Thanks guys. Kenny, thank you. Since I don't enter contests or shows sometimes I go for visually interesting rather than factory correct.

Started this awhile back. Figured I'd share it here. Needs a few touch ups but coming along. The white interior was a little tougher than it expected. I'd like to do something different with the black inserts in the seats to bring out the woven pattern. Any suggestions? The body will be dark green with white stripes. (Tossing around a deep maroon also).

How to be competitive at contests.

None of my builds are competition level. I will say though that your tips are great for just building a better model period. Thanks for a great post. Mike. -

which is a good pearl acrylic?

createx pearls shoot pretty nice. -
Could you adapt a degree wheel like we use in 1:1 engine building? You could mount your piece in the center on something to stand it off a bit. Mark a zero point on the table and make your 36 degree rotation. A lot less than a mill in the meantime.

Life after the purple pond question

This works on that primer. You can wipe it off with a cloth with alcohol on it. I found out the hard way prepping for a color coat. -

Off topic but I haven't seen anything on the Four Horsemen lately. Not necessarily my thing but I found them quite interesting. Thanks, Mike.

I haven't tried it on any large spots. It just worked well for these small touch up's. If anyone tries it on a larger area please post your results. Thanks, Mike.

Your pin idea is probably best. Less chance of getting glue on your paint. It will give you the look you want also.

Little problem with transparent parts
b-body fan replied to 花火's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would try some future along the edge. It may make it less white looking and more clear. If it doesn't work you will not have lost anything. trying a color will still be possible. Hope this helps. -
Any idea how to remove a decal?
b-body fan replied to 花火's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You'll spend less time looking for another set. Almost impossible to impossible especially if they have been cleared over. -
I didn't either. I just figured it was worth a try. You gotta REALLY shake it up. That was only 1 very light coat of the alclad by the way.

I thought this came out pretty good and wanted to share it. I'm sure it's been done but I thought it was worth mentioning. This is the valve cover from a 1/12 Camaro. the sprues were attached at 2 points along this side at the bottom. It was cast in orange. Sorry I didn't take before pics. Anyway.. I touched the spots with gloss black, left them dry, and then brush touched them with alclad ll chrome. Here's the results.

IFTA is the international fuel tax agreement. that did away with the plate with all the state stickers.I'm not sure what year though. If you're building a later model 1 sticker from the home state will suffice.

Airbrush / Compressor
b-body fan replied to B-Ram's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been using the Harbour Freight compressor for 15 years with no problems. I did get a better regulator for it though. It's fairly inexpensive. Airbrushes you can spend as little or as much as you want however. Paasche makes some decent stuff as does Badger that are affordable and work well.
