So, I got the horn & the oil dip-stick in my truck and put it back in the dust case above the work bench and brought Dads back out. I have a little yet to do to the frame on Dads truck, I need to affix the air cleaner that it can be removed, BUT not lost at the same time (long piece of wire mounted to the air cleaner that slips into the center of the carburetor works well for this! BUT has to be LONG, almost as long as the engine is deep up & down, to keep it in place, when handled! Then to top it all off, I have to paint the lug nuts on the rims chrome, and this frame will be done! I may take my frame down one last time and add valve-stems to each rim, but am undecided on doing this but there is a very good chance it will happen! BUT, to keep going, I took the interior box out and got to looking at what it looked like from when I cut out the 2 bucket seats and re-built the area they once were in, to hold a bench seat. Now that I got some bench seats from a few of our own in trade (thanks guys!!!!!) I got to see what one fits the best to Dads truck without a lot of modifications. Sadly, that " a lot" part, isn't going to be as easy as I had hoped and wished for! (Got to admit), Dads truck was and has been a lot more difficult to build as his was further from what the model I used was made to be in the first place, and required A LOT more work then my truck in this build did! Once done tho, it will be worth it as a Father & Son set, I know! So, when I took it out, the back needed a "finish" edge on it. Something more then just a sheet of plastic, to be cut off straight across, so, I went to my parts bin to see what all I had, stock bits & pieces of building materials. Not actual model car parts, but something to fabricate the part I was seeing in my head. Found a strip, that looked "close", as it was a bit "high" but was right width. So I used it, cut and filed to fit side-to-side and then placed it that the top, stuck up past the factory edge or the interior tub/box..... Once dry, I filed that top down to be even and straight across side-to-side to the factory interior box height. This will serve 2 purposes. One, a finish to the interior box, that will only truly be seen under the rear window, and on each side of the bench seat, but 2, it will serve as a rest for the back of the bench seat to rest one, when all said and done! While I was at it, I also added 2 more thicknesses of that dark gray plastic, to "fill in the rear wall on each side. These were scraps! I had to come up with just a bit more thickness for the seat to fit right and look good, as the rear inside corners were lacking that lip on top stuck out a bit more then it needed too to look right! SO, that was added in too at this time! Once this was all done, it was time to pick a seat! This wasn't the easiest part I can tell you, Dads truck had a bench seat in it, yes, BUT that bench seat was a bit different. The Dodge truck seats were completely different then that found in a car..... I'm not sure why, but they did different that much! Matter of fact, the bars running side to side on the cars bench seats is and was wrong, for a stock Dodge truck seat! The Trucks, mostly had seats with the bars or sewing lines running up and down, not across! SO I honestly can not remember what the seat looked like in Dad's truck BUT I'm taking an educated guess here to say, the cars front bench seats are upholstered wrong for a truck, no matter how I look at it. SO, I simply had to pick one! -Knowing what I just said, It was a hard pill to swallow that I couldn't get a closer seat but, I wasn't going to set out and fabricate a seat too..... so heres the seat I'm gonna use! (I just have to live with it) but thats OK its on the inside of the truck anyway! Now the real test was coming! I had to sit down, talk with my uncle (the uncle thats been helping me recall how this truck was when Dad had it), as I mentioned the real truck was lost in a flood! And my uncle had a lot involved with helping my Dad at times do things to it, oil changes, added this or that to spruce it up a bit, so..... He'd know best, second to Dad, but Dad well hes not around anymore so.......... -Which is partly why I'm so focused on this build........ Its sort of a healing for the loss of my Dad, coming up on 2 years in April! At times, it almost seems to much to take in, the loss and the thought, but I have to... Its been helping me heal through the rough time (I've been told, you never truely get over the loss of a close parent, and I believe it, but there are things to ease it.. this for me happens to be one of those ways! Building a model of my Dads '39 Chevy, is just to close, if that makes any sense. I'd lose the healing I've gained (even tho, I DO have a model of this car, in-progress that I haven't touched since Dad's passing!) It was meant to be a gift to him when he was a live! And bought while he was in the same store I BOUGHT it from! (was fun being sneaky getting it out of the store and into Dad's car as we rode to where this one place was in Pennsylvania as he wanted some Train track for under his Christmas tree, back in November 2012, on Black Friday that year. I wound up needing open heart surgery in April of 2013, and had not got to see Dad at all since that time in 2012..... -Talked on the phone a lot, as he was in Pennsylvania, and I'm in New Hampshire.... a pretty good ride. needless to say!

So with the current issues I was going through with the computer, I had a bit of time to work on the shop "resetting"... (since New Years Eve is when I got back into it.... BUT recently I had to take a break, As some light materials need to be picked up to get back at it again. SO having to delay the shop resetting, I got back into a little bit of model work! The Father & Son build! SO, with that being said, I took down Dad's truck in this build, remembering what/where I had let off last. It needed a Horn, and wired in..... I got the horm painted (2 come with EACH of my '70 Dodge Coronet Super Bee's and Really, I'm only gonna use one! SO, I have a few "extra" and this is a great time to put one extra to good use! Painted it black after I drilled the hole for the wire, and trimmed off any edge flash, as it had to fit in a pretty well tight area on the radiator core support. Once that was "fitted, I then drilled a hole for the little mount tab to fit into rather tightly as well, and let to dry for a short time, to dig through what wire I had organized for such little things, but nothing I had was suitable for this application. So, I took out my spool of blue 30 Gauge wire! Seen here, the passenger side inner-fender, theres NO "blue" wire running near, or on it, for the horn! -Thats about to change! Fits nicely, BUT it was fun getting it in there! (I had for a moment, wished I had done it BEFORE the radiator over-flow tank went into place! With air cleaner sitting in place (I have yet to make this thing semi-removable to view the details under it!) so. the frame is actually, for the most part ..........DONE! Just that last step on making the air cleaner removable is all thats required! To date, I am VERY pleased on how all this has turned out! THEN it hit me like a TON of bricks............ MY TRUCK! It didn't have a horn!!!! SO, I sat Dad's aside to dry... -And pulled my truck in this build down...... Stay tuned, more to come after these short messages!

I have an issue..... ANYONE?????

Thanks for posting this but sadly, I don't have any one of the old MPC Dodge truck kits (Only the AMT-Ertl Little Red Express Dodge trucks) And to that, the rims I see from what ya posted well.......... I'm not looking for "spoked" rims, I'm more looking/leaning toward the Mopar Rallye's rims found on say a Monogram '70 Dodge Challenger -Just for the looks of it! IF not those rims, I'd settle on a set of Chrome or Aluminum Sloted rims, but thats about it, (I'm REALLY trying for a specific look here)..... So please forgive my anal-ness to the rim type and look..... -I MAY (and I do stress "MAY" here, I MAY think about a sort of directional type rim, kinda like a star, but 3 "arms" in a twisted sort of fashion..... BUT thats a slim chance, as I'm really set on the Mopar Rallye rims in these tires! -
Lookin good!!!!! -Can't wait for more!

I LOVE the camper! NICE work! I know the Camper & Wedge race bed came together (I'd KILL just to get the camper, myself) but NICE job placing them on Dodge Dually 3500 Ram's! I myself, may wind up scratch building a camper to be a tow-behind to go with my Dads '79 Dodge truck thats in my Father & Son Dodge truck build...... I'm now workin' on my Dads truck's interior as Its getting close done! A lot of work either way. but will be 2 nice trucks when done! -Just like these 2, will be nice trucks when done! What ya plan to put on the wedge bed for a race car? -
Thanks for posting Dale! I *THINK* I got it fixed........ Was getting a 502 Proxy time out error due to something my Wife picked up from Facebook..... BUT I hopefully got rid of it....... -till next time of course! Thanks man, much appreciated!
-
So guys, I thought I'd say here and now Sorry for my absence! I have had some computer issues and it wouldn't allow me to sign in, I was getting a 502 Error except in e-mail! Thanks to DeeCee for posting WHY I wasn't around in the General area..... I would up keeping the computer I was here on, originally, due to finding it had a virus/bug from Facebook that my wife picked up, that locked us out of EVERYTHING but e-mail, and Facebook. Go figure! ANYWAY, I thought over the time I was gone, I'd come back with replying to PM's, and posting what I've been up too other then working on the computer. (I will say again), I'm not sure how long it may last, BUT it seems "good to go" for now...... So, to the next installment of my shops progress..... This is the area I dedicated to be the Train & electronic benches, they're shaping right up! NICE to have white peg-board walls! Got my magnifier light in-place, as well as the electronic bench set up with my soldering station.... (I have several of these) but this is my main one, the others are either back up's, OR portables, to go to my train layout and other places needing soldering work, other then the actual bench area! The train bench will have a Dremel Flex-Shaft machine hung from the ceiling, as there are already 2 of them within the shop, its always nice to have the tools at finger tip reach! Better pic of the train bench! Showing test track for both HO scale (1:87th) and N scale (1:160th). G scale (1:22-1:28th) will be span across BOTH these benches if need be! (And yes, there is some within my shop to go with my model cars! LOL The Train test track also slides to the location of the electronics bench, to do testing and electrical work on the trains there as well as test them! Better shot from another angle of the electronic bench. Unlike the last way my shop "was" set up, this time around things are being organized a bit better as seen here! The train bench Detail cabinet. showing to have a secondary cabinet on top of it, that has since been removed (I did not like it there so I moved it else where till I see if I even need it, the area behind it and off to the left of it, has been fully peg-boarded, and a circulation fan put in the top right hand corner to keep heat & A/C in the entire shop.... THEN it was off to the Machine bench, where the Unimat is, and my Dremel Work station, The walls were horrible and needed something to be functional, SO having the amount of Peg-board I have, I thought why not! Removed EVERYTHING from the walls here placed the peg-board, and rehung mostly what I took down. Some small things I had on the wall here will be put back, BUT not where they originally were. Trying to utilize the space as best I can! Then........ I was off to work on the wall behind my "General" bench, where I build the model cars! One of the lights was removed (the one to the left of the bench!) THEN I built a "display" kinda case, thats NOT meant for "display" its a dust case. to put the current models I have out, in it to keep any and all dust off them! -It has since had a "seal" put onto the plexi-glass to "seal it to the case to prevent as much dust from getting in it as possible. This will ALSO serve as a drying rack, too..... For larger items to dry when painted to keep dust off them! To the right of this bench is where the paint bench will be NOT for actual painting, but the mixing there-of, and working on the air brush as you can see it hanging there, as well as "storing" it when not in use but still at my finger tips! I also have a hot plate there for keeping my favorite drink warm. COFFEE!!!!! LOL Dremel suspended from the ceiling at my fingertips as well.... ALL of these featured tools (suspended Dremels) are foot pedal controlled for RPMs! Sewing machine style! As well as some designed, and custom made organization racks and chest of draws. The racks on the wall are made from metal studding pieces I salvaged from my last job I had building stores..... (I saved anything from 1 foot in length to 4 feet in length from a single build I was part of, that used fire-proof/resistant building materials throughout as per that cities fire code. Stuff works wonders for holding paints and taking up little space to do! Then around the corner from the air brush, I got to the paint area! This area has yet to be completed! I got the walls DONE first, and will build the bench-work next as it will connect to my wifes work area for her craft work! This bench will be sort of "shared"..... She will get the far right hand side of it, and I'll have just the far left corner for paint clean up, mixing, etc..... This bench will also have a removable leaf to it for doing bigger craft projects and for my Wife's sake, gift ideas shes in-progress of! The lazy-Susan, had a modge-podge of tools in it, and some will be relocated to the proper bench, others will stay, for my General bench as its sitting on a TV swing arm wall mount, that I found at a yard sale last spring! For $2. And it does just what I intended it to do, perfectly, swing the tool rack to me, when needed and away from when not needed..... Out of the way when mixing paint, and back when done..... Then, my Wifes craft bench..... She is STILL organizing as I'm not done building racks and drawers for her use! Thats it for now. more to come soon!

Dodge truck
426-Hemi replied to junkyardjeff's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yep, Tom would be right, Chrysler Engine Blue. ALL slant 6's from I think 1970 till the 1990's was that color. BEFORE 1970 they were red, mostly and then in the 1990's, they were made black. -
Yeah, I love air brushing, BUT an accident I got in last year messed up my hands to an extent that I'm still healing from. I will however recover and be able to air brush, its not just right now! As for the Ramcharger part for under the hood, PM me, I have extra ones if your interested!!!!!

Richard, the finned Hemi valve covers were for an old 392 Hemi Generation 1, motor the Hemi valve covers you were using originally were 426 engine size, (A pretty big motor) they both however were impressively BIG, but the 392 is a 6.4L the 426 is a 7.0L. BOTH were & are nice engines tho, model or in real life!

If You Hit the Powerball Tonight...
426-Hemi replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
-First things first I'd BUY my apartment! Two, I'd drop a few on the making of a 1/16th 1970 Dodge Coronet, that could have the ability to have it made any one of 3 ways, Coronet "standard", with a slant 6, Coronet "R/T" with a 440 OR 426 Hemi, OR Coronet "Super Bee" with a 426 Hemi, The slant 6 "Standard" have a standard rear, automatic, The 440 have the ability to have BOTH standard, & automatic, and the 426 the same as the 440........ Bucket seat with choice of a Bench seat. Rallye Dash, AND standard dash. Opening doors, hood and trunk. -A true 3n1 kit...... Three, I'd pay MPC/Round 2 to make the General Lee in 1/16th CORRECT, AND be a 2n1 kit, to have the ability to have not just 426 Hemi, but a 440 as well, and make all the wrong parts, RIGHT, and have a half ways decent interior! Four, I would NOT mind seeing a 1/16th '78 Dodge Power Wagon either! NOT a Little Red Express, but choice of it as well as choice of the Warlock too, to make it a 3n1, with 3 engines to choose from 318 "stock" 360 "LRE" engine, or 440 for the Warlock....... -
NIICE work man! I just gotta ask tho, where'd you find the "426" wedge air cleaner decal? I love seeing the 426 other then the Hemi used as well as the Hemi but once the Elephant came along the Wedge was pretty much forgotten! NICE engine choice!

A Viper V-10 in a Big Horn...... who'da thunk it? NIICE work on that V-10 as well as the compressor!!!!! I dunno if I could go the Split ring rims....... The engine has Aluminum rims written all over it!!!!! LOL EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm using the Revell Peterbilt for a Dodge L-700 build! I wanted the Revell kit, to supply rims and tires CHROME rims with matching tires, as well as twin-screw rears. for my Race team rig to haul the "Doomz Day" monster A100 around! -Among other parts I may use from that kit! -I'd almost kill to get my hands on the pipe and air cleaner from a AMT-Ertl International Transtar II Eagle tractor, to be used on my L-700. but I'm not sure thats gonna happen...... -
Dodge truck
426-Hemi replied to junkyardjeff's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
LOL I hear ya Carl. I got a couple in the works too! LOVE 'em ole Dodge trucks so much can be done with 'em! -
Well I guess considering I got a Christmas gift for this particular build, I ought to post pics of the items, I got for it huh???? LOL Yeah, I think so.......... I last stopped this build due to the point of it I got to and for me to continue, I had to have the tires I planned to use on this truck in-hand to continue building the frame. As the tire size will be the determination of the height of suspension, AND if I may need a body lift (First time I EVER have modeled a "Body-Lift" for any model truck car or otherwise. SO, I was wanting Something in tire size 40 plus, and something insanely crazy tread, BUT could be kept "streetable". SO hows about Super Swampers TSL's? They have that HUGE size, AWESOME mud rippin' tread, and just a MEAN look. so I found some, from BnL Resins, BUT, due to budget limitations, I had to put them off (reason I sat this kit aside) BUT what was stopping me from adding them, to my Christmas list? NOTHING! And low and behold, My Step-Son brings me a gift card, for anywhere I wanted..... WELL you ALL know where that gift card went without a doubt! LOL So here they are: NICE castings too, with a little clean up, NO Air bubbles anywhere either!!!! A bit of paint, and some TLC to make 'em look the part, they'll be good to go! A second pic, sight different angle to show they do in fact have directional tread! Center point facing forward on both sides, with each side having embossed tire lettering facing out...... LOVE IT! To show the size!!!!! The black tires are the kits "Box Stock" tires!!!!! Man How I am lovin' this, just like McDonalds, without the food from them LOL Man does the flash of a camera make those tires "bright"..... Lets see if I can make them look a bit more like tires instead of glowing rings! Thats better...... NOW I got to take and see about fitting a set of Mopar Rallye rims to these babies, and try to get my frame set right for suspension height and see if I want to make a body lift or not...... I may do both! Just to be different and add another detail under my belt! I'd also would not mind making a set of fender flares to fit the truck, to allow these to stick out just a little more then normal too, and the rear of the fender may be sporting mud flaps! That are made to fit the trucks step-side bed! WAIT tho, theres something special gonna happen to the frame other then the swivel, but to the body detail itself! P.S. these tires were NOT the only items I got from BnL Resins with my gift card! I got some other things too...... Black plug wire being one of them! Sadly now, I'll be setting this truck kit aside, I pulled it out to add the newest kit parts to the box, so that when I do finally pick it up again, I'll be ready to roll on building the kit with everything together! I was last working on my "Father & Son" truck build adding the horn and some other small details to BOTH of those trucks! And was getting ready to indulge in Dads truck's interior...... ENJOY!

Dodge "A500" Phantom Flip Cab
426-Hemi replied to Gluhead's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
A500? Basically a Dodge L-700.......... NICE work tho, the leaf springs look GREAT.... NICE (REAL NICE) job on the cab corners!!!! -Whats yer plans for a power plant? -
Absolutely STUNNING Dale!!!!! That paint, the BMF, the engine the whole sha-bang looks K-I-L-L-E-R man! NICE JOB MAN..................
-
GREAT kit! I have got one of these in the works, (I'm un-able to air brush right now) SO it sits waiting for red paint! You plan to add a sort-of "Ram Charger" air intake under the hood for the openings?
-
OK this is gonna be an interesting one!!!!! Hemi in a bug............. I could take that all over the place, but will just follow along!
-
Absolutely STUNNING Dale!!!! NICE job on the finished body, that paint, O-M-G has a serious shine to it, and with the added BMF it is KILLER! The engine looks GREAT too. the wheels you choose fit that model, PERFECTLY! NICE work man! Thats how ya start off a new year!
-
Thanks guys, but the accident wasn't "recent" it happened back in July! I was working on this way back then and I'm now finally "able" to do a little more with it, I still have limitations but, nothing that completely impedes me from using my hands! I began working my hands after the accident, by modeling, building them, BUT at that time wasn't able to use heavy tools...... Now however, over 6 months later, I'm able to use heavy tools, I am just limited to how long I can use them. (the tools) so. I'm trying to pick up, where I originally let off to recover from the accident! Thanks guys! Much appreciated!

Well back to adding some pics to this whole mess..... (Actually clean-up but. its still a different sort of mess) The whole corner here is finally peg-boarded. And the walls look GREAT with the white on them, instead of that nasty looking old horse-hair plaster finish from the 40's..... This area, the whole room was to be a storage room for our house, NOT meant to look exactly "pretty". BUT, makes for a GREAT shop area!!!! Can make all the danged mess I want and not have a lot to worry about other-wise even tho, the mess will clean it all up a bit (organization) so...... So, I got the corner in, the peg-board goes right around, for this bench-area. I have since re-thought the top of that cabinet too. The white boxes are train sets and should not be there..... I moved them, and replaced them, with this: With that cabinet there, I'm still not sure, I like this, (it be easy to move elsewhere if I choose too) so. we'll see! A little further down the wall, I went back to place another "organizer", with several drawers in it, to be mounted, in-place. The black organizer: Thats all for this area right now! Because of other things that may belong here, elsewhere needing relocated..... SO, moving on, to another "area" I got to re-setting part of the bench I use for model cars.... Made some paint bottle racks, mounted right to the wall. and a tool holder above them thats magnetic, and a bench-top mounted oganizer as well..... This bench also sports a coffee warmer, and a Dremel Flex-Shaft machine suspended from the ceiling! All controlled by a variable speed foot pedal! Yeah, thats a BIG "Dremel" its an older Dremel "9000" Advantage, with a flex shaft attachment.... What a machine! (Was a gift from my Dad!!) -I also added high-mounted peg-board for model car supplies!!! -There has been other items in and around this area since this picture was taken! WOW! A "CLEAN" bench top! Imagine that!? Then you go around the corner...... This area once was my Wife's work bench for crafts..... She has been moved further to the right of this area! (Gave her a bit more place to be and storage for her stuff, that I'm also putting in place!) The cabinet stores spray paint cans, and other paint related items. This bench here is to be re-built too and will become a "paint bench", for mixing, and spraying and have a "leaf" that can be added or removed for bigger projects.... UNDER this bench will be a shelf, built to it, thats to house/hold all of my tools. Mini Dremel Table Saw, Mini Grinder, Mini bench-top Belt Sander, Mini Dremel "Moto-Lathe" for wood, so..... Kinda a "general" tool area underneath. The leaf to it will be 2 legged, and have removable pins to where it can go here, OR be connected to my other bench for extension to it, the machine bench, that has my Unimat on it.... BUT, down the wall from the wooden cabinet here, there will be a BIG shelf for my Wife's craft area for her to store stuff on, (something her area lacks right now.) Paper towel holder under that spray paint cabinet, and the wall BEFORE it got a peg-board covering. The work bench seen here is apt to be taken apart, and rebuilt, (its to low) so. and will provide materials for the bench to take its place! Thats it for now! Hopefully, have a lot done to this, and will be able to get back to some sort of modeling next week! (That will be NICE for 2016!!!!!)

Me, I tell ya thats a dang good question! I HAD a single Italeri Western Star kit that came in the brown box, the 6400 series truck that was an a 1989 model truck, I'd almost kill to replace that one! (The one I had, I lost in a house fire when my home place burnt!) -I learned to drive truck in one that was an old Atlas Van Lines tractor, had a 425 Cat in it..... Road Ranger 13 speed. What a nice truck for its time! Specially for a fleet truck, with a full bunk!! I also had: Monogram '69 Dodge "440 6 Pack" car, a 1969 Dodge Coronet Super Bee. AMT-Ertl 1978 International Transtar II Eagle COE tractor. (This one, I'd almost kill for mere parts of it right now!) -I had a couple of these way back when.... All of the above was lost in a fire when my old Home place burnt to the ground..... Everything else I had, I got at least a single car of that were "Mopar" I lost a ton tho.... Chevy and Ford in there.... Those I'm not to worried about sad loss however, not lookin to try and get those back, but the top 3, two tractors, and one car...... I'd love to locate one of each again if I could EVER afford too, that Italeri Western Star is a expensive one, (It was even back then) I paid quite a bit for that kit in the late 1990's! Now I can't imagine the cost!
