  2. Good to see you're back at it? and I can't agree more that this forum is the first choice of so many modelers, and seeing these builds come along is art! Not only is the forum a wealth of information and inspiration, it's a great place to make new friends! Look forward to seeing some of your work
  3. That's one killer cruiser ya got there sir! Can't go wrong with a 49 Merc, but you nailed it ?On the hood Mercury insignia, did you BMF and then polish the paint off? I haven't tried that yet so if that's how you did it, mind sharing some tips? Thanks for sharing!
  4. That's killer! Beautiful job ??

  9. Welcome back Lloyd! I agree with you on always ending up back here! You'd be hard pressed to find a better group, and the builders here are second to none. Good to have you back, and looking forward to seeing your work?
  10. Hello there Dave! You made a really good decision joining this group! Not only will you find the most accomplished builders anywhere on the planet....who are generally more than happy to share ideas and building tips, but it's also a great place to make some new friends! You'll find as you go along (as vamach mentioned) that concentrating on basics is a good start. Kit manufacturers have come a long way over the years, along with numerous aftermarket part guys which I recommend you look into. I suggest Ted's Modeling Marketplace, BNA models, RB Motion and Future Attraction to name a few. As far as paints, metalizers, clearcoats, etc just remember that spraying enamel or acrylic over lacquer? Absolutely. The reverse however is usually a disaster! and if you don't have an airbrush, treat yourself to one. In my opinion, the best way to figure out this whole painting dilemma is to remember the basics....and experiment & practice! Get to know the members here and follow the builds as they go along- it's like watching art in motion and some great inspiration and never be afraid to ask for suggestions. Now get busy and build somethin! ?
  11. That's looking real nice! You pretty close to wrapping it up? Who's PE and detail up products did you use?
  12. That bad boy had to have turned out as well as you hoped! Very nice? What kit is it?
  13. What a nice job! This is the first one I've seen complete and gotta say WOW!? Thanks for sharing
  14. Man o man- that's awesome! Really nice job ?I'm close to wrapping up a Tamiya....not sure Its gonna equal THAT bad boy!! Definitely an inspiration
  15. For that scale you really pulled it off! Nice ?
  16. Anything that starts out Tamiya.... Your car is coming along nicely!??
  17. Come to think of it, I did pick up a Revell kit of the C7R Corvette and after giving it a look I was pretty pleased with what I saw. Pretty crisp cast in general and ALL the detail went into the body, but looks like it could make a nice curbside to display.
  18. Hey there Barry! Must say you certainly chose wisely joining this forum....loaded with the best builders you'll find. Great guys (and gals), and watching these builds come along is like art in motion! Just curious, what exactly is an art box build? Heard the term, just not sure what it means.
  19. An early Christmas!! Mid summer I began poking around for a project to do over the winter and finally decided on a 3 car build. The kits are all Tamiya from BNA models, and the detail up goodies are from mainly Scale Motorsport and Crazy Modeler. The one and only 03 Enzo, the stunning hybrid FXX-K, and last but not least the very successful 2001 F1 car. To make it short, I had the orders together and the funds set aside for everything and planned to order in mid December. Unbenonced to me, my wonderful wife of 31 years had other plans all along.....UPS showed up at the door with packages in hand- the entire order! Yes sir, think I outta keep her?!! Plan on getting underway with the first car the week of Thanksgiving, and really looking forward to it! That's my "what did you get today" story!
  20. Hummm....you mean there are other kit manufacturers out there other than Tamiya? How can that be? Of course I'm JK! After discovering the near museum quality these kits truly are, I probably won't bother with any domestic kit makers from here out. I mean geeez, I'd be doing Mr. Ferrari a real injustice starting out with any other kit out there! Considering the fact that I haven't been doing much building at all over the last several years, I'm doing Tamiya's Kawasaki HR2 as kind of a "tune up" before getting started with these 3 Ferraris so we'll see! How's yours coming along?
  21. That's some spectacular work (I mean fun!) you're into there. Great eye, and the attention to detail? Well....what can I say?
  22. Nice ground pounder! Kinda miss buildin those ol dragsters. Well done?
  23. Very nice ??
  24. That's my favorite....old skool roundy rounders. You certainly did this build justice for sure! Very fitting and superb execution! ??
  25. That's quite a project you have there! Talk about inspiration- wow! Have a Ferrari Enzo planned for a winter build, best I can hope for is it turns out as nice as this! Very nice job??
