Yes, you actually said "dainty little asses" Howling with laughter over that. You have done a fabulous job on the back...I can't wait to see what you do for the bum grooves on the seat area Great leatherwork Hope all is well with you and your wife Scott

I did a test with some new Easy Off pump spray. Other stuff was dead and nasty can that is probably 10 yrs old This is kind of a gel and worked removing paint reasonably quick (over a couple hours) with no damage to the plastic, easy to control Once again, my wife thinks I am nuts for buying new easy off when she has a self cleaning oven

Hey Ryan, It does look like a great kit and such a cool car, especially when you tell me the detail level is upped of these versions. I have quite a list of stuff ahead of that build so not sure when it will get going...almost hate to say what I plan to do out loud so I don't get anyone's hopes up. I will follow along on your Lambo build, made a Tamiya version of that car long ago and far away in my early teens Cheers man, Scott

Following along with mouth agape, gobsmacked, jaw dropped.... Fine brass work and soldering I missed your build scale 1/8????? -
Love this car and will follow your build....so far so good! Would get this kit if it had the steering wheel on the proper side!!!

First one finished in about 3 years or so.

So real just like a 1:1 Love the stance and tires and grill...and everything! The epitome of model building is to faithfully reproduce something in a smaller scale...you did that and how! -
I have a 1/16 Ferrari F40 coming from Japan, the Enthusiast version. I plan on making the Gas Monkey black F40, maybe for this build thread, we shall see how time goes

I am hooped then Skip, I have the ones listed above I like and there are not any more! Duesenberg Boattail like this gorgeous one Harry has done Jag SS100 Mercedes 300SL MG TC...if I can ever finish it. Not much of a Rolls fan..too floofy for me They need to have done the Austin Healy and some more classic Ferraris, Maserati in this 1/16 scale There are some other muscle classics in 1/16 AMT Ford Mustang '65 Cobra 427 I may have to get a third Pocher...ya, sure or better yet scratch build my dream Bugatti Type 35

I often work out leather design in thicker paper stock or cardboard for a bag or wallet, work out the kinks so I don't waste expensive leather. You can even use cheap fabric and make yourself a rough seat pattern. Fabric stores often have a small bits bin and it can work for test fabric or carpets etc.....very cheap. The first thing I thought when I saw my Alfa Pocher body was "I have to cut that ugly seat out of there" I was glad to see the the Brit modeller site you sent me says to do just that to get more realistic fit and look. So cool to use real leather in builds, I never did that until the MG I have a smoking nice red kangaroo hide maybe for my Alfa Monza when it gets here...red on red Have a good Sunday, Scott

Just don't trash what you have so far, it is a good start The sides and seat area may provide you with the extra leather to cover the end pleats But you have to consider your seam junctions and how to hide them

Yes, I may have to fire myself... Hey then I would have more modelling time And no money for it.

Model is put to bed in a dog proof container.....Coco my Bernese tested it out Each Ziplock has different assembly steps gathered together....vs random parts chucked in a box of mouse poo. Dental boxes of small bits in separate plastic box....no more loose bits I have not itemize every nut, bolt and screw. The things I notice missing are the Alfa badges and all the decals are toast. There are sources for replacements and I will do that when it is time. I was impressed with how the assembled parts of this car came apart so well; I broke one plastic bit on the alternator that I will easily replace. Maybe getting an old built Pocher kit, disassembling and getting aftermarket parts is not a bad idea. I am $350 USD into this kit which seems ok by what I see them going for...lots of potential to customize her up. So I will tuck this away for now and finish the other kit Time for research, gather info and think Cheers, Scott

Your seat looks awesome, keep going. Love the fabrication process here. You could add a separate leather bit at each end for the seat's arm and side and incorporate the last pleat maybe??? ie tuck it into the pleat. OR have an extra bit of leather from the seat cushions that wraps up to cover the side and fills the gaps you are missing in the outside edge pleats. Hope that makes sense to you. Size is always the problem with leather work.....your skin is too small or you run out and can't match the hide again to cover some other bit of the project. You can never have just enough. When I make a leather bag or something, my decision process for what skin to use involves having more than enough leather to do the job...if not, you WILL run out and be buggered. On my MG, I wanted a darker skin, but there was not enough of that leather to cover the seat, glue the edges and trim excess past the glueline. So I used a boring color that I had tons of. I also had to skive it which is prone to ruining lots of leather, so needed more than enough. Sorry I am babbling. I bookmarked your leather shop in the UK, thanks for that Cheers

Ok, all done Just kidding, this is a pic from Britmodeller site....gorgeous car, nice leather inside, great tips for the build Trying to figure out some colours Thanks Cato

Excellent warning, thank you, will keep plastic and oil separate. All plastic has been washed in dilute bleach, dried and then wiped with isopropyl alcohol (IPA). I try to do this before painting as a loose rule to avoid contamination that you are talking about. Then I let the parts air dry again and sorted the plastic into large ziplock bags and labeled the bag. If I dissasembled something, like the rear diff or the engine and there were specific hardware parts, I put those into a smaller ziplock (noWD40) and kept it inside the bigger bag.....just keep stuff together better. Remember I am not building this model yet, I am completely faithful to my MGTC, that I have not touched in a week other than to move it out of the way. Is there such a thing as model kit infidelity?? Off to Home Depot soon to get a plastic bin to store Franchesca in

I would not have even considered starting this kit if not for the great advice from Cato He has provided so much info and resources, I can't thank you enough! Every turn of research brings more and more info and I still have to finish the MG TC before I begin the Alfa All plastic parts are bleached and toothbrush scrubbed Getting a large tub tomorrow to keep the kit in Still have to inventory bolts and screws and such, but it actually looks like all major parts are present Goodnight all

Yes have Easy Off...old school smell of death stuff I have organized many of the metal bits into little clear dental crown boxes with lids...nuts, bolts etc As I worked though the plastic bag of many wonders, I was finding more dead bugs and then rodent feces (small so likely mice) Soooo all things metal in there got an IPA wash and then coated with thin layer of WD40 I am going to wash everything else in bleach and discard all shipped containers and original packaging. This kit has sat in the bowels of someone's home and it is kind of disgusting. I could actually steam autoclave the metal bits, but that would be a little too OCD...which I am not, really just a little CDO which puts it in correct alphabetical order....that is a joke folks, bada bing Time for a Friday night drink

Cato, I just ordered the CD you recommended My sandblaster is meh for this...heck of a mess on such large parts
