this is only kit ive actually finished this year...vw is old Brookfield kit...had very simple engine so I added engine from gran tourismo kit...scratchbuilt trailer n p/u bed...cycle is toy modified a bit. I'm especially proud of this one as I designed this in my head in august 2014 while in hospital recovering from a stroke and built this with one hand...was great therapy for left hand/arm which was affected by stroke...biggest problem was that I'm lefthanded so it was slooow going. still cant pour a cup of coffee with lh but can hold dremel and sanding sticks n will continue to build tho I'm probably done using photo etched parts. anyway I know this is not most peoples cup of tea but it was a blast to build. if I can run across a real vw at a reasonable price I may build this in 1 : 1. imo it wud b fun to drive... am a welder by trade as well as having engineering background so I think I cud handle it with my son doing the heavy lifting.

thanks a lot...u have explained and corrected my memory...I do remember that it was molded in yellow. I think with the 69 kit, a flip out stang and my aftermarket decals I can cobble up something that will b close enuf for me.

need any info bout this kit! what year is it? did it have a gasser straight axle front end? wasn't it basically a stock kit with blanked out nose and racing parts added? this is very first kit I built around 1970...just going on memory I thot it was a 69. I have found sources that state it was a 67? I have the decals and a 69 mach 1 kit that has what appears to be front front straight axle set up on tree but not mentioned in instructions. any info appreciated!!!

more pics of twin engine dragster n an old duece
jeffdeoranut replied to jeffdeoranut's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
sorry bout duplicate pics...don't know how to fix...anyway dragster was my unpaid part time job for 3 yrs...hardest part was getting front wheels to rotate and turn...not much room inside those skinny tires...fuel lines, throttle linkage r out of scale somewhat...injector scoops were hiding inside an old vcr...front axle from deora kit. wud like to say that it is an absolute pleasure to post on this forum(unlike some others). I really do appreciate the comments and any suggestions/criticisms r welcome. also b warned I will unashamedly steal any idea, method or design to use in future builds...already I have found much value in the tips section. and to the guy who posted pics of a boss 429 mid-engine mustang...thanks a lot, I need another project like I need another electric bill...lol -

-stang...my most cherished model...took 13 yrs to find 3 built kits n one usable body...I plan to build this one also as the red, flip front, twin-turbo car, but my brain is overloaded with projects. -modified...I was on a ''use real metal kick" so body is from aluminum flashing...donor it was pinto modified...obvious flaws include: roll cage is crooked! y I left the 2 bars ar rear unpainted I have no idea... I shudda dirtied it up much more...silver tape struipes were supposed to b parallel...realy funny goof on this one is that on right side I put number on EXACTLY as on left side so on right side it is number 01. one more comment...my daughters name is niki n I have built numerous race cars sponsored by her ficticious garage...other sponsors r businesses near my hometown...pop 1482...lol
