The red one is Revlon nail polish the blue one model master blue pearl. I need to work on thinning them better for brushing they were still a little thick but in the long run the nail polish, if I can get the right thinning ratio, seems to be the way to go. Tons of colors and dries hard in no time. I plan on playing with ratios and painting some sprue until I get it down. They are too small and fragile to rub out so the finish will have to stand alone.

Yup it was the favorite of all the cars I owned. Spun a bearing coming out of work racing a Z at the stop light one day and then a few weeks later picked up a fully rebuilt 455SD bored out with higher compression pistons semi race cam edelbrock manifold holly 780 double pumper headers etc. just sitting in the machine shop all paid for (the payer had gone to jail) added a 4:11 posi 12 bolt rear end had all the decals stripped off and the car repainted with black Imron that looked a mile deep had the turbo 400 rebuilt with a shift kit when I had the new engine installed And I ended up selling it to my oldest brother whose wife slowly battered it to pieces

Used to have one of these with a 455 SD engine does anyone make a kit? Would like to build a model version some day

Have the second frame cleaned up a little, the engine cut out, and flat black applied. I am still undecided I may stay with the flat black, gloss coat it, or selective gloss coat parts like the tank. The two unpainted parts are where the transmission and battery box go. Also started on painting the front wheel still a little touch up to go. The spokes are slightly off but i can live with it. Ned to do some sanding on the front yoke and for some reason the rim looks darker in the photo than it does on my desk must be a shadow thing but i will check it when I touch up the hub. The photos help as they show far more detail than I can see easily. I included a ruler for scale

That explains it thanks

I thought nail polish was enamel and enamels take forever to dry yet nail polish dried fairly quick. Do they add a drier to the paint? I see lots of instructions for thinning it to spray it but nothing on brushing it has anyone ever tried that?

The Miniart kits I have been doing lately from the Ukraine it seems I touch the locating pin with testors liquid cement and it melts it seems a lot softer than what I was used to. Do you notice some plastics seem to be softer nowadays?

I think 1 7/8” is stock so I am a scale 1/4” over which is about 1/100” to large instead of .0625 I need .0525 but it is more perception than reality. Most flocked carpets look good but are really to scale shag carpet so it isn’t exact scale sometimes but what the eye perceives if as -
That is a work of art every part of it is just fantastic

I am still using this one as a test bed for trying things out for size. Ignore the lack of mounting brackets and the just glued to the cylinder end and let me know what you think of the 1/16 aluminum tube for exhausts please. Diameter too big or does it look like a good size for custom straight pipes? Technically it is a shade over 2 1/8 scale inches -
I am putting my painted items in a plastic box to keep dust out but was wondering if it keeps the air out would that delay drying?

Total novice here but are the pick ups out in front? Why there? Not that it’s wrong just wondering

"Robot vs. human? I saw Jay Leno beat an autonomous Audi at Willow Springs. That probably won't last long." Shades of John Henry. At least Leno didn't die winning -

We are talking about spectator sports and it is hard for the average person to feel an emotional investment in a machine someone else built. We empathize with humans not machines the media panders to human nature it doesn’t create it. Personally I rarely if ever watch anything on tv except some DVDs of old shows I like. But if it bleeds it leads would go away the second the ratings did watching an auto race is living vicariously sorry but it is human nature. Our brains are wired to release various hormones like dopamine in response to stimulus and danger is a huge stimulus. The release of those hormones triggers a euphoric rush but without the element of risk the rush isn’t as big. Stress will also do it, like watching your favorite batter against a good pitcher, but the greater the stress, or risk, the greater the release. It goes back to the flight or fight concept and has valid biological underpinnings The question was is is this the future of Motorsports I was simply trying to answer that without the human element for spectators to emphasize with, and absent any risk of danger to a person they can empathize with, the average spectator will not show up. Absent fans you have no sponsor moneybecause thereisnt any reason to sponsor the team if no one is watching. Until you solve those issues it will be at best a fringe sport -

So why do people tend to slow down to look at crashes on the side of the road? Come on guys. I’m not saying anyone is hoping for a crash or injury but do you think people would line up to watch a robot cross a high wire stretched between two buildings? No one is hoping for the wire walker to fall but they want to live vicariously as part of the risk. No one wants to see a crash or injury in car racing, ski jumping, or high wire walking, but they want the vicarious thrill of watching others perform on the edge of risk and usually the higher the risk the more popular the sport. I probably didn’t term it correctly no one wants an injury but they want to live the risk. The want the thrill of watching people perform on the edge. They want the emotional investment and I don’t think that exists with a machine they don’t want to see someone hurt they want to see people push the edge where they risk it and not get hurt btw next time you watch race highlights on regular news tell me what they cover, the perfectly executed lap, the brilliant strategy, the fine tuning of the car, the fantastic pit work shaving milliseconds off, or the crashes -

Yes that’s a testors glue bottle. I learned a lot from this one and #2 and #3 are in progress -

Probably should have been clearer I meant in various stages of progress not that you actually had them “on the bench” at the same time -

Half the appeal of watching car racing is the danger to the driver in a crash. We may not like to think it but that is the voyeur aspect to it the risk to life and limb But who cares if this thing crashes ? -
I need to bend some aluminum tube, 1/8" diameter with about 90 degree bends with a tight radius. What's the best way to do so without kinking? I don't mind if the bent end is solid is there soemthing bendable I can fill it with, like solder? Would that help?

Do you do one model at a time or have multiples going at the same time? -
Sorry I didn’t mean the wheel comment to come across as a criticism just an opinion. The build is fantastic both conceptually and artistically as well as the technical execution
