  1. Hey all, Here is the latest flier. Hope to see you there. Greg, let me know where you want a high res copy sent Dwayne
  2. Well I will be there as will most all of the Kitbashers Club since we help put on the show. The guys from Arizona are coming and they are great builders. Last year we had over 150 cars and we hope to have even more this year. Spread the word. We get the same trophy plaques as they give out for the 1to1 show. It is indoors in an air conditioned mall and we watch the models very closely. See you all there. Dwayne
  3. I would say to use a FLAT paint of the same color. I drop a bunch into a fine strainer then I tap the side and kinda let in snow the flocking over the area. Tamp it down. For even better hold spray it with dullcote. DJ
  4. Can those wheel sets still be found??? That build looks great!
  5. Are you going to add the zoomies like the real car? The Arizona boys will probably be at Route 66. It will be good to have someone give them a run for the money on engines. DJ
  6. Your picts made me go get one. Question on your orders from accross the pond. Is shipping very expensive? I looked at the Hiro site and I found the paint but could not find the kawasaki forks. I saw a Yamaha listed twice. Thanks DJ
  7. Hi Guys, I used a resin scoop on this car but I have no idea where I got it. I orderd some Hilborne scoops from Comptetion Resin but they are very small in comparison. Any ideas from whom I could get one that is larger?
  8. this site has dozens of supplier links http://www.rocketfin.com/model_car_links.html
  9. I have about every brand there is and I have seen nothing accelerate as fast as the Scalextric F1 cars, not even my slot its. But they all are fun mags or no mags. Each car requires a different driving skill. I like best the cars that fish tail just a little then accelerate like bats out of hell LOL. Too much fun. DJ
  10. Now thats one you dont see every day. I remember the cars but have never seen a body in scale before. Way cool.\DJ
  11. I would say for total number of cars available 1/32 is by far the best. If you want to just collect beautiful cars then it is 1/32 hands down. As far as the most consistent fast cars Scalextric seems to be the most consistent. Fly tends to have the most beautiful cars followed closely by Carrera. I agree with above that Ninco are the most toy like. They are very fast and have weak magnets which makes driving more of a challenge but I personally like a challenge. I have a lot of fun with the Monogram Vettes and Daytona Coupes. Slot Its are just fast but not as much of a challenge to do so. I also like HO's but that probably because that was all I could afford as a kid. If you have a local routered track nearby then you will have to get a 1/24 car. You don't have to go the wing route. there are a lot of lexan car bodies and the drag cars are neat but the race is over to fast for me. that is more of a builders class. DJ
  12. Those are just TWO KEWL
  13. This thing was a real glue bomb mess. Mainly the chassis needed a lot of scratch building to patch it up. I finally found some decals recently to finish it off. I added my own gold foil to the lettering and here we are. link to picts http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...and-olson-1-16/
  14. Here is a mix up of different kits done Jada style. link to the build http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...oms/bootlegger/
  15. I started this when the Revell chopped kit came out. I decided that useing that kit would be too easy so I dug out some AMT Mercs cause I never do anything the easy way LOL. Chopped, Channeled, slanted B pillar, flattened out the beauty line, made my own side molding, scooped fender skirts. frenched headlights, adapted Vette bumpers, custom seat covers, HOK Tangelo Pearl over HOK orion silver with two part clear. Parts box motor parts from the AMT 57 Chevy. Lil Coffin front tires and wheels. link to more picts http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...-merc-number-2/
  16. Yes April was a busy month for me. I work in large batches so the next few months will be slow again. Anyway here is a mild custom I just finished for the Kit Bashers next contest. Resin body, opened up the hood and fashioned the motor compartement. Hok Orion silver covered by hok candy apple red then Dupont Urethane clear. Made the decals for the seat covers. parts box tires and wheels. Used brass mesh for the grill mesh and parts box grill decoration. Alclad for all the chrome bumpers and extra bright BMF. link to the build http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...ld-mild-custom/
  17. It is the AMT dual kit that has the coupe and pickup. I changed out tires and wheels, added an new scoop and made the rear air foils.
  18. Followed the box art for paint and made my own decals. More pictures http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete.../willys-pickup/
  19. Another paint job just finished. link to more picts http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...onte-carlo-pla/
  20. A fun little project just completed. link to more picts http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...onster-charger/
  21. Here is a litte project I just finished. It is totally from parts box pieces. link to the build http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...t-rantula-rail/
  22. Well this is my third paint job on this restoration and it finally worked out. I had to pull wheels from the parts box as well as some new glass as the old was not salvagable. I went for a Box Art Build on this one. Link to the build http://public.fotki.com/djway3474/complete...0/hemi-hustler/
  23. That is just plain beautiful. How do you get such beautiful interiors. I am envious of the job well done.
  24. You can get Photoshop 7.0 for considerably less than the latest releases and an older version of Illistrator too. the latest releases have some great blending sub routines that are more for photography and not really needed. start there then if you need the updates you can get those for much less than the full program. As far as pads go Wacom is the big name and I have seen some great stuff done with them and they start around 100 buck and go up. the size of the pad is the big cost factor. DJ
  25. I wouldn't mind a few words on how you laid down the colors and did the weathering of the truck if you have some time. thanks and Great Build Dwayne
