  1. Man! That's nice!! Super- detailed and slick!
  2. I'm in awe. This is so sharp. The color is awesome. And I love the cleared- over stripes. If I were restoring an old car, that's how I'd do it. Some things just look better than factory. I used to help a guy restore old vehicles, and we always painted the engine bays gloss black. They looked soo much better than the factory flat black. And the gloss held up better too. Tell me, did you get the cragars separate? Or did they come w the kit? If so, where? I've eyed this kit at hobby lobby before, and after looking at your pics I may have to take the plunge in the near future.
  3. Wow! That's one slick ride!! And the engenine bay is quite nice!! You got a lotta patience to rebuild that thing 3,4 times! I believe if I were you I'd keep it, glue a case around it an glue it to the shelf!!! Or pack it away in bubble wrap!
  4. Awesome!! Love me some rust buckets!!!
  5. Awesome. Love this car. Nice job.
  6. Awesome! I got the calsonic skyline on the bench right now. Actually it's soaking in degreaser because I foolishly took a chance on enamel paint. ??
  7. That's a great lookin model. Great skill on display here. However, if I was a drag racer, this car don't look safe and stable enough to tear down the track in. I guess it takes a little crazy. Then again all drag cars are guided missiles anyway.
  8. Yes- for me it was one of those JFK, Bear Bryant and 9-11 type moments. I remember exactly where I was on the road when I heard it on the radio. And this was after worrying about him all night of course.
  9. That would be so awesome, but I'd hate for you to part with it.
  10. Yes- I've often wondered how many championships he'd have won, as well as races. I don't think Robert Yates racing would've went off the skids like it did either. I'd like to build the white T-Bird in the future to go along with it. I looked, and they se to be plentiful online. Thanks for your comment.
  11. Thanks. Pulled out of the barn to be exact. Old farmer Dixon's old truck was forgotten until the great grandkids decided to chain it to the tractor and pull it out. Maybe they'll restore it to its former glory, and maybe even rod it up a little. I heard one of them was a pretty good mechanic.
  12. Awesome. Love the wheels and the color.
  13. Here are some pics of good ole Davey's ride. By far my favorite driver. Still miss him today. To me the late 70s-90s were the best eras in NASCAR. I used to never miss a race, now I never even watch a race. I built this car as a tribute to Davey and did as good a job as I feel I was capable of at the time. I also posted this in the "under glass" forum with a little more info on the build if anyone's interested. RIP Davey. 7-13-93
  14. Heres some pics of a car I built about 15 years ago. It's deeply personal for me, as Davey was my absolute favorite driver, and racing hasn't meant nearly as much to me since his passing. It's actually the 2nd one I built, the first one I built as a teenager, but I always thought I could do better. I ended up dismantling the first one for parts, some of which I used on this one. I built the window net with a kit I bought, I think from detail master. Built the seat harnesses and used a photo etch set for buckles and window clips.
  15. Last post pics were horrible. I ain't goin out like that. These are better.
  16. Took some more pics on the back porch in good daylight. Will repost soon.
  17. Nice lookin model- really dig the engine bay!!
  18. Yes. i may experiment in the daylight. I was having trouble w my file size as well. How do you take a good pic under 2 MB?
  19. Ok, just posted my first photos- but had trouble getting under the 2MB file size. Is that why folks use the solid white backgrounds? Does only having the vehicle in the shot cut down on the file size?
  20. Here's some pics of my recent build I finished yesterday. Its the first model I've built in about 15 yrs and also the first attempt at weathering anything. I've researched photos on this forum, watched numerous YouTube videos, and heres the result. I've seen better, but I was quite thrilled with the results.
  21. Love em all!! Man I loved NASCAR during this era!!
