  1. Looks good, Harry. I'm intending to do the same for my model car decals. Once a model is finished, all of the decals will go into heavy plastic sleeves (that I "liberated" from and old workplace).
  2. OK, I finally opened the new package of BMF (for an airliner I'm working on) and the sheet is perfectly without flaws, so I guess the chrome I purchased was just a bad batch or something. It's my luck to get one that's messed up.
  3. The '69 is nearing completion, Ace, hopefully just a few more days now. is your Roadrunner posted here anywhere? I don't recall seeing it.
  4. While I'm certainly not Harry, I don't believe so, based upon comments by Gregg in this thread (post #1). On another forum that I belong to (that uses a slightly older version of the software used here), those that have died or been banned, have that information notated underneath their user data, but I haven't seen that here, even though I'm fairly certain that a few of the more obnoxious chaps that I recall, have been given the boot.
  5. Thanks, Peteski. The last car I used BMF on, was built over 15 years ago, perhaps 20, and the foil used at that time had gone weird after all this time, so I bought some new stuff. It arrived still sealed (naturally), but with numerous wrinkles in the product. Anyway, I'll keep on doing the best I can, and just learn to live with what imperfections I'm experiencing, hopefully getting better at it as I go along.
  6. Looks real good so far.
  7. Very nice. I've always liked the gassers.
  8. Very nice. I feel really bad now, for working on one box stock car for three months!
  9. I'm with you, Joe, there are some great folks here. My experience here this past year, has been quite positive. Hopefully, I'll continue to learn and improve, and keep having fun with the other folks here.
  10. I think that's common on most sites, most of the ones I'm familiar with anyway. Lots of members, but only a small contingent (say 200) that post regularly, many silent member/lurkers, and folks that have just lost interest and moved on. I view a lot here, but manage to post on only a very small percentage of what I see. For what it's worth, MCM seems to be very busy compared to many modeling sites.
  11. Thanks for the input, Pete. For the most part I think I'll be able to work it out. I may (rather shamelessly) start building more '30's cars of the type that just don't have much chrome to begin with.
  12. At least I'm fairly confident that a dark wash is going to help blend it all together. I tried that on a '70 Challenger T/A, and it really helped a lot.
  13. Well, I was finally able to summon the courage to attack a wheel well this afternoon. I realize this is far from stellar, but I'm OK with it. (I also had to patch a small piece, but it doesn't hardly show.) My single biggest problem seems to be that I shake like crazy (too much coffeine) and have a heck of a time, starting and stopping, then starting again where I think I left off, leaving cuts that frequently do not match. The fact that the trim is not sharply defined on this kit certainly doesn't help matters either.
  14. That's actually a very good idea, so thanks for that. I have mostly just been using my 6" ruler, cutting the pieces a tad larger than what I really need.
  15. Looks nice. I have a '65 convertible to do eventually, so I'll be eyeballing this, that's for sure.
  16. Thanks for all the good pointers, fellas, hopefully I can put this information to good use down the road.
  17. It turns out I already had it bookmarked, though I don't really remember adding it, so thanks. Sometime this year, I'll be snatching the Dragon kit with the rocket launchers slung on the side. That vehicle is just too neat.
  18. I assume the term outhouse doesn't mean the same thing there that it does here?
  19. Thanks, fellas. I like to think this model has taught me a few things, and I don't intend to make a lot of the same errors on the '71 I'll soon be starting.
  20. Has any model company ever done a '69 convertible Cougar model?
  21. Oh and yes, I do tend to be "frugal' with some supplies. Perhaps that's a trait I need to change.
  22. OK, Steve, Richard, points taken. Steve, the sheet is just a few months old and arrived that way. All the wrinkles run lengthwise, so I make all my cuts in the same direction. Those wrinkles are bad enough that if I cut across them, the strips just break at those wrinkles, every time. I always try to store the stuff dead flat, and try to take care not to bend it all to heck. I have a brand new sheet of aluminum (not chrome) here right now, but haven't looked at it yet to see if it too is damaged or not. If it is, I may just have to seek out a new vendor.
  23. I may just do that, Joe, so thanks. The German half-tracks are so cool. I have quite a few decent books on the Sd.Kfz series, but the Ryton book would be the cream of the crop, I'd imagine.
