  1. Hi, Out here on the west coast the Kit Bashers of So Cal are going to put on a premier model contest. We want to have origional art work on the trophy plaques. It is expensive to put on a show and as such we can't afford to offer much more than a plaque with our thank you on it. That being said if any of the great artist I have seen on here would be willing to offer a submission of artwork please contact me at djway3471@aol.com and I will let you know what we need for the plaque. Thanks Dwayne
  2. This started out as a really ugly purply pink plastic with some really bad stickers. I found some picts of the real car and them made all my decals from scratch. Cleared with urethane two part so I hope the cars will stand up to use. this is an SCX car not scalextric More picts http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/slot-car...g-xj14-scx-132/ This one started out as a plain white body. I took the Mr Stp 1/25 decals and scaled down to fit this car. Tamiya metallic red with urethane clear. link to more picts http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/slot-car...132-scalextric/ I am afraid to run them they look so good LOL Dwayne
  3. Two pounds glue one pound plastic and now this. LOL I had to get the tires and wheels from the flip nose Malibu and some parts from the bin but it was a good save overall. Orion HOK Silver with dupont urethane two part. My own silver foil decals. link to the build http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...silver-60-wago/ Enjoy Dwayne
  4. This body is extensivly modified. Everything from the mid body body line down has been replaced. The nose was lengthened, lowered and narrowed towards the nose. Scathed out the air dam and sized down a top fuel wing in the rear. Scratch built the front frame and added more frame details inside the cabin. Carbon fibered the dash and bug catcher. Tin work is tamiya light gun metal. Frame and cage tubing is tamiya mica red and the body is tamiya metallic red with two part dupont urethane. I made my own decals by drawing the flames and printing the lettering in silver foil. Pegasus rear tires and wheels. This thing looks fast just sitting there. Enjoy link to the build http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...cuda/page2.html
  5. Well before I head south to Acopolco for my birthdayI thought I would post a couple of completions. This is my last of 6 Cudas I have submitted for the Cuda build off on Spotlight Hobbies board. All the rear body work is scratchbuilt. The chassis is a modified Ferrari F50 which donated the chassis, suspension, and tranny, and seats. The dash is from a Calloway Vette and the console is scratch built. The door panels are from a late model Mustang. The interior tub is scratch built as are the front air splitters. The under nose was reworked quite a bit and the front grill was opened up as were the gills and all were filled with mesh work. The front bumper was narrowed to stay within the body lines. The grill work on the motor cover is from an old Vette kit. The rear roll pan was shaped to match the aero work on the chassis. The front wheels are Pegasus Fat Daddys and the rears were a lucky find on a Jada car so they are a step bigger than the fronts. The motor is a hemi with a late model fuel injection style runner. The headers were flipped forward then solder was used to run to the mufflers then solder used to run to the tips out the side of the body. Base color of HOK Solar Gold, followed by Candy Brandywine by HOK. All covered up with miles deep Urethane clear two part. The removable hard top stores neatly under the front hood. The scoop on the hood is from the Challenger kit and is just turned around to use as an air outlet along with the gills. The side air intakes are scratch built and have radiators behind each. Ther is also another radiator in the nose section. And now for the pictures. pedals were cleaned later Link to the build and many more pictures. http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...da-barcheletta/ Dwayne
  6. The Monster STude is the AMT kit with the chop top although the sides have been replaced and rear wheel wells moved and the airdam scratched. the chassis and rear air foil are from the Juke box Ford. link to the build http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete.../stude-pro-mod/ Dwayne
  7. My local hobby shop said that the metalizer sprays are no longer listed in the catalog and they can't get them any more. Anyone else hear this? Dwayne
  8. That ride is Boss Daddyo DJ
  9. Here are a couple of Studes Dwayne
  10. I was just down at the Buena Park racetrack a couple of weeks ago and they were haveing drag races. Those dang things are so fast I could not even watch them. Let me tell you some of those cars were downright beautiful. Dwayne
  11. Your back problems come from the typical hunched over posture that modeling typically exhibits. A soft seat does help with the circulation to the posterior and legs. You really need to get up every 15 to 20 min and do extension excercises to counteract the constant flexed position. Dwayne PT
  12. I just got the kit and opened it up. Much to my dismay most of the hot rod and custom parts do not appear to be included so I can't build the car I wanted to build. I did not see the drag slicks, moon disk, cycle fenders and custom hood. At that point I quit looking. Dwayne
  13. That is flat out Pretty. Very nice build Dwayne
  14. I saw a guy cut a groove on the back side of the pillar wide enough for some thin brass rod. He put in some super glue, placed the rod then squeezed the pillar straight. Bingo. Staight pillar. Dwayne
  15. This is an SCX Mazda. It was very ugly out of the box so I repainted it. Started with this ended up with this made my own decals. Not a great body as after just a few laps one of the wing struts was broken. I have added two brass rod to try to support it so we shall see. this is not a fast car but is great fun to drive as it really hangs em out around the corners. Dwayne
  16. Hey John, I have been writing all these guys on the various boards and suggesting that they contact your company. I have called Retro in the past and everyone there has always been very helpful. I just opened my kits tonight, I hate to do that until I am ready to build but, everything was ok with my two. Now if we could just get the Bugaboo and Maxi Mav that would be great Dwayne
  17. Great news. I have one concern though. On the Infini T run from Retro Hobby there has been much chatter on the various boards about severe warpage in many of the kits. I would like to bring this to your attention so that you can look into quality control with your supplier. I really want this new venture to be successful and quality will be part of it. I wish you the best in the new adventure and I look forward to flooding my shelves with many old and new kits. Dwayne
  18. Oh Man, I was at the So Cal Kit Bashers meeting tonight where we have a track. What a Blast! I took three cars. An SCX Mazda, a Slot It Ferrari and a Monogram 76 Greenwood vette that I lowered the body on. The monogram I got hooked up in the back but the front was way to light and difficult to keep in the groove. The tires on the Monograms are all very thick so I am replacing the front tires with much tinner units and I think it will work. It was fast on the straights. The SCX Mazda was also light in the front but I discovered that playing with the braids made a lot of differnce and I was soon able to scoot around with this one. You actually have to drive this car which was a blast hanging it our around the corners or using the throttle through the ssssss's. I actually enjoyed this car the most but it was so much slower than the others. The slot it Ferrari was fast and I could blast the course but it did not seem to accelerate as fast as it should. There were some Scalextric Mustangs, the burgandy and mustard cars and those things were just plain fast. Cornering and straight line speed were fantastic and gave the much smaller Ferrari a real run. So now I am even more hooked after several hours of fun. I got no money and I want a ton of cars. Aint that how it goes LOL? Dwayne
  19. Thank you so much for the offer of support. I have sent you a PM. Dwayne
  20. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- We invite all of our fellow modelers from around the country to join us in the promotion of the hobby. We have located a great facility in Riverside CA with great lighting. It is only blocks away from Riversides newly built mall with lots of great restaurants. We are only 30 min. from Ontario Intl. airport. We are working on compiling a list of hotels for our fellow modelers that would like to come to So Cal from around the country to join in. We plan to have a dj rollin the tunes. We will have first through third placques and we are working on some very unique artwork for them that we hope to be a collectible. We want as many people as possible to bring lots of kits to sell at the vendor tables so we can have a fun day of model hockey(my word for running over each other to get the deals LOL). We would also like to encourage the aftermarket people to come show their wares. I will provide new fliers as more information becomes available. I hope many of you from east of the Colorado and north of LA as well as all of So Cal will attend. We are doing this strictly out of a passion for the hobby. Promotion of the hobby is the sole purpose of our club and all activities. Come join us. Also come check out our message board anytime. Dwayne
