  1. It's all virgin styrene, meaning it's never been heat-molded and is very soft. There is no "styrene dust" when I cut into the stuff, any more than there's "cheese dust" when you cut into cheese.
  2. You would say that. (Look at his avatar. ) Seriously, nice trio. What's not to like? Model on!
  3. Yes, I did a short test reply on it the other day. That's when I started playing with doing it a sentence at a time. And that eventually worked, more or less.
  4. At first I thought it might have been rejecting the word "swastika" in my post (even though it was in the OP), so tried it substituting [tail] instead. Still wouldn't take the whole post. So I pasted in one sentence at a time, and that seemed to work. All but the last sentence of my second paragraph. It never would accept that. I have no idea why.
  5. Well of course. A nice METAL one, too. And I don't use glass, I use styrene (I have a LOT of the stuff). Much easier on the blade itself. It doesn't lose any measurable amount of stickiness. Not at all.
  6. Several months ago at the local toy show I bought a box of "Scrambler Project." It's a bunch of parts from two copies of the late Testor issue of the kit. One body has had some of the trim removed and is heavily painted. The other body is unpainted and unmolested except for the roof has been chopped off and the windshield posts chopped down to about half stock height. There's only one trunk lid in the box. One of the hoods has a blower hole cut in it, the other has a Chevy cowl induction lump grafted on. A trunk lid for this car shouldn't be TOO hard to fabricate (I can always vacuform the one I have). I believe there are enough parts to build two complete cars, though, sadly, not a stock one. Maybe a "gasser" and a factory "concept custom" of some kind. Someday I should post a pic of what I have to work with and ask for suggestions for what I can do with the mess.
  7. Probably as much as it would take to drive the Mars Rover over to where the Astronauts planted the flag.
  8. That is exactly why I always used razor-cut strips anytime the edge is important.
  9. They sound like EXCELLENT airgun targets! And cat food!
  10. No. But today he is running for the United States Senate.
  11. And while they have the Fixit Ticket book out, they'll probably write you up for "obstructed vision" for that hood, too.
  12. Only took me a minute to find that they DO exist--or DID, anyway: http://chuckmost.wixsite.com/madhouse-miniatures/single-post/2016/05/03/JoHan-1969-SCRambler
  13. Fabulous! Magnificent! (Let's hope this thread doesn't get banished to the Diecast Gulag.)
  14. I have two or three of these things, from around 1963 or '64 or so.
  15. I think I had an electric 911 when I was about 14. It was made by Aurora and was HO scale.
  16. Channeling Dave Barry, "Zebra Force" would be an excellent name for a rock band!
  17. I've been getting along for years now with whatever masking tape Walmart sells--I think it's usually Duck brand. The trick to getting good results is to lay it out and razor-cut the edges. I usually cut a bunch of thin strips at the same time, and use those for all edge masking, and then use it "stock" from the roll for filling in larger areas.
  18. Fred Cady's been OOB for a while, so the only place to get them is by trading or eBay.
  19. What are you going to do for the body?
  20. Baby you're much too fast!
  21. The 2LB '55 can be built from the AMT sedan kit or the Revell diecast. I'm planning to do one soon.
  22. No, no, I was thinking of a certain personality on this side of the pond. He introduced me to the poem on his radio program.
  23. Still no luck with it today. Though I was able to post a response, just not the actual response I wanted to post. Immediately after, it STILL wouldn't take it. So I started experimenting. I starting posting it in one sentence at a time. And then editing in the next sentence, and so forth. I eventually got the whole post posted, except for one sentence. Why it doesn't like that one, I have absolutely NO idea.
  24. I used to clear-coat everything. Now I prefer to polish the color coat itself if I think I can get away with it. BUT this requires planning. Quite a lot depends on the shapes and contours of the car itself, and the color, and the type of paint, and even how the paint is applied. Can't do it every time, but it sure looks great when I can pull it off.
