Got some color on. Dark charcoal metallic base coat. I've used this color before. Looks really nice after clear coat. I'm going to have to mock this up a lot since many parts have to be modified or made. -
Don't know what to say......

I know exactly what to say!!! I can't say it on here but you may have heard me. -
I had one that was a copper color. Tan is a great sleeper color though. My grandmother had a tan Scamp.

Posting these for bismarck. If anyone else needs help posting photos, p.m. me. I will give you my email address. -
I agree with Dave, It's all about licensing and marketing to appeal to a larger audience. I recently sold a Kiss(the rock band) van from the late 70's for fairly substantial money. The buyer was not a modeler. He collected Kiss memorabilia. The tooling was just a Chevy van with a few extra parts and some decals. It is intelligent marketing.

Polishing Testors acrylic clear???
b-body fan replied to crowe-t's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I've actually brushed on a wet coat of Future and sealed it in a plastic container about the size of a shoebox over night. It retards the drying time and lets it flatten out nicely. It also keeps the dust off. The next day I sort of cock the lid sideways to air it out but still protect it from dust. I've gotten good results this way. I've never tried to polish it though. This would probably work for any acrylic, brushed or sprayed I would imagine. Hope this helps. -

Is the key for the gloss black to show through somewhat? -

Yes, Alclad gloss black primer. -
The title says it. I followed their instructions to the letter. I used their primer. The first light coat looks very chrome-like . It's a mist coat and does not cover completely. The second coat either looks great, looks like black chrome, or looks like silver paint . If anyone has any insight on this please let me know. I'm aware there are threads about alclad on here. I would just like some fresh opinions. Thanks, Mike.

Kit Bashing - The Art of Rivet Counting
b-body fan replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is pretty darn cool they're going to produce your model!!!! Don't feel bad, I've noticed it doesn't take much to stir the pot on here sometimes. Often after a few posts the original topic is pretty well lost and the rants begin. People forget we all do this for different reasons. They also forget we don't all have to be like minded to be right. Some time ago I started a thread on a model rail road forum called "rivet counting or just having fun ". The same thing happened. I was just curious as to why and how fellow modelers enjoyed the hobby. A battle ensued. Live and learn I guess. -

Sorry to pipe up again. I did agree as I somewhat stated before, the kit companies should be accountable for at least a reasonable amount of accuracy. I personally would be happy if they would mold their parts to be more useable as cast at times. In particular I'm referring to the chrome trees. I believe it would be quite possible to attach sprues at points that would not be visable on a finished model.(I.e. the back of wheels, bumpers, etc.) It would certainly help modelers who don't have all the means to re-chrome parts. A little care in design would produce a far better product and encourage more entry level modelers to continue in the hobby. -

I can see both sides of this. I am quite meticulous in certain aspects of my life. For me personally model building is not really one of them. I can understand wanting proportions correct. I also think kits should be a fairly accurate depiction of the real thing. That being said, I'm pretty content building out of the box for the most part. I spend very little time on research. I usually just check photos for color choices and general interior and underhood configurations. I'm generally happy with my builds, warts and all. As for criticism, kit reviews probably need some from time to time. As for other modelers work, only if it's invited. Still, keep it constructive, not insulting. We post on here to share with each other. There is no obligation to comment on every post. We all enjoy this hobby for different reasons. I can respect them all. There is no reason to dishearten another modeler by tearing apart something they are proud of. -

So.... I've decided that go a whole different route than usual for me on this one. I typically spend a lot of time on interiors are under hood details. My paint jobs and usually single colors. Not this time!! Should be fun!! All comments welcome. Thanks, Mike. -
Don't be afraid. Just having some fun. I'm really enjoying this build. This is going to be one awesome model. Can't wait to see more.
