Al. I have a photo of the Studdy's drag mate, the ZZ Top '33 Ford turned into a nitro class Altered. These cars were tons of fun back in the day.
  9. Hi John. Lots of memory cells MIA but I think I remember you. Of course, we were MUCH younger then! haha
  10. Another fun project from the past. Chopped the top, scratchbuilt the rear wing, and added the hood scoop from the Matt and Debby Hay T-bird. Again, not overly fast, but SO much fun to build and race.
  11. Long time ago, there was a local slot/drag strip here in London Ont. There were lots of classes to run in, and this was my "nostalgia" entry. At this timeI built a few cars in different classes, and none of them were very fast, but were a TON of fun to build and race.
  12. Jim. Great model. Great colour. Great outdoor shot! Really nice!
  13. It rained today, so I spent quality time at the bench. I beefed up the front engine mount with bracing and gussets, shortened the driveshaft, and had to slightly tweek the tail of the tranny, but now the drivetrain falls beautifully in place. Thanks for your encouraging words.
  14. Looking wicked Stan! Ya gotta love a small car with tubs! Cheers.
  15. Ever have one of THOSE days? While mocking up the drivetrain to measure the driveshaft length, I heard a little "snap". Turns out it was the front engine mount, and it had to be remade. End of the drama. Also made spring shackles for the rear axle/springs, which I had to add 3 more leafs to get the proper ride height. All in all, a good day at the bench.
  16. What Peekay said ×2!!
  17. Wow! The side profile really grabbed me. What a cool concept!
  18. Cool eh? Born in Hamilton also, then lived in Guelph, now in London Ontario. Sure wished we had more hobby shops. Now pardon me while I go for a beer and some back bacon eh? hahaha
  19. Hello. The drivetrain for the modified is : Engine: Scratchbuilt 270 cu. in. Offy with Hilborn (rip) injection. Transmission: '87 Thunderbird Turbo coupe Halibrand quick-change
  20. Hello. Several parts were painted yesterday, so I'm slowly moving forward. The plan is to paint the car in black, with red and grey upholstery. And to clarify....I live in London ONTARIO. I've been kinda laying low for quite some time, and it surprised me to see lots of other Canadians on this site. I feel motivated to get model building! Thanks for the nice reception!
  21. John. Perhaps in the next life, I would have a tiny bit of your talent! That is beyond words beautiful!
  22. Hello again. This photo shows the frame with engine, driveshaft and Halibrand q.c. The driveshaft needs to be shortened allowing me to install the rear spring (not shown). The '37 phantom cab-over is a project from the same era as the Offy. Thought I'd dig it out and think about details and paint. Thanks for looking.
  23. What a stunning hot rod! The entire car is beautiful, but the interior knocks it out of the park! Love your work.
  24. I have been watching the builders on this site, and a few of you are such excellent builders, that makes this hobby a real joy! I always like your work Bernard. Love that old school style a lot!
  25. Thank you all for your positive responces. I'm really happy to know you like my work. The Offy engine was built 23 years ago, when I was deep into building. It's probably my most ambitious piece. I learned a long time ago, not to throw away any model related parts, as I might want them sometime in the future. The Halibrand rear end is such a piece. I had a feeling that this project would be special, and your replies have proven me right. I can't thank you enough!
