  5. Hey Carl, sorry to hear about your building problems. That’s no fun at all. I can identify with you. With my hand tremors seemingly getting worse by the day, I often wonder how much longer I’ll be able to keep building models. For me, it’s all about how I support both the part and my hands when I’m working. As long as I can rest my hands on something solid, it seems to work ok. I have decided that when the time comes, I’ll try to lower my standards little by little, just to keep being involved in the hobby. I figure by the time I’m forced out, I’ll be back to building glue bombs!?. But I’m ok with that. Moral of the story is, just keep at it as long as you can, and just enjoy the process. Don’t put pressure on yourself to do perfect work. It’s all just for fun.?

  10. Had some time this afternoon, so I tried printing tires for the first time. I’m pretty happy with the results, although I think the Cooper Cobras might be a touch over exposed. Opinions? Anything you see that I could be doing better?
  11. Completed models are what exactly???
  12. I gotta say, I'm surprised by all the attention and positive feedback this build has gotten already. Really shows there's a lot of love and dedication for the old '40 Ford out there. I thank you all for your praise, tips, and advice for this project. Whether I follow your suggestions or not, I value each and every one of your comments. Thank you all and keep 'em coming!! At the end of the day, I have to follow my heart and vision for this old kit, and knowing my dad's taste for hot rods will help guide me there. So with that said, I think maybe the term "stock appearing" may be slightly off the mark. In this case, it should maybe be more like "stock resembling". I want there to be no question that this is a hot rod, but not over the top. When finished, hopefully it will be a very tastefully designed concept. Unless I totally blow it!? Now then, I've decided on the rims for this baby! I'll be 3D printing this design that I got from Z Force Model Works (his pictures below). No idea what they would have been on originally (if you know anything about them, please let me know). The rims will be painted black and the caps will be chrome. Not sure on what tires I'll use yet, but I'll size the rims to them once I decide. I will be going slightly larger in the rear.

  14. Nothing beats an ice cold beer on a hot summer night.
  15. That’s going to be really cool when you get it done. Nice work!
  16. Still up in the air for which engine is going into this. I still have a little time before I need to make a decision. Did quite a bit of clean up on the body and fenders today. There’s some flash and a couple of nasty mold lines, but nothing that can’t be dealt with. It should be expected from a mold of this age. I think I have the hood fitting pretty well. I expected more trouble from it. Seemed like it was really a matter of getting it to sit more towards the passenger side. The main parts I trimmed were the hood hinges. It’s not perfect, but much better and I can live with it now.
