Hey Bernard This is lookin very KOOOOL Sorta AIRFLOW-ISH from the rear. Don't see old four-doors built here very often. Gonna be fun to watch. Love those quicky builds ( You thought I was gonna say love quickies - but I fooled ya )

Once in a great while for me, a build comes along that just "Flips All My Switches". I have no idea why this has turned out to be such fun. Maybe everything seems to be just right and going so good. My reaction to this has really surprised me, but I will definately continue to enjoy it.

Well guy's, for me, it just doesn't get any better than this <img src="http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> . I'll say it again, I LOVE this Ol' body style. This color and paint came out way better than I figured it would, and I'm extatic - sorry, just me lovin' this hobby <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> . The wheels and stance look good to me. I painted it yesterday, and today it's all polished and waxed in less than 12 hours. Now I get to add the chrome and do a "scratched" leather interior with four buckets - FUN <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> .

Painting a custom die cast can be challanging, especially when you paint it totally assembled, as I do most everything now. There is just usually more things you need to paint and if you miss one ...well - you got trouble <img src="http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> . With all the opening features, you need to spray all the jams first and then let them dry long enough that when you close them to paint the whole car, parts don't stay stuck <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="angry.gif" /> . The color is DupliColor Cherry red Pearl Metallic. I was surprised - it came out flawless and even looks nice on the car - even bare <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> . It'll sit a little lower, as this isn't a "DONK MACHINE" this time <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> .

Hi Scott Good topic I'm including a pic of one of the first and most famous of the "PRO-TOURING CIRCUIT" This is a die cast of the car by JOHNNY LIGHTENING. It was called PANDEMONIUM and was a '69 Camaro RS The engine was nearly 600 inches and nearly 700 horsepower and a six speed trans. A buddy of mine has owned this car since nearly new, and when he drove down my street people came out of their houses to see what they heard. Serious horsepower makes serious noise. It's a completely Rotisseried and restored car. It was mini-tubbed, lowered, and given the best engine, suspension and brakes money can buy. The charcoal all leather interior with Reccaro buckets and plush mercedes carpet and special headliner and sound system, has every convienance. Every inch of the car was finished to perfection, top, bottom, inside and out, for ultimate driving pleasure and power, straight line or cornering, this car handles. Even the electronic ignition allows the driver to start the car from anywhere outside the car. -
I like this one - very cool builds .

You got it . Low and slinky with a Scudera kinda look - a Ferrari truck - we'll see . Might be kind KOOOOL with a Testarossa (Red Head) under the hood, and some independants front and rear. How about some "Prancing Horse Badging" and a red vehicle that "REALLY HAULS" . I can just hear the "PURISTS" screaming now........................NNNOOOOOOOOO !!! - LOL

LOVE THE FACT THAT YOU KEPT THE STOCK BUMPERS AND TRIM . The car is so identifiable and yet still "OUTRAGEOUSLY DIFFERENT AND COOOOOL" . Fender skirts just help the whole build come together and "POP". GREAT EXECUTION OF ART, STYLE, AND SUPERB DESIGNING AND CRAFTSMANSHIP. Hope you paint it a "BRIGHT COLOR" TO GET EVERYONE'S ATTENTION AT THE SHOW'S YOU TAKE IT TOO, for the "GOTCHA FACTOR".

I agree also. I have several Dremel "Sanding drum sizes", and it's great to have options to see what works best. I've "Re-sized tires several times sucessfully and this technique works great. Just slow goes it, as mentioned, as over-grinding can happen quickly.

This is insanely COOOOL As most here know, I love the retro/crossover-look, and this is so "THERE" . Nothing like a healthy dose of "ARTZY" imagination and creativity to get the "Juices Flowin" . This takes the boredom out of "Cookie Cutter" builds, and give's all of us, me too, a FRESH perspective and some new directions on future projects. Thanks for being a "RISK TAKER" - YA PULLED IT OFF VERY NICELY - dave

Boy, can I relate to that - LOL. -
Hi Clay The Lightning is a 'Vert now, and will get the top of the windshield frame chopped off along with the glass. The bed will get the Chevy SSR treatment using the cover. The rear wheel wells will get "Tubbed" for some "massive meats", and the interior will get the "Full Monty" - LOL This is a "Down the Road" project, so nothing coming anytime soon -

Yeah, TWO CHASSIS . Over 800 pieces per chassis, nearly 1700 pieces for the two. I scratch-built them side by side. Just trying to collect all the part's was insane. I wanted to challange myself, and do something at a level I hadn't seen before - I WAS NUTS . -

My all time favorite car was my first one. It was a 1950 Merc I got in 1960 while in high school. I graduated still working on it, but 6 month's later it was done with a 1953 Chrysler Hemi in it, with dual quads, and other "Goodies", and the body mildly customized. This is a model of it I built last year for "sentimentals" . This is my other fav of all time. I spent over three years doing a ground up on this '57 Pontiac Safari Wagon, back in the early 70's. -

For me this was my most "CHALLANGING EVER". It's a 1941 HOLLYWOOD GRAHAM STREET ROD - SCRATCH-BUILT. 2000parts 2000 hours Over 2 years to complete Finished at the end of 2003 Building something like this changes you forever. Everything I have done since then has been simple in comparison. I didn't know anything could be so difficult, or require so much personal growth and change. -
Went back and dug out this post from last year. Got the Merc in the center done, and am working on the Chezoomed Badzilla behind it, and the Auburn rear right. Thought I did a build-up thread on the Cad on this forum, but may have been on "THE OTHER ONE" LOL.

I'm with Harry. I wouldn't attach it. I've traveled to the GSL twice and down to Calif. for the NNL West, in a 4X pickup truck, stiff riding, and never damaged anything. All the models I own travel in a case like yours. For traveling, I turn the case over, fill it with padded cushion material of your choice. I use a stack of soft Kleenex on the bottom, put the model in, and cushion it on all four sides with more Kleenex. Just one more option - dave -
