  1. I just started my 1967 Pontiac GTO build and it has the optional blower motor, I have been searching in what seems vain to find a good reference pic for the blown motor any help would be amazing! Thanks in advance.
  2. This is the video I got from here that helped me out. Maybe it can help you too. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWmDDhf1nNnxvW9Jh_uNc9PkIUZm167M6
  3. I'm new to all of it but I recently did some rust on the undercarriage and found for me using acrylic and a sponge to apply it work very well.
  4. Thank you everyone, I hope to get some cups, bottles, pressure reg, water trap and time soon. I will try and pay pics of my progress so everyone who has helped along the way can see the help in action.
  5. It's cool to know I stumbled onto an old trick. I have begun to feel that the old ways in most cases are the best. It is true though that in today's world everything that is "NEW" has already been done for years. It's kinda hard to find many things that are truly new anymore.
  6. Thank you Bill, I chose to wait on the working headlights for now (this is my first real build and felt I should take smaller steps) but I will be doing it in the future and your diagram helps. It is what I am use to, I tend to over think many things and did so with this one.
  7. A quick sign of my ignorance, I just finished my first build and am wondering why an engine stand? Now don't get me wrong I like them and want to build one for my son to grow collection simply for the joy of the build as well as for display, but do they afford in the building and painting process?
  8. Okay so I want to get some thoughts here. I just finished my first build, it took roughly a week to complete. I have already read on here what sounds like most people investing much more time into there builds, I am new to the hobby and like to do things right, how long do you feel a good build should take? For ease of varying schedules how many hours about. My one week build is maybe 6 hours I would guess.
  9. This is a great question! I just finished my first build and found the exact same problem. I'm hope you and now we can find some good answers to this. Hopefully I will be lucky enough to find the answer before my next build, and I hope I can have enough self control to wait for my next.
  10. For the mud paint the tires with a water and white glue solution then take ground up brown sidewalk chalk and roll the tires through it. That's what I did and you can use it to dust the car body as well for light dirt or go heavy for mud. Thank you for compliment.
  11. Okay so this is my first build but I'm trying some harder skills to start so please share any and all constructive criticism. Thank you.
  12. Okay here are some more pics let me know what you think. Not done yet but getting real close. Please let me know what you think, without the aid of everyone on here it would not be what it is, again thank you everyone.
  13. Finally got some pics, the mud job is nothing in comparison to the Jeep but it's good for the car.
  14. So finally got some more pics, almost done.
  15. Amazing paint skills, it's coming out beautifully.
  16. Welcome Russ, I myself just started building again after more then 20 years of not. I am just about done with my first build and have found this site to be a holy grail for all builders. The members on here are an amazing wealth of knowledge and very helpful. Have fun, be patient and ask questions you will find the help here.
  17. And yet another great tip! I have to say I love this site I'm tapped into some amazing knowledge here. Pete I would probably never known there was such a thing as airbrush lube had you not shared that again thank you.
  18. I'm still new to the hobby, but have been painting for many years on just about any job I do I prime it first. I found by priming you get as smooth and consistent of a final job as possible. As far as what primer of I'm going rattle can I have the cheapest primer you can find is prefect! On bigger automotive jobs with the spray gun it's a bit tricky to find the best. More factors there, so if you want to use automotive quality paints I would do some research and get some practice materials.
  19. So I just tried this out and I'm pretty happy with the results, (I don't have pics yet but will try and have them tomorrow) I ground up brown sidewalk chalk into rough dust, mixed Elmer' so school glue and water then painted the treed of my tires with the glue water, rolled the tires in the dust and had perfect muddy tires. Has anyone else done this? What we're your results?
  20. Thank you for your tips Pete, I removed the the needle and everything solely for Redgrave in the pic because of asking people to aid in identifying the airbrush. It had say in my toolbox for the lady few years assembled. I do not think the needle is damaged but had no clue how to check our repair it so your top there may just be a life saver thank you.
  21. Thanks Gabriel I was given the airbrush years ago as a gift, I am glad to hear that is good though
  22. Thanks Mike I see what you mean, I will try and get some more views posted tomorrow
  23. Perfect! Mike thank you for sharing. I was thinking it might be around that I typically would run my sprayer at about 20 psi when painting 1:1 cars so I thought the airbrush would be the same. I remember the horrible results I had learning to use my sprayer. Found myself repainting the car a few times to fix mistakes.
  24. Wow thank you everyone and thank you for telling me about the candle I see your point there very well. The light bulb is a great idea too. I am curious what you guys think about the dents I did, I love constructive criticism.
  25. Cool thanks, looks like I need to find a regulator and water trap now. Can anyone give me an idea of aproximitly what pressures I should be working with? I'm sure it changes with different paints but hoping there isa starting point?
