  1. Body painted, decals in place, now it needs some weathering...
  2. One thing I didn't like was the sunroof. The strange bracing cut out and the canvas roof itself painted black. Much better! Detailed the skateboard on the bed. Silver on the tailpipes Oil cooler hoses painted black And this is how it turned out Small modifications that made the result so much better in the end.
  3. It was the name used in europe for the Rabbit Pickup. The box says "VW Caddy" so probably it is modelled after an euro version.
  4. Was just going to the grocery store to get some mayonnaise but appearantly I ended up with a HW VW Caddy. Nice car, gorgeous paint, but some details are disturbing, the striping is one of them. Some windshield washer fluid on a Q-tip and suddenly it looks better.
  5. Very fun model to build. Porsche wheels, steering wheel, seats and mirrors. Swedish license plates from Italeri truck kit. Other than that, straight from the box. Paint Peugeot "Nevada beige" from the late 70s.
  6. I've had plans for how I want to build a Mk1 Golf/Rabbit for a long time now. When I suddenly got myself a Mk2, and didn't have any ideas for how to build it, I decided to use my vision on a Mk2 instead. The casting of the body was fantastic so I could prime it immediately. The floorpan will be painted body color too, so I primed it at the same time. Going for this shade, Peugeot Nevada beige. It will get a lot of Porsche details, like the steering wheel.
  7. As a previous owner of an 1:1 Jeep truck, I can say that it's lookin' autentic and I really can appreciate the work that has gone into it.
  8. To me, this doesn't matter at all, GM is cranking out loads of new Camaros everyday and all that's needed to replace a "wasted" one is money. Maybe not my taste but then I'm not the one that will be driving it. To me, it is more of a waste to take some vintage tin that has survived well into our ages and make it look like junk on purpouse. (Cars with real patina is nothing that I have anything against though.)
  9. Even if it is a fun idea, I will not convert it to 4wd.
  10. Since the rear axle and leaf springs supplied in the kit are far from good looking, I decided to replace them with parts from the AMT Chevy S10. The axle has the right width and the springs have the correct length. It's hard not to go overboard with weathering the parts, since this is no offroad jeep that has been in a mud hole, but I think this might be good.
  11. Did some weathering of the tires by giving them a wash in tan....still much work left to do, of course. I found an air cleaner in the parts bin that did fit very well, since the model didn't have one. Also, I did some weathering of the engine, be honest, is it looking any convincing at all? I will paint the fan black, it is too plasticky looking in chrome....
  12. A bit more work on the engine, at least there is dual quads and headers included, aluminium heads are a quick fix with the brush and maybe it is strong enough to pull the tyres through the sand now, at least if we expect the engine to be something better than a 1979 305"...
  13. Finished the wheels One first coat on the engine block....molded in black equals SOOOO much fun....not!
  14. Maybe it is quite obvious which direction this one is taking?
  15. Old stalled build I decided to finish. Far from perfect but built is better than stalled...
  16. Quick and dirty build, and yes, I know that I can do better than this!
  17. The bumper, almost done. Cockpit, done.
  18. LOL, you have a good point there!
  19. The idea was to run a stock steering wheel painted red, but the wheel in the kit is a really bad casting, however, I found a Hasegawa wheel (IIRC) when I was looking for a steering wheel to the Chevy, so, problem solved!
  20. Not my best build, not the best kit, but at least I managed to finish in time for the buildoff I participated in.
  21. Front wheels detailed and mounted, front end lowered as much as possible, going to run stock height in the rear, I believe there will be the right amount of rake then. Interior finished and installed. Bed cover painted to match the interior.
  22. This is lookin' clean and promising, Gaute!
  23. Paint on the body. Turned out really cool with the color-changing effect, but hard to catch in a picture. Flocking on the floor, detailed dash and door panels, and since the stock steering wheel is hideous, it got replaced with a S10 wheel.
  24. Body in primer A quick spray with black on the chassis, good enough.... The interior will be light grey, I think that it will look neutral and nice against the flipflop paint. Glued the engine together, will build it quite simple and fast since it's really no interesting engine....
