Now for a bit of history lesson. Many of these little MG's came home with Gi's after WWII and help start the small sports car craze Here is one with a P51...lovely combo Some guy named, oh what was it, Carrol Shelby won his first auto races in a buddy's MG Cool little open sports cars that were very highly modified and somewhat simplistically fun to work on and alter I would love a real one, bet they were a blast on a twisty road on a sunny morning

Thank you mate, always good to hear from a Kiwi

Dude we are going to have to tie an anchor to your heel....so far ahead of me I can hardly make you out in the distance At least my workbench is clean and empty, will wait for weekend to start the Ferrari I sat in a buddy's 328 on Friday to get me in the Ferrari mood for this build

Thanks Bob, I appreciate you following along and the encouragement. I get a little weird and fed up towards the end of a build so you really helped out I see lots of warts on this British frog, but it is a beastie that has kinda grown on me I really battled with my airbrush and the paint, so thank you for that comment. It is Tamiya red rattle can paint, no primer :0 I think for my next build, I am going to start with the overall body paint so I can give myself more time and the primer, paint and clear longer cure times I start a build with the guts of the car was per instructions and not the body, so gonna switch it up for the F40 and see what happens...that will be in the Fujimi community build, post #73 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95480&page=4

Funny I just noticed the period missing after the C on the license plate I have the Minicraft Jaguar SS100 1/16 kit as well, but I need to do something different and that kit is almost identical to this one

Yes, the bonnet opens, though somewhat precariously and it is not a perfect fit Sorry will do some finished engine shots and undercarriage.... thought I bored the daylights out of everyone in my build thread http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96619&hl= I did some simpleton wiring in the engine and brakes, my favorite were the last minute chrome headlight wires, though they were not perfectly symmetrical It is a pretty clean kit build wise, minimal flash, good simple instructions, absolutely no color or detail info at all. I had a reference book on restoring MG's and Google to help with that I would have wanted to get some finer hinges for the engine covers on the sides, the main one down the middle is ok The chrome is just fair, a better man would have stripped it and re-chromed Body fit is fair with a bit of flexing and so wrassling to get it into place Those are the kit wheels, too thickly sprayed by me.....the spokes are very good for plastic I remade the dash in wood...have a extra dark one if anyone interested. Harry P, you taught me how to make that in one of your builds! Thanks to Harry, Bill and Wayne for their comments

This is the final dash...ran out of bezel for the dark one and too lazy to go get more and fool around with it Decided to be artsy and use some Windsor and Newton oil paints I had to do a wood steering wheel Dummy, the dry time is 2-5 days ..........ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

You are gonna get a number of opinions here, your paint looks good, but let it dry fully!! My suggestion would lean to the second method except BMF after you sanded....b/c you will scratch it up and have to redo the BMF; ask me how I know. So IMHO taken with a grain of salt, your mileage may vary: LEAVE TO HARDEN...like over the weekend even Wet sand gently to as fine as you want don't go through paint but get out the fluffs and dust Recheck you don't need any touch up spray areas you over sanded, repeat first two steps if you respray First, THIN clear and 24 hr dry minimum UltraFine wet sand if needed BMF, decals and other detail bits of PE Final clear coats, rub out, buff, wax if desired I always test out a small area before I do the whole car...paint varies It saved my bacon on my MG as my cut wax rub out on the door I tested took all the clear off. SO I decided no buff and wax on that paint, just polish

I have a four day weekend starting tomorrow and hope to get the MG finished and buttoned up then Stay tuned!!

Cool My wife will kill me if I spend any more money on this kit, so I need to watch others and get my fix
-
Good for you for getting that, it's a dream kit for me Maybe start your own build thread, would love to see one made!!!

1/8 Big Tub Buildup with my dad......
Twokidsnosleep replied to BHarrison's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Love seeing someone milling their own parts, that is super talented The frame paint looks better than any I have done on my model bodies! What are we making here, exactly?? -
Sorry to hear this pickle you are in Give him the money back, take the blame and move on with a clear conscious You did a good try and can learn from the experience There are lots of good, skilled guys on here if you ask for a bit of help and not just forge on I would also get a new body and wheels from Airfix and remake it out of box stock for myself to prove you can do it

Airplane Engines in Autos
Twokidsnosleep replied to Twokidsnosleep's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, she is pretty pricey, I did manage to get my last two 1/12's on sale I am getting hooked on the larger scale cars and unfortunately 1/16, 1/12 and 1/8 comes at a price I keep saying no more kits, then find something else that catches my fancy and of we go again:) -
Great topic, following along; like to see something other than red Superb engine build so far I think I have one of these in my stash too
