  1. To Bills point, it's not about tech but about how poorly its applied. The world has gotten so fast that there isn't enough time to make it right. There is only time to make it competitive and profitable.
  2. Dayam, I think Bill just gave a major face palm!
  3. Well, I feel the profit has shifted. Margins on cars are so thin that the manufacturers have shifted to making cash on the back end via maintenance. As for ability, dude my gramma who was born in a barn pre WW2 could turn a wrench and helped me with a timing gun/gaping points before. But now, pffffftttt fo-git-bout-it.
  4. You never really needed one. Just a near by Sears and Pep Boys and your good to go (for tools and parts).
  5. All true for sure and for the masses. But for us, ppl who like to tinker, MPH and bitchen engineering are irrelevant. I like to tinker, and Bill brings up the point of working on your own gizz. I think congress is still wrestling with the "Right to repair act", dude I can't even work on a Nissan Cube for Pete's sake! I think this will be a boon for aftermarket though.
  6. Well, from a kit car perspective, I'm going V8 for simple raw power, carbs and all. Nothing fancy. Besides new cars these days don't really do much for me. I've a daily commuter and then a weekend funster.
  7. Ah, good name drop on HLP,. Will check em out in the future.
  8. That's interesting. I paid with credit card (no middle man like Pay Pal) and will be charged upon item ship, not sooner. It could be that you used PayPal which incurs immediate item charge?
  9. So it looks like the Union/Heller kit it must be. MFH won't sell the engine parts, oh well. I'll simply have to keep my eye out for these kits in more affordable form. Thanks to all for the guidance.
  10. Well said Matt@Yorkshire. True dat on all points.
  11. Well, one can easily file a complaint with the credit card of choice which I've done in the past with other vendors. And successfully I might add. Believe me when I say merchants do not want to jeopardize there Visa standing. Consumers have much more power then one would think. The thought of getting one over you enrages me. Even if its a dollar, the thought of a fast one is, well, "homy don't play dat". There was an old saying in a Serbian village my gramma grew up in, translated; You spit in my eye... ... I'll piss in yours.
  12. Wait, so he charged you before sending out the item(s)? He usually only charges when items ship.
  13. I think its a natural evolution of the design. I can't wait till the guys at Top Gear get a hold of it.
  14. Man that looks like Woody from Toy Story.
  15. Jeremy, would you ever consider putting out some type of kit once you are done with these projects? It could be as simple as how to get the custom printed parts and what to kit bash etc... And basic assembly instructions. But the body I think is best sold by you. I see that you have a company that sort of does this already.
  16. Don't forget me, I love festest the Porsche too...
  17. Oh perfect, many thanks. While I'm still waiting for the Fujimi kit, I probably would not have guessed that one even if the kit was already here. Again many thanks. BTW, so the answer is the first one, I'm missing brain cells.
  18. I too am sad about them. I love the cars, the history of em, etc... The only thing worse in my eyes would be Ferraris in a similar state. Yes I love ol American muscle too. But those were made so due to aftermarket etc... Think Deuce Coupe, Beach Boys etc.. But Porsche, man out the factory they were special.
  19. Completely and utterly riktor scale! CraPHtsman to an order of magnitude bro, seriously. The subject matter makes it even more so. Very unique.
  20. Nice post, thanks Gaute.
  21. Well, I can say from an IT perspective, many tech jocks I know are doing computers after work as well cuz they can't get enough. So I'd say if some one is truly stoked over scale models, they'd do it for a profession and as a hobby. I know some guys who surf professionally and love surfing during there off hours as well.
  22. How would you compare it to the documentary posted other then its more details? Are they consistent with each other?
  23. Ahhh, good points Bill. Its funny though, guys from larger places have a seemingly harder time of adapting to smaller envs but the opposite is true of people coming from small places going to larger ones. The poke GM in the face thing smells of ego which after all, is one of the 7 deadly sins I believe? All I really have to say about DMC is that it sucks to be out of a job, as they all were in the end. And also that it was cast perfectly in Back to the Future.
  24. So do you think it coulda worked under different leadership while in Ireland? They seemed very willing, able and vested in the product. And I always thought were there is a will, there is a way.
