Anybody do decals for this one?

I'm 95% done. I need to put decals on, paint under the hood and finish the engine off. I added a front spoiler, touched up the paint and detailed the A/C.

It needs a donor. The JoHan Cutlass chassis has a molded in engine and drivetrain so if you don't want to open the hood it is fine. If you want a realistic chassis, a 68-72 Cutlass will work or a Revell 66 GTO if shortened. Both have excellent detail appropriate for those cars. There are few Buick engines, though. I used one from the Monogram SSX, which is 1/24 scale but accurate for a Buick car.

Just got the body the other day so I am just getting started on the interior. I actually have one set of door panels done and working on another.

I am actually going to be doing some interiors for some of his cars. I have the 69 Buick Skylark wagon and I just got the 74 LeMans Sport. I am working on the interior for that one as well.

Tim, I have done the interior for this already. No need to use the Cutlass.

I bought one and will be doing the interior for it to cast in resin. Now I'm waiting for the car to come up again....

They had swivel bucket seats. A better more realistic seat is in the Revell 1977 Monte Carlo snap kit. The seats are an accurate scale of the swivels if you can find them.

The seats are not correct for the H/O, are they?

What are you going to do for seats?

Grilles are different but rear bumper is the same. I have a 74 front end. If you want I can make a resin copy to spare you some time.

Getting closer. Did some detail painting with Molotow and got the wheel/tire/stance situation settled a bit. I decided to go with painted bumpers on a suggestion from Rusty, one of our members. I tried thinning Molotow with alcohol and spraying it but it just came out silver. Then I sprayed full strength and it looked like it should but then when I cleared it it turned silver again so I gave up. I still need to finish the interior, add a windshield, paint under the hood and touch up the chassis. Here it is next to my other Collonade Grand Am project.

Got some more detail work done on the body. I'm finishing up the exhaust and the rest of the chassis and then on to windows.

Given that this was an "update" sort of build I had a can of Testor's Fire Orange metallic paint so I decided to use that. It is a darker burnt orange sort of shade but I think with decals and everything else it will look cool.

Pierre: I have used fiberglass window screen painted white with white pinstriping tape on the edges as well as gauze bandages with striping tape for window nets.

I did a similar thing with my Team Associates Grand Am. That car had a fairly stock chassis so I used that as a starting point.

The AMT T Birds from the Bill Elliot era have a chassis that is pretty accurate for this era. It may need shortened but they have good detail and work great in these older builds.

Slow progress. Shortened the chassis and added some filler pieces. Also worked on the floor pans and rear wheel wheels. I ordered some plus size honeycomb wheels which are pretty cool. Beautiful resin castings. I'm not always a fan of the big wheel look but they do fill the fenderwells nicely. Interior is pretty much done. I added seat belts and flocked the floor. Made the sport steering wheel from scratch. Still needs a shifter. I put the core support and radiator in and am finishing the A/C system. Next I need to paint the body and figure out the windows.

Harry, I will take a look at the video. I have parts and decals to do the Grey Ghost and the Firebird. Your emails and photos have been invaluable, as well as the Petersen archives. My goal is to complete the three Team cars. One down, two to go!
