Barbara Parkins. She was in the series "Peyton PLace". I had to suffer through that dreck on TV as a kid because Mom loved the show. She also starred in "Valley of the Dolls" along with Patty Duke, Paul Burke (Det. Adam Flint in the TV series "Naked City"), Martin Milner (Tod Stiles in "Route 66" and Officer Malloy in "Adam-12") and Sharon Tate.
If you have the opportunity, check out the actresses in pre-Motion Picture Production Code (also known as the "Hays Code) films. A lot of actresses who were stars in the late '30s to the '50s were cast in some meaty roles. That kind of skin wasn't seen again until 1968 when MPAA started rating films based on content.
Dorothy Malone. She was in "The Killer That Stalked New York", with Evelyn Keyes, which was on TV last week. Charles (Carlos, the Mambo instructor from "The Honeymooners") starred as the dirty rat in this film
Jean turned down the Donna Reed role in "It's a Wonderful Life" because she couldn't stand working with Jimmy Stewart again. Can't say I blame her.
"The More the Merrier" was on just last week along with "Reveille With Beverly" starring Ann Miller. I saw her and Mickey Rooney in "Sugar Babies" on Broadway in October 1979. Ann Jillian was in it also. I can't stand musicals, but this was an excellent salute to vaudeville and burlesque.
What do these two have in common?
I watch Movies!, GetTV, TCM, FXM and MGM. My son and I are big fans of the "dirty rat" school of cinema need our "hardboiled" and film noir fix. These are the channels that take care of it.
Barbara Stanwyck, Loretta Young and the actress who played Nova in "The Planet of the Apes" with Charlton Heston. i can't remember her name and I want to avoid cheating . I spend waaaaay too much time watching movies.
When filming scenes with Sophia Loren in "Boy on a Dolphin", Ladd had to stand on a box or the crew dug a trench for her to walk in during beach scenes. Loren was 2" taller (5'8") than Alan.
