Adventures in soldering:The GT40 project New pics 2/13/17

I tried to solder a "t" connection for a brake line this week It is harder than it looks and though it worked looks like a 5 yr old did it I have another level of respect for the construction skill shown in this thread Just amazing -
So many gorgeous cars that I will never have, might as well make scale models of them As a kid in the '80s, I can remember an orange 240z parked in our driveway friend of my brother owned it It was in rough shape, leaked oil and had a strong gasoline smell....a diamond in the rough and I was smitten Keep going on your build, loving every bit of it!
-
Cool, great resource bookmarked Thanks for that, loving the build of your Z car, has always been one of my favorite shapes

Nice stuff Had my eye on a little tap and die set at a train hobby shop near me last weekend Wasn't a kit though, so wanted to research common dimensions before I bought one Where the heck do you get little threaded nuts???

Large scale Lambos/Ferraris

There has to be some old farts selling off their kits somewhere.....I am closer to being an old fart than I'd like to admit -
I have been scoping out many old big builds lately, bookmarking them for future reference Sucks when people purge their photobucket and we lose pictures
-
Two 'new' horses have arrived for my stable from a great modelling guy in Colorado who is thinning his heard a bit for a move. This second Pocher kit is in much better mint condition with all box flaps and parts properly stowed And my queue for building gets longer by two!

Just hang in there, be patient and keep looking Don't get sucked into an E Bay bidding war...been there done that Have a look at garage and estate sales...you never know what people have and sometimes neither do they Even think about some partially built large kits that you can disassemble and breathe new life into One of my dream kits is a Pocher Ferrari F40 in 1/18 scale Good luck with your search , keep us posted -
That is sad news, I hope he is well We need more larger scale classic car and Pocher lovers!
-
Superb work, it looks sweet! Love the paint and wheel color match and interior is very realistic Great job, you have done a lot with this basic kit.......going to follow along for sure
-
How is this coming along?? Nothing worse than a Pocher tease.....we need pictures!!

Don't change anything for me Was just being Devil's advocate

Thread on some Fujimis http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95480&hl= I made motorized Tamiya (Lancia Stratos)... no engine detail and too toy-like Personally wouldn't make one again, that is just me. -
Didn't want to sound critical and lord knows I can never duplicate anything exactly myself, just notice the difference The front of the armrest goes from the floor all the way up.....that way have that flat front edge and easy joints I think you are saying another bit fits into that step?? Just want to save you some hard angle work when trying to cover with leather...flatter is easier

Fujimi, Tamiya, Hasegawa all good Japanese model companies. I really like the Fujimi's I have done and am going to try a 1/16 Enthusiast kit F40...these are supposed to have more detail than the norm kits That might be something to look at. Have a peek at MFH...Japanese company doing crazy stuff and stupid expensive at 1/12 scale..but one day:) http://www.modelfactoryhiro.com/new/en/archives/13228 -
Yours is looking better than the picture! Love the arm rest shape, but there is a step at the front of the base cushion that is not on the photo....no biggy, but might your shape might be harder to cover Is it balsa wood or bass wood???...your cuts are super clean and sharp
-
Wow all this detail at 1/24 scale VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!! Just gonna sit, watch and learn Cheers, Scott

My god, this level of detail in 1/24 scale is even MORE impressive -
Ok Holy Cow, you can make a tractor look like a supermodel! I like that you are doing the accent/weathering style painting to your engines to up the realism It is the airplane, figure and tank guys who do all the washes and such to weather their builds. That is where I have learned a little bit of what you are doing....still long way for me to go Again great work!

Oh hey, that will be a cool project Great pic of the pristine body in your hand...she is a big girl!!!

Researching the braking system to get some sort of simulated tubing for it...the master cylinder is in the floor well of the cab, just behind the foot pedals! Have a couple diagrams for the routing of the braking system hoses.....not trying for exact replica, just the flavour of it I have a four day weekend coming up, so planning on lots of red paint on the body and mating the it to the chassis. Worked to cover my front panel screw up and have closed the openings backup Hoping to get this sucker buttoned up by the end of the month

Fantastic work The two tones of grey make this very classy and the whitewalls and silver spoke wheels add to it Nice job!
-
Yes, you actually said "dainty little asses" Howling with laughter over that. You have done a fabulous job on the back...I can't wait to see what you do for the bum grooves on the seat area Great leatherwork Hope all is well with you and your wife Scott
