  1. And how about the two Revell Parts Packs double kits of cars? Would especially like to have that Fiat back.
  2. Absolutely beautiful, a really stunning piece of work! Model on!
  3. I've seen it four or five times, and I barely remember it...certain scenes and lines, yes, but the main plot (was there one?), not so much....
  4. Nothing wrong with black (is that a '66 or '67 Acadian? Very cool!), but when you say that everything looks best in black, it kinda sorta misses the point of this particular thread, I think....
  5. Mark, once again you prove that you are an absolute GEM and SUPERSTAR of old kit knowledge. I knew that there were some differences between the AMT AWB frames--mainly in the suicide vs. dual leaf front end setups--but didn't realize there were so many. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge with us!
  6. Good choice, but I'd prefer its forerunner '57 kit. But you're right about the variations, everything from factory stock to Bonneville!
  7. I could do multiple versions of AMT's original annual '66 or '67 Corvette roadsters. Lotsa cool custom and racing parts in those kits--no two would look alike!
  8. I love projects, rescues, and restos, and especially resto projects using only leftover junk on hand. Fabulous work, and model on!
  9. He didn't critique your opinion. He gave his opinion. Whole different thing. By "silky black," do you mean satin/semigloss/flat/primer black? That looks really good on certain cars.
  10. When I need good lovin' I always come home to you....
  11. No more calls, please, we have a winner!
  12. Good call, especially for 427 Cobras and '67 Shelby Mustangs.
  13. To me, there are several colors '69 Camaros look good in, and Fathom Green is high on the list. I'm working on a "set" of Fathom Green '69 Camaro and Nova. The bodies are painted, I just need to finish the chassis and interiors. The Camaro will get a Dark Green gut, while the Nova will get Medium Green--even though that color wasn't available in the kit's "deluxe" interior. The Camaro was painted with MCW FG, the Nova with Testor's interpretation of the color.
  14. I wish there were. I'd use it on quite a few things. If you were airbrushing, I'd say Model Master Olds Engine Blue. It would at least be a good starting point. But they don't have it in spray cans. The closest spray color I can think of would be Model Master Nassau Blue. It's a little light and not quite blue enough to my eye, but maybe it looks good to you. Here's what it looks like on one of my recent builds (deliberately left flat to simulate aging paint):
  15. Are there certain cars that you think look best in one particular color? I have several such favorite combinations: *'67-'68 Firebirds and '68 GTO: Verdoro Green. Maybe the '69s, too. *'68 Mustang fastback: Highland Green. *'69 Mustang: Silver Jade *'67 Corvette: Marina Blue or Milano Maroon. *'57 Chevy: Harbor Blue/Larkspur Blue two-tone. *'61-'62 Corvette and '62 Chevy: Honduras Maroon. *'66 Mustang: Emberglow. *'69 GTO Judge: Anything other than Carousel Red (orange) just looks wrong. *'67 Chevelle: Tahoe Turquoise. What are yours?
  16. Another favorite series is the original AMT annual Corvette Sting Rays, 1963-67. There was some really good stuff in those kits that hasn't survived to the present day. Of the ten different kits (coupes and roadsters, five different years), hard to pick ONE favorite. I think I like the roadsters better than the coupes--they had some extra optional goodies. Maybe the '67 roadster, which included a panel wagon top AND the optional factory hardtop.
  17. Kiss You All Over, Exile.
  18. Testor/Model Master now has several flesh tones in their line. But I've painted many figures using either their Wood or one of their generic light tans for flesh.
  19. These are different and therefore interesting! If you look at enough pics of old gassers and altereds, you learn that almost nothing is "too outlandish" that back in the day, somebody, somewhere, didn't run something very similar, if not even more outrageous!
  20. One of the more interesting DD Fiats I've seen. Did you shorten the kit's too-long nose along with your other changes? I can't tell. In one pic it looks shortened but in another it doesn't. Nice job either way.
  21. Somebody makes a non-scooped hood for this kit, but you can also get there by filing and sanding the scoops off. That's what I did on my original annual (which I never finished). Now wish I hadn't as that was the original clear plastic hood. Looking at that kit (still in its original box) the other night, I found that hood and a resin repop of the scooped hood that I must have picked up somewhere along the line. I think when I build it, I'll paint both hoods, scooped and plain, and swap them out as the mood strikes me. (Thinking of using the OHC 6 engine just 'cause it's different and the MPC Pontiac V8 isn't really all that great.) The front end of this body is almost as wide as the front end of the Revell '69 Camaro. I found that amazing, as the front end of the MPC '69 Camaro is WAY narrower than the Revell. Maybe MPC took more care converting the '68 Firebird molds to '69 than they did the '68 Camaro, as they still had the Pontiac promo contract in '69 but lost the Chevy promo deal back to AMT that year. At any rate, I'm getting interested in finishing this model up, after all these years, and seeing your build has been very inspirational to me.
  22. Wow. Interesting topic. Gonna have to give it a lot of thought, but for the moment I'll say AMT '66 Buick Skylark and original issue AMT '66 Mustang hardtop/convertible (with the custom half-top and all the great custom parts that have never been seen again).
  23. That's the hood that originally came in the kit. In the first issue it was molded in clear. I think maybe in some later issues they gave you only the TA type hood but I think at least some had the 400 hood as well. Modelhaus repops it if your kit doesn't have it.
  24. Sounds like Rev on the Red Line, from Foreigner's fabulous first album.
