Was just a thought, (I got one to cough up a body line that has none NOT painted yet, BUT I'm not wanting a "line" to be apparent so I'm gonna do a molding stripe...... The 273, has to be thee best little 273 I've seen yet, for that engine (they different just enough, from the Mopar LA blocks), even tho they're an LA they were thee first "LA" so....... That all changed when the LA 318 came along! I've thought about setting out an designing a Poly-Head 318 or 325 to go into one of the A100's....... As it "pre-date" the A100 to be one of the earlier models..... I'd have to look that up to be certain, but it has crossed my mind! -

Thanks! They're almost a rubber like sponge, and have an odd swerve cut to fit around toes for painting.... Ask ya wife, she'll show ya LOL BUT the smooth side of this makes a GREAT raised letter, thinned paint applicator! -

This is CRAZY...... but the toe sponges they use to hold they're toes apart for nail painting, ALSO good, they make GREAT paint applicators for lettering or numbers embossed in the cars hoods or fenders, and even the air cleaners that have "Edelbrock" in them! -I'm guilty as charged LOL -
He ----^ Is right. I'd just find something small enough and coil a decent thin copper wire around it and make as much or as little as you want. THEN you remove it, pull either end, to make the length and size or distance between coils as you want..... Copper wire, if you go to Jo-Ann fabrics, or Micheal's they have 24 to 26 gauge BLACKENED necklace making wire, that is copper, but chemically coated black, that if you add a flat clear to it, will show up as a nice "wire" to almost anything, trans brake, trailer brake, CB lines, radio wiring, you name it.....Specially for things INSIDE the cab....Copper also holds its "shape" well too so tight or loose coils won't be an issue! Under the hood has a bit more into it, to get "the look". inside the cab, well you have a bit of obstruction to cover up anything not real "scale" where under the hood is right "in-your-face" out in the open..... (If that makes any sense)

I use pantyhose for paint strainers for air brushing, this however, is an interesting thought! Anyone have this? And got pics? I'd like to see it, before I embark into it......

Why not add in a body stripe to separate (straighten) the two-tone paint? Almost like a molding..... Looks great tho, you use the stock 273 V-8 that came with the kit? -
-I just want a #43 Superbird NASCAR and I'll call it good LOL (I'm TRYING to stray away from the Nascar models), but this one. WELL look at my screen name and then wonder "why"............

Right, the only real difference from the 383 to the 440, was the blocks BUT in model form, you'd never see that difference anyway! -383 was a B block and the 440 was an RB block, the difference was made up in the intake manifold! -On a model, you'd not see this! The decal you used, whats the off of? I ask, as I have a need for 383 air cleaner decals, and I'm trying to locate some for trade of parts and stuff I may have! -NOT seemingly easy, as it seems as I been building more 383's then 440's, so....... I'd also like to get my hands on MORE of the 426 Hemi air cheaner decals as well as the valve cover decals, BUT they just don't seem to be out there..... -
There are a few bridges that I cross with my '67 Power Wagon that is ok wide, (no "tops") BUT on the way to my Step-Sons garage there is 2 bridges single lane, that are to narrow for my truck! The first 2 times (I totally forgot the 2nd time around that the bridge literally is to narrow by about 6 inches for my pick up to cross it) BUT because of my truck, I just hooked 'er in gear and through the river I went....... LOL (I'ma mudder so....) BUT, the 2nd time around the wife was holding on to everything she could grab. Was a bit funny as it takes something more then slow moving water to move an 8,000 lb truck LOL

I'd LOVE to get my hands on a couple sets of the exhaust manifolds seen here! (They're REAL close to a Mopar "Poly-Head" 318!!!! (The OLD "A" motor BEFORE the time of the "LA" small blocks!

-I'm Diabetic.... SO, I have a supply whenever I need a single syringe. BUT those who are complaining, yes, its dang near impossible to find a needle for glue application, or thinned paint application, if you have no "need" to even have a syringe! Doesn't make sense, as I have what seems to be the perfect types of them for glue and in some cases oil application (my Machine center) use! -I've got some really interesting ones too!
-
Smooth On........? I know of Alumilite but this other one I haven't heard of!

GREAT story, and car (I'm a Mopar MANIAC) so.... and I have this same car! NICE work man! The 440, looks GREAT under the hood too! (Still have the scraped 225 Slant 6 by chance?) -
Thanks Gator! A lot done in the engine compartment for sure! I got a little more to add, to under the hood detail department, BUT I'm almost ready to move on to the next sub-assembly of the model here, the interior! More to come as I get things done! (I got to thinkin' I have a little to go back and do to my truck in this build under the hood too! Nothing real serious tho!)

Whats your work area like?
426-Hemi replied to Dann Tier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sean, I myself have had a GREAT relationship with the local hobby shops "Manager" for over a decade, when he got new shelving to reset the store, I was asked if I had interest in the old ones.... Naturally, the old ones used and pretty much beat (paint wise) but sturdy and all structurally SO, I took 'em, ALL for the taking I had to take them all to get just one but I had no issue with taking them all like that as they store pretty easily and at the time I got them, I myself was resetting the work benches in my shop so...... -And he knew that! Dave, the store manager, knew I had TONS of paint, I was always in there buying from him too! I got deals on all the Testors paint. I got Testors Model Masters "Metalizers" 5 for $1.00 in the end as it wasn't selling, and it was old (by a few years of shelf life) and for $16, I bought all he had! Right after that is when he seen me on my next visit, "Hey Johnny, ya need some paint shelving" I hear this and my ears begin to grow pointy LOL "Why yes, what ya got in mind Dave?" LOL -And thats how I got the racks I got! The other bit of advice I could tell you, is watch for stores closing, (I HATE THAT, but....) thats one good way to get old paint racks, OR a hobby shop thats moving/relocating, a lot of times (at least in my area) they sell off the empty racks, and get new for the new location.... These times, you might nail a rack for $5.00, maybe even less depending on how fast they wanna empty the place out..... -

Thats why I said "elements". a lot the same, used, stored differently.... to get much the same "end-result". Edit: I forgot to mention, I myself, buy when I see things at good prices (EVEN if that means I make a second trip) if the price is just "that good" so, being I shop when price is almost un-passable, I then must "store" items...... Hence paint, glue, parts, even tools (if found) for future builds and use. Things I know, I'll use! -
So now with The day of Christmas behind us, I thought I ought to get a bit of an update (I had to post-pone the build for Christmas) SO, I sat it aside for a week to get trades done, and get household Christmas things in order, in the shop mind you. SO, thats all behind me now, SO, back at building, I go..... With that said, I got a cold just before Christmas, (fun, I know!) BUT today I feel a bit better, and thought I'd get right to getting pictures! As you all know by now, I got the battery modified to look more like a Interstate battery, that my Dad used, SO, I got to posting pictures of it in place, but no battery cables in place, or anything..... I got that done just before I set it aside, just waited to have pictures taken of it. Battery cables in place, and mounted as they should be like that seen on my truck. I also got the top radiator hose in place, as well as all the A/C piping as well. A little bit of small details for now! Then seen here is the fender decals on the inner fenders. -They're added as well as the red alternator line feeding the battery across the front of the core support. As of this part, its getting down to the nitty-gritty now! I have yet to add in a horn, its wiring, and then I need to install the air cleaner. And the frame is D-O-N-E! I'll be off to picking up, where I let off on the interior details as a lot has to be changed in that to get to the body work! Stay tuned...... More to come as things get back into motion on this build! -Thanks for looking!
