  1. Here's the 2 pix I took. As usual, these guys are out of my league. Did enjoy the seminars.
  2. You would think the bigger TV would fall faster and the car land on top of it. But the bread always lands jelly-side down also. Lots of luck with the rebuild.
  3. "We deal in lead, Mister." "We are in the same business then." "Only as competitors."
  4. One of my favorites Kelly's Heroes. Just watched it again last Saturday. A couple more, just guess the character (easy). "A Sherman can give you a nice ... edge." "I just ride in them, I don't know what makes them work."
  5. Even at age 50, just look at all the men from history you have outlived. You can console yourself by saying: "Kids today don't know ..." and fill in the blank. These are exciting times. Just build lots of models.
  6. Here's a short one from a movie I just saw today: "Perfect!" Hint: it could be from any one of three made.
  7. Here's one from a movie I saw a couple of weeks ago. " As a comedian no one could touch him. As a human being no one wanted to touch him."
  8. Here's another great one from Carol: "Your car's uglier than I am!" Just saw the sequel the other day, More American Graffiti. It was OK, but it seemed everyone was trying too hard. Not as spontaneous as the original. That's the way it goes sometimes.
  9. Just when i think I've done everything I wanted to do with race cars, this Monogram Mercedes 300SLR shows up on ebay. It will join the Heller Blower Bentley and Monogram Chaparral in the stash.
  10. Being a fan of the car since it was built, I would buy at least two kits.
  11. You are correct sir! W.C. Fields and Allison Skipworth.
  12. Here's an old one: "Do you like children, Gus?" "I do if they're properly cooked."
  13. This is from O Brother Where Art Thou. One of my favorite movies. Another classic quote: "Well, ain't this place a geographic oddity; two weeks from everywhere !"
  14. I can't keep more than 2 straight at one time. But I agree, do what works for you. This IS a hobby after all.
  15. Scale Auto magazine had an article about the Mecom Scarab. I went on E-Bay but couldn't find one for the price I wanted. But I did find a Monogram Chaparral 2D. It cost a bit more than I am used to paying, but the 2D has always been a favorite. I have built other Monogram curbsides in the past and found them quite satisfactory for what they are. i look forward to getting started on this project once it arrives.
  16. Nice looking diorama! Good choice of cars too. I remember the '64 had a dual-quad 409 rated at 425 hp.
  17. Good looking guys! Never trust anyone that doesn't have a hairy face: male or female.
  18. Now that I'm getting older, I find myself becoming less patient at the grocery store. My sick twisted thinking is "keep the traffic moving." It seems every time, someone stops to look at something right in front of the item I am trying to get. People seem attracted to intersections to exchange life stories with their friends. Some people leave their shopping cart in the middle of the aisle to read the entire label of an item. More than once I have been trapped in an aisle this way. If everyone would just get out of my way I would be OK!! (LOL)
  19. Good looking build of one of my favorite F1 cars. Back when race cars looked like race cars. Jacky Ickx was one of my heroes.
  20. Great looking build! I also would like to see the kart as a separate kit with a streamliner body. I would have to get at least two kits.
  21. At least so far, it hasn't been below 0. But we still should have a March Surprise. Could use more snow in the mountains; that's next summer's water. But you're right. Cold weather sucks.
  22. TCM this morning, as part of their 31 Days of Oscar theme, ran five movies nominated for an Oscar in the Sci-Fi genre. They were Marooned, the Time Machine, Them, Destination Moon and Close Encounters. i didn't get up in time to see Marooned, except the last half-hour and I had to skip Close Encounters. But I had a very enjoyable six hours of watching some all time favorites (much to the wife's annoyance). I always find it interesting about space movies that even the best sci-fi writers didn't quite measure up to the real space travel. Many predicted moon landings, but nobody thought the whole world would sit at home and watch them doing it. OBTW, First Man about Neil Armstrong is an excellent movie, as is the book from which it is taken. What Science Fiction films do you like?
  23. This is the Revell kit that has sat on the shelf for a couple of years and I finally decided to have a shot at it. There are decals for the #2 car which won the Daytona 24 hours overall in 2001, the #3 car driven by the Earnhardts (and others) to 4th overall and the #63 which won its class at Le Mans that year. Now I may have to get two more of these! The chassis is great with lots of detail. A bit hard to work with after painting everything black. The main complaint I think everyone has is the one-piece body. The 1:1 car has a seven piece body. Seems a shame to hide the chassis detail unless you go to the trouble of cutting up the body. The body does fit fairly easy over the chassis, but there are still some gaps.
  24. It's not a 904 specific book, but White Racers from Zuffenhausen by Karl Ludvigsen has a nice section on 904 and how it came to be. This book also covers 906, 907, 908, 909 and 910 racers from the '60s.
