We had it in our garage for a good while. Seemed like a pretty crazy start up procedure as well.

That leads me to my next thought because as you justly said he did things that looked right which doesn't always imply "measured right". I've heard a few reviews of his 907/8 kit and they all seem to voice that its not a 1/24 or even 1/25 kit but some odd size in between. Since I understand the actual 1:1 907/8 looked really small in person, perhaps his interpretation was to also make it look smaller then your normal 1/24 scale model? -

Wow, that's a cool car indeed. Seemed like Heller was the only one doing awesome cars like this back then. I wonder why they don't have similarly cool line ups now? At least it doesn't inspire passion in me. But back then when Phillipe was in, they seemed just killer. -
Hi, I came across this and really enjoyed it; http://www.tsrfcars.com/toys-heller.htm Kinda makes me think they were at the for front of all this stuff back in the day.

Very hard time with paint flow!
aurfalien replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Well, I was using a drop or 2 of dish washing soap in a 23ML Tamiya bottle. That didn't seem to make any diff. I do have Tamiya acrylic thinner but haven't used it yet as I'm unsure about ratios and weather its ok to mix in the paint bottle from fear of pigment breakdown. I used alcohol but simply by dipping the brush and then mixing with a few drops of paint in a palette. I suppose the Tamiya thinner is best but where should I mix it and what ratio? -

Ok cool, I'll try that. Gotta admit my experience with brushing on paint has been miserable. Sometimes it turns out good, other mostly bad so I end up stripping and starting over. Also, I've seen forum members use some kind of clay as a sticky stand during paint etc.. Is this plain old silly putty by chance? I've been using balled up tape which is hard to manage. -
Hi all, So I've Tamiya bottle acrylics and am having a hell of a time with em. They don't seem to flow smooth. I've tried tricks like dish washing soap and alcohol. Any tips on how to brush paint on Tamiyas smoothly? Thanks in advance.

How to shrink rubber tires?
aurfalien replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hi, The company who makes the kit said pretty much the same thing ya'll are sayin. At any rate, tape it is. And I cannot tell from the shot angle if any tape is there. Knowing your work, it would not be something easily pointed out as you sir, are a master craftsman for sure. I'll look for the 3M fromage. -
Hi, Any one know how to do this? I've a kit were the tires are just a tad bit too big for its wheels. I see a small gap and the rims are a bit tough to position right due to play. Thanks in advance.

Wow, looking at the assembly dirs, looks like a very nice kit.

Ford GT40 MkIV engine?
aurfalien replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Oh contraire mon fraire. I learned a very good amount, mainly that you both have a very high degree of knowledge and attention to detail. I also learned that there is no way I can, at my current skill level, produce an accurate scratch build of any kind. So I am building to impress myself, so far so good -

Ford GT40 MkIV engine?
aurfalien replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
What do you think about using the engine from a Cobra 427 SC kit? Fujimi and Revell/Monogram have what look like good engines; Fujimi 427 SC; http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10025342z/70/1 Revell/Monogram 427 SC; http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-4011.pdf * This is the Monogram kit, not the Revell one. UPDATE; After studying the instructions a bit, it seems the Monogram kit has a better rendition of the engine. For example, the distributor, carbs/air cleaners are integrated in the Fujimi kit. Were as they are individual parts on the Monogram kit. -
That beast was parked in the garage for a bit, took a few guys to start it.

Well, so far so good. I've gotten 1 of 2 completed. He said #2 will be done in a month or 2. I've found Ed@Island Collectables http://www.islandcollectibles.net/ to be very very good. Very prompt, consciences and all around very good.

For the last few years she ran us 7-10K/year which we gladly paid. She had an ophthalmologist, cardiologist and a neurologist but in the end, a brain tumor took her away. The songs etc that keep repeating in my mind are; Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling foofy girl, you are gone and lost for ever oh my darling foofy girl. And; All the kings horses and all the kings men, couldn't put my darling lil girl back together again. Just completely and utterly devastating to an order of magnitude.
