  1. I have read several posts on (I can't remember which) modelling websites regarding the useof Apple Barrell acrylics. I'm looking to broaden the selection of colors I have for a '37 Ford interior. I tried some blue Apple Barrell acrylic. The coverage doesen't seem to match up to a Tamaya. Any comments?
  2. Wow! That is sweet! Nice work!!
  3. It's great to be semi-retired and live only 10 minutes from Hobby Lobby. Thanks to the message I hurried up with my coupon in hand and brought home a new set of wheels.
  4. I agree with the majority--snow! When the ground is covered with that flakey stuff in Kansas it is a great time for glue and plastic. Have a Merry Christmas. I've already taken my wife on a "gift list field trip" to Hobby Lobby!!
  5. I have issues #26-#57 of the Plastic Fanatic magazine. I believe this was the predecessor to Model Cars. I have too many magazines. Is anyone interested in these back copies. If interested, let me know and we'll discuss arrangements.
  6. Christmas is coming!! When will the new shirts be available by mail order? Thanks.
  7. You are right about Model Cars being a great magazine. Like many of you I also receive SAE. That magazine seems to be on a diet--it keeps shrinking!! We have read the reasons i.e, fewer hobbyists, fewer advertisers. While SAE seems to be on a "diet", MCM seems to be gaining in size and strength. Yeah!! Keep up the good work!!
  8. Thanks for your info. While my water heater and furnace are gas fired, my hobby room is completely enclosed and insulated. The hobby room also has a window. So when I am painting the window will be open to the north. The vent will run to the west. While my wife supports nd encourages my hobby she also has a super-sensitive nose. I think my many precautions will be good for me and the environment!!!.
  9. I am completing a new basement hobby room. My spray booth will be on the wall opposite the workbench. I will vent the box outside. The easiest route for the vent pipe will make it about 6 feet long to get outside. I will use smooth walled metal ducting. Due to a gas pipe and the wrong direction for floor joists the hardest route would be two feet up and out. Is there any concern about the efficiency of the vent as it relates to the length of the vent pipe? Thanks in advance for the insight!!
  10. Well Brian from you description of your location, "smack dab in da' middle" that means you must be somewhere in Kansas. Tell me where. Welcome to a great site. I'v been modelling science 1956 and still learn every time I visit the site.
  11. Thanks for info. I knew it had been several years since there had been a calendar. Now I guess I have to look for a 1:1 car calendar.
  12. Can I look forward to the opportunity to purchase a 2007 Model Cars Magazine calendar? My new hobby room will soon be complete. A car calendar from one of my favorite magazines would be a nice finishing touch!! What do you think??
  13. Thanks for the quick reply. Nice photos. It's obvious you like the hobby and do good work.
  14. In a recent issue there was a good "how to" article on building a paint rack from a cutlery drawer divider. I can't find my copy of the magazine but I remember the divider was purchased at Lowes. What was the specific name and price for that item. I want to purchase one or two for a hobby room I will soon be building. Maybe I can find the magazine then?!?!?! Thanks
  15. Spare me the this liberal junk. This is a hobby site for relaxation and fun. Find another site for your idiotic, biased, ranting and raving. Thanks.
  16. The project continues to look great. Can I see some pics of the shop? My stuff has been packed for 12 months. Now I'm in a new location and ready to build a new plastic room. I'm always looking for ideas. Thanks.
  17. Age doesn't matter. I am 62 and been modelling since age 14. I just returned from my local Michaels Grand Opening with a new kit. Never too old for more plastic. I plan to live a long time to justify to my wife the purchase of those 125 kits in my stash. Have fun! Bruce in Topeka
  18. I have read about a group of modelers who meet after hours somewhat irregularly in a hobby shop in Lawrence, Kansas. I am moving to that area and would like to join in the fun, learn, share and help promote the hobby. Can anyone tell me when and where? I promise not to reveal my source of information?!?!?!
  19. You should be proud of this one. So, how did you get the heat discoloration on the headers? Is that green pipping on the seats? Is it telephone wire?. Your work should be a challend to "wanna be" contest modelers. Thanking you inadvance for the info!!
  20. Where or how did you come up with that neat license plate? If you tell me you created it yourself I will be glad to commission a few for some of my future projects.
  21. I really appreciate the photos of projects on the workbench. There never will be too many pictures!! But I would also be interested in seeing your workbench. I am about to build a new bench in a new space in a different house in Toepka, KS. I finally get to unpack kits, tools, magazines and move in. So I'm looking for ideas for a new bench.
  22. Gregg the mag is always great and you have always been very hepful. So now I'm online as well. I'm "techno challenged" but will try to follow directions on this site. I'll be here often.
