  1. AMT Studebaker Avanti, the current release IIRC.
  2. For a challenge on a Swedish forum to build a model between christmas eve and new years eve. Starting with this Fresh from the box. Going to use slots on this one. Cowl induction scoop glued in place Going to try this colour-changing paint on this one.... not a disaster if it goes wrong on this model.
  3. Yes, I'm waiting for a fintail Mercedes ambulance to arrive.
  4. Done!
  5. Except for the tailgate (which is in the brake fluid bath now), the paintjob turned out OK. Grey tyres is somewhat dorky looking, so I gave them some flat black, the same goes for the rims, since they aren't very realistic looking, they got some black to tone them down. Polished the windows with toothpaste, got a bit clearer, not like new but then the car is old too...
  6. Brake fluid took most of the paint off. I didn't like the peppermint green interior so I decided on burgundy instead. Primer on the body.
  7. I've been looking at a lot of restored/modified Matchbox / HW cars lately. And since many of them are quite cool looking in all its smallness, I decided to try something similar myself. It felt most natural to start with a cheap one to see if it would be as fun as I thought. So, I got this very much played, but complete, example of a Vauxhall Victor estate. Old car from the 60s, but it seems like it is not so rare, so I won't be ruining anything I guess. Rivets drilled, car split into pieces....
  8. I haven't built a bed yet, but I found a piece of wood that had the right dimensions so I could make a mockup for test purpouses, and I think that this can turn out quite tough looking. I started with the bumper, i cut off the horns at the top and the bottom, then I filled them with pieces of styrene from behind and filed off the horns..... Much sanding and painting left but good as a start, I think.
  9. The bare metal look is awesome!
  10. The rust and flaked paint is just stunning, so realistic, and the details are awesome, one of the better beetles I've seen built up in scale!
  11. Realistic with just the right amount of weathering, nice!
  12. Not often a 51 Chevy is built up as a stocker and this is a really nicely built one too, the pale yellow suits it well, cool build!
  13. Well, yes, it is starting to look right now!
  14. I'm not saying that the car is ugly, it's not, but IMO both design and name makes me think of some videogame car from i.e. GTA that is supposed to be a Mustang but has to look different and carry another name due to lack of licensing from Ford....
  15. The Buick Riviera boattail. I can't understand that there's no styrene kit available of such a popular lowrider subject and design icon.
  16. Yeah, that long tail is crying for a midship engine.
  17. The rubber on the running boards got some red too. The big bumpers that is included in the kit won't fit the style I'm aiming for, so I found this Hasegawa (?) bumper, that I am planning to dechrome and paint white, bling is nothing for this car. Maybe try to remove the horns too. The dash needs another coat of paint and some detailing, but overall, I think this concept is working. Yes, there is big gaps between floor pan and body, I know! The quality overall of the kit doesn't really encourage me to fix that either. I am planning to paint a stock steering wheel bright red, but I think that I have to find a Hasegawa steering wheel then because the Revell wheel is very bad looking.
  18. Great idea!
  19. Ohh, Barbie is going to drive fast now! Nice ride.
  20. Yes, Hyundai built the Cortina and the (UK version) Granada under license, then when Cortina production ceased, they used Cortina technology under this new bodyshape in the Stellar.
  21. I like how you've managed to get the looks of bare steel on this one.
  22. That was a very different take on the Hudson kit, and I love it!
  23. Interesting, never seen the Stellar before, only the Pony and Excel kits!
  24. Crisp and clean with the right amount of detailing in the right places. Nice.
