I think today was a good days work. I got all of the parts sprayed in Dark Gray Primer that needed to be sprayed semi gloss black. Then, all semi gloss black parts were sprayed, and work on the chassis began. I taped the chassis up and sprayed the Splash Paints Katsura Orange, and then started the detailing process. I got the driveshafts, heat shields, and downpipe painted. This is just the beginning of the detailing. I still have to heat stain the downpipe. I also have to pick up some gray panel lines accent for all of the undertray panel lines. I did put a quick wash on the underbody to breakup the orange and add some depth. This is coming together pretty quickly, I wish my Hobby Design Wheels were already here, lol.

No sir. They come prethinned and ready to spray. No problems whatsoever. I got the chassis sprayed tonight. I’m very pleased with this color. The body is gonna really pop with clear on it.

Well, all my hard work on body prep paid off. I got my primer laid down this morning on all the body parts. I am pleased to say there is no work that needs to be done. No more sanding or anything will need to be done. Just maybe a quick wet sand before color. Now on to getting all the chassis/suspension and interior parts off of the Spru and cleaned up for a coat of dark gray primer.

Thanks guys!

This is going to be an awesome build. Love the work you have done on the engine bay and interior. Lots of good skill there. Can’t wait to see what else you’re going to do.

Finally after a 2 year break from this one, I have finished it. It’s an AMT 55 Cameo. This had to be one of the most ill fitting kits I have ever worked on. Lots of work went into make it fit together halfway decent, and that’s what made me put it in the shelf for so long. The paint is Tamiya Mica Silver base coat with Tamiya Clear Orange. Wheels are Steve Zimmerman “Daggers”. Chrome is a mix of Some parts sprayed with Alclad and some with SpazStix. All of the molding and door handles where shaved, cowl and gas filler were filled. The interior is painted with Duplicolor Interior carpet dye, light sand color. The seats are from an SSR. The engine is an LS engine from the SSR kit as well. This didn’t turn out as well As I had planned but it is very good looking, and I am glad to have it completed. Thanks For looking

I didn’t get anything done yesterday, but I got a small amount done tonight. I got the mold marks sanded out of the spoiler and the spoiler put together. I then washed everything to get the mold release agent off of it in preparation for primer tomorrow since I have the day off of work.

Looking great Dann! The detail is awesome.

Thanks Luke. It's all about the prep work!

Thank you Rich. I am unsure of no primer underneath. The last project I used already had a basecoat of Zero Paints Pearl Yellow, and I laid down some Splash Paints Black over it. I will be using primer on this build though, as I always do now a day.

Thanks Dann!

Nice, Thanks David! I’ve never came across a Tamiya kit with female hubs before but this R35 kit does have them. The ID of the kit wheel is 3.85mm and the OD is 6mm They are 2 piece too. I've made Aoshima wheels, and Hobby Design wheels work on several Tamiya kits. I really think they should make them a little more universal myself. I usually take my dremel and grind off the female section of the Aoshima wheel. Then, I take a piece of correct diameter & length styrene rod, and epoxy it on. This way, I can keep the kit wheels to possibly use on another project if I want to swap some wheels around. Come to think of it, I have a perfect wheel setup for a 90s Toyota pickup lowrider, lol. I have built a MK4 Supra and put CCW Classics on it, but kept the stock Supra wheels....these would look killer on the Toyota Pickup.

Everything done tonight doesn’t look like much, but was really time consuming. All panel lines are scribed and the front bumper is glued on. You can see what a difference scribing the hood vents made. The one on the passenger side is scribed and the driver side is not. These would have vanished when clear coat was laid down more than likely. This is all I had time for today, but I hope I can get some stuff primed tomorrow.

Awesome. The kit wheels are 23mm As well. Thank you!

Thanks Dann. These colors really stick out to me. I’m a sucker for orange lol.

That's an awesome looking turbo for sure. I'll have to give them a look. -
This is the truth if there ever was, lol. I had the same mishap on my Evo 6 TME project. First time using Zero Paints, and it was horrible. Great looking build so far, the more I see these, the more I want to build one as well. Keep up the great work!
