Quarantine Build #2 complete. Revell Snap Tite Max Ford Raptor 1:25 Scale. This is a super nice kit for a Snap Tite. I tried to finish it as close to a 1:1 that I could using many reference pictures. It is painted using Scale Finishes Ford Blue Flame Metallic, cleared using Splash Paints 2k clear coat, and polished out using automotive polishes. The fender flares, bumpers, and air dam are painted with Tamiya Acrylic Gunmetal, no clear on top of these. All other parts are painted with various Tamiya Acrylics. It has 35” Scenes Unlimited BFG Mud-Terrains and I also added a spray in bed liner to help on the details. Soon to be a tow rig, so be on the lookout for more posts of this one with a trailer as soon as I get it built up.

Thanks man! I’ve seen these kits built but nobody seems to want to paint the flares and bumpers the color that they’re supposed to be. Everyone does black. I mean it looks great but I want to make it as close to correct as possible. I’m glad mine makes you want to build one that’s awesome! That red will look amazing on it.

Got some more work done this afternoon. I taped up all the trim and hood and painted them semi gloss black. I have a couple of other things left that need to be sprayed, like the door handles, tailgate handle, rear bumper pad, and front air dam. The bed has a spray in bed liner look as well. I used the same method I use to do vinyl roofs. 3m Scrap Book Photo Glue. I also got all of the gunmetal painted on the flares, front bumper, rear bumper, and grille. Super pleased with how this has turned out so far. It’s going to look so good with all the panel lines detailed and the rest of the black finished up.

The 2k clear on the Raptor has cured for about 2 days now. I couldn’t wait to try out some new sanding pads on it. Started out at 3200 grit and worked my way up to 12000 grit. Then I polished it out using Meguiar’s Scratch X and finished it off with Adam’s Polishes Paint Finishing Polish. It is now as smooth as silk.

Thank you very much! Thank you! I am super pleased with the way it turned out. Thanks Dann!! Just the way I’d want a 1:1 if I could have one. Thank you!!

I managed to lay some Splash Paints 2k clear down this afternoon. Super satisfied with the outcome of this job. Only a few specs of dust got in there. So not much polishing will be needed. The color really pops now With the clear on it. It looks so great! I can’t wait to detail it out with the Gunmetal on the flares and bumpers and maybe black the hood out.

Thanks Dann!

I got a good bit of work done today on the Raptor. I finished the interior, got the wheels hacked and fitted then detailed out. I also finished up the chassis, I didn’t know too much to do since everything is molded in. So I just painted the trans and exhaust, front splash guard, and did some light weathering on the rest of it. Lastly I managed to get the kit decals on in preparation for clear coat. The old soap and water trick worked just fine. The tail gate decals suck, so I will not be using them. I’ll have to try to detail them out.

I got all of the stuff that is black sprayed this afternoon. This was a lot of paint used, lol. It wasn’t too bad to tape the seats and door panels up, and was a great touch to the interior. Hopefully, tomorrow I can get the chassis and interior detailed. I’m going to try my hand at using the kit “decals” and a soap and water method of putting them on the body. Then, let them dry for a couple of days and clear it.

Thanks Mike. Yes, these are some bad suckers when done right. Proves that the hellcat isn’t as big and bad as everyone makes them out to be. I know they’re bad...but it got walked by a 6 cylinder lol.

I managed to get the color coat laid down tonight after cleaning the aftermath of the storm that rolled through last night. The color looks much brighter in person. I tried numerous attempts at different lighting and angles to try to capture it but it wasn’t having it, lol. I can’t decide if I want to clear it then spray all of the gunmetal for the fender flares separate, or spray the flares then clear it. The seats are going to have blue accents and be black mainly, included are some pics for reference.

Little update on the Raptor. Since we had rain from lunchtime through the rest of the day today I got a good bit of work done for prepping for paint. I scribed all of the panel lines on the rear bumper and mirrors as they were non existent like the ones on the body. I also got all of the parts cleaned and primed to be ready painted hopefully tomorrow if I get the chance. The rims had to be trimmed pretty heavily due to the ID of the Scenes Unlimited BFGs. I only did one to make sure it would work before sending them to the bleach bath for dechroming. I had to put one on the truck to see how it would look with the 34s. The mirror on the right is un-scribed and the one on the left is completed to show the difference in the panel lines.

Thanks! Took a lot of patience and time on the fender flares. I had to lay some tape down to Keep the shape of them. They really make a difference and will make taping for the gunmetal color easier. Thank you! I passed the kit a lot too and never picked one up. I started looking on the forums and people’s builds. They do seem to build up nicely.

Super clean build. Would definitely pass as the real deal with outdoor pics!
