Hi, Powering through it my friend, powering through it. My final color I think anyways. I'm aiming for just a touch of satin but otherwise velvety. Will try and spray tomorrow night as I'll be setting up 4 rather nice 5000K daylight bulbs tonight for night time painting. I have a wing picked out and will build arms for it tonight.

Hi, Many of the AMT images seem empty but the splash page has this image on it. Would any one happen to know what race car that is? Looks sorta like a Javelin?

Using air brush; coats and times etc...
aurfalien replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hi, I'm using a touch of clear to give it a satin sheen. The flat was a bit too flat and I don't really wish a full gloss for this build. When you spray, is it multiple light coats that are some what wet? -
Hi, I've been practicing on plastic spoons as I tire of constantly stripping my models. As I thought to have finally gotten things down but still getting sub optimal results, I come to find that I mixed needle and nozzle sizes. OMG what a difference a matching needle/nozzle set makes! So upon re learning and more practice, I've the following picture. My technique thus far using Tamiya acrylics; 2 parts Tamiya clear 6 parts Tamiya flat red 12 parts Tamiya lacquer thinner I apply 2-3 light coats to where it's a tad wet and wait until each coat is touch dry before continuing. My PSI is 16 and about 4" from the subject. What do you think?

fords upcoming mustang

Hi, The car has a great design, like the hot tub jacuzzi dash board, the pig with sunglasses front end and the tear drop ceiling and speaker grills. Plus the moon, water color theme on the dashboard is very cool. But the CVT sux and it does try to control downhill speed. I about had it today as I floored it and the CVT took forever to get is a$$ in gear, just barely avoided a wreck ahead. Hoping to chip the tranny for a more aggressive profile. What a POS tranny. PS But then again an aggressive chip may fry the tranny as I've heard others with Cubes have tranny issues. I've not had issues as I know how to baby machinery, it;s almost like I can hear and feel them. -
Hi, WOW, fantastic paint job!

Hi, And hella fun to drive. I'm sad that with new cars one is so isolated from the experience of driving. -

Hi, I agree, there CVT sux. It in fact does not keep the engine in the sweet spot however if I feather the throttle just right, I can manage a bit. I think it may keep the engine in the sweet spot MPG wise but certainly not the speed/fun spot. -

Hi, It's too bad as he has killer stuff on his site. The Camero TA body kit looks cool. -
Hi, I totally love the profile etc of this! Not too big like drag slicks would have been, just perfect.

Reliable Resin?

Hi, It surprises me that in this day and age of an ever shrinking world were word gets out about as fast as the speed of an electron, that companies still pull this off. Just weird. -
Hello and thank you sir. I'll post more pics tonight and thank you for the encouragement.

Hello Monsignor Randy and thank you! Well, after more practice and reading, turning down the pressure to ~18PSI is better. However once I get the bigger needle (going from .4mm to .6mm) I'm sure things will change yet again. I've also removed the rear wing to bring back the nice line of the rear again as the 308 had a nice trunk line for sure. I'll post pics of my proposed wing which will be above the trunk and a little forward.

Hi and thank you sir. I too hope Revell does this as well.

Hi, Just catching up to this. Your build process is just so clean and meticulous. I'm going to try and emulate for sure. This is awesome BTW, hope it finds it's way to Norm in form of an HRM trans-kit as I would definitely by it. Not my normal subject matter but this is awesome!!!

Hi and thank you sir. Did my final test spoon spray and was very happy with the results. My formula; 1/6 Tamiya clear, X22 2/6 Tamiya flat red, XF-7 3/6 Tamiya lacquer thinner 20PSI from a .4mm needle but wished I had my .6mm which is on order. Perhaps I'll wait for the .6mm before final coat. Also did final final prep on the body before final coat and made a front wind shield. No side windows as I'll have Nascar style netting instead. I don't like spraying at night due to lack of full light and will probably do it in the early AM. Or wait for my .6mm needle/nozzle/cap.

CA Glue Brand Preference
aurfalien replied to JPolli's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi, Well I buy whatever is at the dollar store being; Loctite Crazy Blue Gorilla Glue And they all work well enough. But to me, the finest that I use sparingly in specific scenarios is Zap a Gap thin CA. When do I use it; Securing very small parts Filling very small holes Super bond needs However I'm inexperienced so take what I post with a grain of salt. -
Hi, Wow this is soooooooo goooooooood. You make me wanna get this kit, but I stop because hey, I'm not Bernard Kron. This is simply put; simply masterful!

Hi, More drama... I found out that if my base coat or primer coat is not an even color, it effects the top coat. I had some last minute sanding and used a much lighter primer then the rest of the car. Well it got splotchy but at least I think I got my final color mix down. So here is my 5th stripping and EVEN primer coat. I also decided to cut off the side and front skirts/valence to paint them a different color cleanly. More tomorrow.
