I'm leaning toward either green and black, or blue and black. It seems there are a zillion ways to paint them, so I have several ideas.

For the most part, the el cheapo oven cleaner has done its work, and the majority of the chrome is now gone. A base coat of white lacquer now seems in order. (I doubt I'll do much besides paint it up a little, no wiring or anything, as I've decided to anchor the hood in the closed position.)

Exactly what I'm doing right now (sort of), except that I'm using a no name generic oven cleaner from the dollar store. Roughly 75% of the chrome is already gone after this first 15 minute soak.

In my haste to glue the sleeper together all those years ago, I left a nasty gap at the top that I have now added a strip of plastic to. Not accurate by any stretch, but OK with me, and I doubt the judges will care either, if they even notice it.

I appreciate that, I really do, but the stripes are all out of proportion to the real thing. I didn't really take note of that inaccuracy until after all the masking came off.

Looks really good. I hope my first big rig turns out as nice.

I tried that in 1:72 scale, but pretty well bungled it. It got left behind when I moved a few months ago.

I see nothing wrong at all with that marketing idea, and wish they had been released with some decent female figures, if for no other reason than the novelty of it.

I'm amazed at how many times I've bought a kit, only to discover that I already had one (or two) in the stash, and I'm even worse with books. When I actually want multiple copies of a kit, that's one thing, but to not even be aware of what I already have, is pretty sad indeed. Below is a snap of my latest addition to the senselessly large stash, the WNW Albatros D.V, destined for markings of a Jasta 18 (Raven) scheme.

Bad news; the sleeper was glued together so poorly, that much rivet detail was being erased while sanding the joints, so I've just went ahead and sanded the whole thing smooth. Hopefully, the absence of all the rivets (I have no intention of trying to replace them), won't adversely affect the overall appearance of the truck. (I really need to get my light tent up and operational.)

I love the 1:48 Tamiya kits. As to modeling buddies being more than generous, for some bizarre reason, I've been the recipient of over a dozen cool kits in the last year, and now have a brand new WNW Albatros D.V winging my way as well, compliments of a member of another forum I belong to. About two months ago, I received this as a gift, then subsequently discovered that I already had one in my stash.

That's a real good price for that kit.

Oh, I did push my limits,... now I owe $40,000!

Or the fact that the good guy always pulls back the slide on the pistol he's been firing, before he goes "into action" again, when in fact he'd just be ejecting a live round.

I love the clicking sound whenever anyone spins the open cylinder in a double action revolver.

Agreed, and those cannons inflicted some wicked damage.

I did something similar with a small Bonhomme Richard kit when I was a kid (Pyro kit?). Floated it in a neighbors pool until we blew it up with firecrackers and watched her sink to the bottom. Silly putty as ballast.

In my old home, I was fortunate enough to have a fairly large dedicated hobby cave. Now I work mostly from a dining room table or my computer desk, airbrushing in a corner of the basement until I can get my paint booth reassembled.

No paint for me either where it won't be seen. No reason to waste the paint.

Please tell me this is not a trend that's going to survive, or I'll have to vomit.

I have a limited ability to recognize my limits.

I'm pleased that I got down about 250 square feet of R38 insulation in the attic. Still more to add, but I'm well over 70% done with it for now.

By now, my first cars have probably been turned into other stuff, none of which is worth owning.

As a die-hard Challenger fan, I find this to be,... sad.

Interesting stuff here. I'm learning a few things, and that's always good.
