  1. Thanks a bunch, Dave, I appreciate the encouragement. As a relative newcomer to car modeling, it pleases me to make any forward momentum on a model of this sort, as it's such unfamiliar territory to me.
  2. I have to ask; can this kit be built stock? If so, I'll need to add it to my growing "wants" list.
  3. As someone that has spent years purchasing military models and AM (including some large scale stuff), I view car modeling as one of the more economical modeling choices. So far my efforts have been confined to OOB curbside representations, so cost per car kit is, all things considered, minimal.
  4. I've been thinking a lot about this subject since yesterday (probably too much), and have come to realize that threads that don't get updated unless they meet a certain criteria, would lead to a very boring site indeed, as probably many posts could be viewed as frivolous, based upon strict guidelines of perceived relevance. I've also come to the conclusion that I like the site just the way it is, with my choosing what and when to view whatever interests me.
  5. I liked the Li'l Coffin the best of them all. Thanks for the link.
  6. Even if you mess it up, you can then always delete that particular post.
  7. ppl undoubtedly means people, and WIP means work in progress.
  8. Find the link you want to copy, copy it, type in an appropriate phrase like this or here, highlight it, then using the link button above (the one that looks like a chain), just past the link into the appropriate box space. There are other ways, but this is the easiest I've found.
  9. I agree, Bill, but not everyone even knows the right questions to ask. I was somewhat embarrassed to ask similar questions a few years ago, but it was the only way for me to learn what I wanted to know.
  10. Not a problem for me, as uBlock prohibits me from even seeing it's there. I've been using blocking software for so long, that I'd almost forgotten what it's like to see stupid ads all over the place.
  11. I believe he's referring to using a word or phrase to insert a hyperlink, rather than the text of the hyperlink itself, like this, as opposed to this: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/115781-going-overboard-with-post-quoting/?do=findComment&comment=1673607
  12. Looking great. The only car model that I can recall building that was similar, was a silver and red job, but the name of the driver eludes me right now.
  13. The all black looks great.
  14. Yep, just select the image, hit the back key, and it's gone.
  15. I'm probably as guilty as anyone, and I am aware of that. I post updates to show progress, any progress, as well as problems I encounter, possible solutions, and for more than any other reason, participation. I asked a similar question on a forum many years ago, and the answers then, were similar (very similar) to the answers now; yes, some folks go overboard big time, some show too little, and I'm free to ignore whatever I don't like or find interesting, which I do all the time.
  16. This happens on sites all across the web. I suspect you'll never completely change human behavior, no matter how many times it's suggested that they should not do it, unless it's specifically germane to their response.
  17. No doubt. I've never met a serious modeler yet that didn't have some horror stories.
  18. The Billy Preston song “Will it go ‘round in circles” comes to mind here, as I repaint portions of the seats,… again. I got ahead of myself here, painting the seats again, before insuring that I’d corrected the mistakes that led to the need for a repaint to begin with.
  19. We could probably start a whole thread just on this subject. My worst experience, car modeling wise, was years ago. Putting the final coat of urethane on a car that actually looked great, I got too close and blew the thing right off the covered table saw, and into a pile of sawdust!
  20. Oh, man, I've done similar stuff, and I just hate it when I do.
  21. Thanks a bunch. I had earlier determined to paint the hood satin black, so I've now went ahead and done that.
  22. Excellent looking model, truly excellent.
  23. I'm with you, so far I'm not really impressed with doing the BMF thing, but it just needs to be done, so I suck it up and just do it.
