  1. Thanks, Joe. I think it's actually going to turn out well.
  2. Goodyear Polyglas decals now added on the tires. These decals are really excellent, being printed by Cartograf.
  3. Headlights now all polished and given an acrylic clear coat (on the backside). Thank goodness I have at least three kits to select parts from, as three out of four in two kits, had sink marks in the headlight center, right where the stupid post is; very frustrating, to say the least.
  4. Good idea. I'll give that a try. Thanks.
  5. Yea, I should have known the lacquer was a bad idea. The good news: even though it's still a bit tacky, I think that once decals are added and spritzed with some flat acrylic, it'll be fine. I'll paint the other three with acrylics only.
  6. For me, a truly state of the art new '70 Dodge Challenger R/T would certainty get my money. I'd prefer many, many options, hoods, wheels, hardtop and convertible, engines, etc. I'd buy several.
  7. Yesterday I had occasion to try spraying clear lacquer (Testors) on a test rubber tire from the Monogram '70 Challenger T/A kit. Today the sidewall is still sticky, and I'm now wondering if clear acrylic would have been a better approach. Thoughts? Thanks a bunch.
  8. Wow! It now seems like a good item to just ignore. In the long run, I intend to do a '70 R/T convertible, and thought it would be nice to find an accurate dash, but now I'm thinking of just using what's in the box and forget about it. I will buy instrument dial decals though. Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it.
  9. It would seem that none of the Revell or AMT '70 Challenger R/T kits includes an accurate dash. Is there one available somewhere? Thanks a bunch,
  10. I've known some chaps that have a compressor in their garage, and just hard pipe air lines to the interior spray area. If need be, you can also build a sound suppressor/barrier system around the compressor.
  11. The tank, when full, tops out at about 900psi. I think the pressure regulator limits that to about 50 or 60psi at the airbrush though, which is three times what's normally needed.. With this setup, you can also easily run a compact HVLP or LVLP spray gun, like the ones Iwata makes.
  12. The beauty of CO2, all the pressure you could ever need (and then some) perfectly quiet, and absolutely no moisture. One tank lasts my roommate and myself an average of two years. Pressure regulator is a separate purchase, but will last for years.
  13. The first car model I've bought in ages, purchased specifically for the hood that I mangled on my current T/A project.
  14. No, never. I have no idea, but the CO2 works just great.
  15. I skipped the compressor thing many, many years ago, and now just use a 20lb CO2 tank.
  16. Yes, that would be great. Thanks.
  17. Well, I completely trashed the hood, so decided to finish polishing this baby while I await the replacement kit. I lost some tiny decal bits in the process (specifically on the passenger side), but may just leave it as-is, and mention that on the contest entry form.
  18. I've heard the name before, or at least it seems like it, but have no idea who he is.
  19. That was exactly my problem, I have no idea how this was done on the real cars, though I do now have a somewhat better understanding.
  20. I also rather like the completely flat look (both rear and front tires/wheels the same diameter, but if I decide to go the other route, dropping the front end should be a snap. Thanks a bunch, I really do appreciate the input.
  21. I'm currently planning my next car model, a Revell '32 Ford sedan. I've downloaded quite a few photos, and fairly frequently the front end seems lowered. Is this actually a lowered front end, a raised rear end, larger tires on the rear, or a combination of the three? Thanks a bunch,
  22. Once the model is finished, I never keep the boxes. I do however occasionally buy specific old boxes for display purposes. You know, man cave decorations.
  23. When I get around to my own kit, I intend to sand off that roof panel. I never did care for that (on the real cars.)
  24. I decided that I couldn't live with the warped hood, so just to expedite matters, I snatched another hood from a different kit.
