  1. Very nice. I may have to eventually add some to the pile, as it were.
  2. I use Ziploc bags; way cheap, and work just great. These in turn are then stored in Rubbermaid containers.
  3. Interesting tires on the Stanley. Was that before they started putting carbon black in the rubber?
  4. A Tamiya T-Shirt? I had no idea such a thing was sold.
  5. Cool video, and I really liked that song by Willy.
  6. Deal! This is a prop from a 1:72 Fokker D.VII. You can see that one half is still in the acrylic wood base color with only a light oil finish applied, while the other side has had the darker oils added. Before and after: And a 1:350 Titanic model I had been working on some time back. Before: After: Perhaps not the best examples of the concept, but the best I have at the moment.
  7. Yea, facelook is about useless for the most part. I tend to go there infrequently, and I post little or no personal data when I am there. The odd thing, is getting friend requests from people I never heard of; same with LinkedIn. Very wierd.
  8. I'm with you, Al. Sometimes my stuff is put up so well, it's safe, even from me.
  9. Are you intending to use any oil paints on the tan color to make it look more like wood? The reason I ask, is that I have an HMS Bounty that I intend to paint with tan acrylics, then use oil paints to bring out a nice wood grain appearance.
  10. I discussed this with my family. Without a will stipulating what's what, they feel free to do whatever they choose with my junk, so it really needs to be in writing. I feel the exact same way about a family member stating that all of her very expensive jewelry goes to a specific cousin. If it's not in a legal document, I'll sell it all and pocket the cash, and the cousin can cry all she wants.
  11. I'd like to do at least one tired old dog one day, perhaps resting in a field somewhere, but to be quite honest, this sort of project you've linked to, generally does zero for me, real or otherwise.
  12. Was that the one with the camper shell? That's one of my grail kits.
  13. Very soon I'll be grabbing a 4x8 sheet of plywood and some 2x4's to build myself a small bench here in the basement where I currently live. Working on the dining room table completely blows, though it's better than nothing I guess.
  14. From what I've seen, this is a fairly common dilemma. I, like many here, have a predilection for certain types of cars and trucks, and tend to view (and sometimes comment), on them, while basically ignoring the rest. I only have a certain amount of time I can dedicate to surfing this forum, so I tend to concentrate the use of that time on what's important to me. Also, many, many views of a topic, with correspondingly few comments, is quite normal. One of your topics has almost 3,000 views. Somebody is paying attention to your efforts. I'd also point out that this is a very active forum, with many updates throughout the site hourly it seems, so of course items that are slightly less active are going to get buried; that's just the nature of the beast, and happens to all of us. For whatever it’s worth, you may also consider starting your own blog, develop whatever following you may receive, and control the dominant features as you see fit.
  15. Me too, Tom. I spotted a green and black Peterbilt photo on the web, and decided that a modified version of that scheme might just look really cool. We'll see I guess.
  16. I opened a brand new kit one time and found a roof mashed like that.
  17. Saw this issue at one of the two LHS's I deal with today; didn't buy it though, too little cash. Very nice Duesenberg on the cover though, I liked that a lot.
  18. Yep, I (and several others, including the LHS owner), sent a huge package to them. Now I'm in a rather car model poor environment though, so I tend to hang on to what little I have.
  19. No offense meant at all, Bill, but that reminds me of a dust buster. I had one years ago (dust buster that is), and they look remarkably similar.
  20. '75 Buick Century (stock) is one that pops to mind. The one Century that I'm aware of (oddball scale Lindberg kit), is not exactly the same, nor are the wheels that come with the kit. The same is true (as far as I’m aware) of the ’95 Cougar XR7 that I currently drive, to name but two.
  21. My biggest reason is that I get more interested in something else, than what I'm presently working on. Like a little child, I'm very easily distracted. My life space is littered with (temporarily) abandoned and neglected projects.
  22. I'm with you. My biggest problem being that there are no stock car model kits that exactly match those cars that I've owned, making recreating them in miniature nearly impossible.
