  1. Yes, I neglected to mention the 24 under-the-pier mooring slips which make hosting post-regatta soirees a snap. As an additional bonus, each slip has its own overhead trap door which allows for quick, discreet "cargo" transfers to and from unmarked speed launches.
  2. Nice selection. Thanks for the link.
  3. Buy it and you'll be one of the fortunate few to own one of the extremely rare and hard to find homes that George Washington never slept in.
  4. My friend, today is your lucky day. I know it's not exactly what you were looking for; but, this beautiful, unrestored historic wre...residence has plenty of potential for the right person. I might be able to persuade the owner to let you have it for only $3.9 M which, I might add, would mean a personal sacrifice on my commission. I'm only doing this because I like you. Just sign here, here and here.
  5. You also have a leg up on most by possessing 3D printing equipment which not everyone can build or afford to purchase.
  6. Nostalgia, real or imagined, means big bucks. Using "retro" and/or "vintage" as selling points usually translates to a whole lot of ka-chings coming from the seller's register.
  7. Nope. 100% Gen-OO-Wine. Read about "Halfy" Rodriguez here.
  8. Those pesky "know-it-all customers" are annoying only when they actually do know as much, or, in some instances, more than the salesperson/broker. Some people actually perform research on the things they are considering to buy. This keeps both sides honest. To quote the late, great Sy Syms: "An educated consumer is our best customer." Gotta disagree with the last part of your quoted comment. If I'm shopping around for a car or house, or anything for that matter, I'm the one who's in charge of the relationship. I hold all the aces by virtue of my willingness to spend my money on something I want and the salesperson is trying to sell. I tell the salesperson/broker what my requirements are; and, it's his job, if he expects that commision check in his pocket, to accommodate me. If you, as a salesperson, can't satisfactorily accommodate my needs/requirements, I'll go elsewhere. Salespeople are experts in understanding human behavior and use psychology to manipulate potential customers to their personal benefit. Too many car salesmen/real estate brokers use the approach that they're doing you a favor by pushing something you're not interested in, or can afford, and that you should be grateful that they're even wasting their valuable time with you in the first place, essentially making the potential buyer feel obligated to complete the deal. They attempt to guilt trip you into a sale because the average prospective mark feels embarrassed to say "NO" so as not to look like a chiseler and, at the same time, offend the friendly, helpful salesperson.
  9. Checked out the .stl file for the '57 Star Chief wagon. 318 bucks plus the cost of 3D printing all of the parts....I'll pass. For that kind of mazuma, I might be able to find a real one in an upstate barn.
  10. The position of the windshield and vent window relative to the front door certainly imparts a Palmereque quality to it, don'tcha think?
  11. No cliffs around here. People get supremely pissed off getting pelted with stuff chucked off an apartment building roof. We did experiment in rocketry, though. We would "appropriate" acetylene tanks, drag them down to the lumberyard which was on the East River shore in our nabe and made a V-shaped launch rail out of two 3x12 planks elevated on some more lumber. Then, we set the tank onto the launch rail, shut-off valve at the rear, and proceeded to smack the valve with a sledgehammer. The dammed tank would take off and land a couple hundred feet into the river. In retrospect, it was stupid and dangerous. That said, It was still a lot of fun.
  12. Over 700 available channels and nothing to watch for only $189.99/mo. Zei gezunt.
  13. Absolutely brilliant, Tom! You were on target with everything in that article. You perfectly captured the essence of being a kid back then. Ah, the memories.......
  14. Reliving my modeling youth would require me getting cherry bombs and M80s to load into my completed projects.
  15. Yeah, yeah....I know. I was really feeling like crapp that day ( residual effects from a case of congestive chills and a touch of chrysoplas ) and took it out on the wrong people. For that, please accept my apologies.
  16. The future is now.
  17. The inability to focus one's mental faculties for more than four seconds or prioritize their activities in an orderly manner is an indicator of a short attention span, a trait shared by cats and Millennials. At least, cats can be excused for this deficiency. They're cats.
  18. Thanks for posting the link, Bill. A very interesting and insightful piece. A dumbed down society is far easier to manipulate and control by those who pull the strings. Jerry Springer should have never been allowed to leave Forest Hills. If anyone is interested, Will and Ariel Durant's complete 11 volume series "The Story of Civilization" can be downloaded at Archive.org. Definitely worth reading.
  19. Are you referring to Hobbyworld-USA? It's located in New Hampshire and the sole authorized Zero Paints dealer in the states. There is no way you were slammed with a $120 shipping charge. Better recheck the numbers. Here is Hobbyworld's info on domestic shipping: For Domestic Shipping within the USA Shipping is normally calculated by weight and destination. We have decided to go back to a flat rate shipping amount of $6.80 for all packages up to 10 lbs. Anything over 10lbs will go up to $13.80. That's it. We do also offer Media shipping rates for folks that buy JUST catalogs, reference books, decals, any other paper items that fit into a flat envelope. Again this is for JUST paper products. If you have a questions regarding shipping costs, feel free to email, call or PM on Facebook.
  20. You can make some real swell hose clamps by cutting a thin strip of aluminum foil and pressing it around the knurled outer edge of an igniter wheel taken off a cheap lighter, then gluing the strip around the hose. If you want ready made, there's this set from Model Car Garage or, this one from Detail Master.
  21. Thanks for the information, Art. The search continues......
  22. Would a modified roof from the '65 Galaxie 500 XL work?
  23. Original box art Why couldn't an optional hardtop have been included? I need one to construct a replica of a Zigmobile, owned by a guy in my neighborhood.
  24. Liberty NY......back in the late '70s, my friends and I used to head up to Grossinger's during the winter. No skiing, just lots of elbow bending and picking up ski bunnies. We were more successful with the former.
