  1. A little soap in the water helps but over flat is not a good idea. If you have any clear areas in the decal you will get silvering where the decals wont settle in the low spots of the paint. You need to lay down gloss, apply the decals then dull coat later. Dwayne
  2. It was under a tent in October here in So Cal. It was a very hot day. I had another car that was a resin and the only thing that melted was the plastic hood. Kinda Strange. Dwayne
  3. This is why I won't enter any more outdoor model contest. I have to rebuild this for a friend.
  4. I have been building for the past 15 years and my motors don't look that good. Great Work. Dwayne
  5. Here are a couple that I just got some pictures of. Both major glue bomb restorations. The rollin stoned was not to bad to start with. Made all my own decals. link to the build http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...-magic-cuda-fu/ link to the cuda picts http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...ds/cuda-digger/
  6. A few more Dwayne
  7. As promised some better pictures of recent completions. Cacklefest A restoration of an origional
  8. I thought I had before pictures of this one but I don't. I lowered the suspension when I built it. It was my first funny car years ago. I never liked the way it looked and the decals from the kit were junk so that is probably why I did not take pictures. Anyway the other night I decided to see if I could get her down lower to look better. May not be period correct but I like it. If anyone out there has these decals that they can scan and email me so I can repaint the car I would appreciate it. If not I may strip it and go for the pure hell. I have built the dog house over the blower since this picture and painted it to match. It only took about 30 min to drop er down. The body was above the front and rear tires before the drop. Dwayne
  9. I just finished up these two here is the link to my 1320's to see the builds. http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...-in-scale/1320/ I made the black pinstripe between the red and white on the computer. It was a bear but it really improves the look of the car. I wish Model King would release this one so we could have a source of Drivers. I lowered the suspension. I tried to figue a way to lower the body on the monogram Cuda but the tin work is very complex and I have not figured out how to do it yet. I made the grill decal and I also made gold foil lettering to overlay on the decal set to make em pop. Dwayne
  10. Well I seem to remeber him mentioning the mongoose/snake FE dragster. The Young american and Garlits cars are way longer than the other kits but I made a chassis by lengthening the double trouble to use with some body bits I had. Dwayne
  11. If you want to see a close up of the stripe click on the link to the build. Here is how it is done. First I sprayed the car HOK Orizon Silver. I also made a decals in photoshop with wiggly lines in several different colors. I masked off the silver the same width as the decal. I then sprayed the car HOK Rasberry pearl. I then removed the tape and layed on the decal. I then sprayed the entire car with HOK Apple Red candy toner mixed in the clear base. Then I taped off two pinstripes and sprayed them with turnsignal amber. After that I sprayed the whole car with dupont urethane clear. I had a few dust spots I had to polish out then I was done. If you look at the stripe from different angles you see different lines appear and disappear. Its kida cool. Dwayne
  12. If you click on the link there is one picture in there that is a close up of the stripe. Dwayne
  13. Built for my club contest. ProStreet Outlaw. Must have all street legal running gear to be entered. Link to the build http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...dge-challenger/ This is one of the prettiest cars I have ever done. Silver base with rasberry pearl covered by candy apple. Dwayne
  14. I have narrowed the mounting post on many sets and when thats not enough I have narrowed the tire and wheel itself. You can paint the raw plastic silver or prep in and spray alclad. If you smooth it all out well no one ever knows. Dwayne
  15. If your blue is dark I doubt the purple will affect it. If you want a deeper blue use gray or black primer. White if you want a light blue. Dwayne
  16. You suggested to try the interior swap so I did. Actually I first constructed that interior about 8 years ago and the car still is not done but it is getting close. It is a 58 Impala, purist please dont freak LOL. Your Merc is fantastic. Dwayne
  17. Just got these the other day. I have around 300 HO slots and these have to be in the top 5.
  18. Merry Christmas Everyone. Santa is going to deliver some Peace and Love.
  19. That is really making me want to pull mine out and dust them off too. That is way cool. I just watched the RenSport special on Speedvision today. They featured those cars and gave quite a lot of information about them. A must watch for fans of that type of racing. Dwayne
  20. Here is a link to picts of todays show. http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/therealt...force-car-show/ It was a really good time. John was his old self, just hobblin.
  21. I saw one go on ebay last week for 90 bucks then a couple days later another went for 38. Go figure. Both appeared to be the latest release.
  22. I just opened a box with a Carrera 66 GTO and the roof is melted down to the body. I have never seen such a thing. I never opened this up when I first bought it so I can't return it as it was a long time ago. I have heard that there are resin bodies that you can get for 1/32. Any help would be appreciated. thanks Dwayne
  23. those are real nice.
  24. Just a not of caution on the Duplicolor grey. If you go to heavy on later coats say a couple of weeks later it will react with itself and wrinkle up. I have had that happen many times. Dwayne
  25. Wow those graphics are fantastic. I wish I could generate new stuff half that good. Dwayne
