I've been wanting to build a replica of my first ride, 84 buick regal limited. had two hydraulic pumps, 4 batteries, and a set of these car also had a t-type hood and spoiler, not my doing, I bought the car like that. I plan on building down to the faded two tone grey and brown paint and brown interior. I will have to figure out what to about the bench seat though. Phil

I bought this as a partially started kit, hood scoop glue on and missing engine pieces. was gonna use a 409 but I didn't like the way it sat in there so I started going through my parts drawer and found a bagged up 66 riv engine, I do have future plans to use the 66 kit missing the body to update another 69 I have

I picked up the black droptop cover car at the MAMA meeting in april, I built one awhile back too. Its been years but if I remember right he original droptop issue had wheels that looked like the ones on the box but they were changed to more of a wire hubcap later on -
all rubbed out, ready for some foil work now bought this from betoscustoms sometime last year. rubbed out the clear and ready for assembly

to start out, all of my painting is done with duplicolor or plastikote automotive paint from the rattle can. once I paint and clear the car I wetsand the clear with 1000-2000 grit sandpaper to remove the orange peal. When you do this the finish will become dull resulting in the need for polishing. I start out with this then from there I progress to this and finish with this to remove any light marks left behind thats all I did to achieve this shine. I'm still learning myself but I like it alot better than when I was younger and would just spray the color and leave it at that. phil

some recent pics 65 nearing completion, final stance determined 69 almost done, little more waxing and under hood work 63 sprayed folkart clear friday, not wetsanded yet, have to tweek on the suspension but I want it this low when done phil

as promised, some sunlit pics to show the true colors phil

been rubbing out the rivi, still on the first coat of wax yet

So here's the deal, this started as a test body. I shot plastikote blue metalflake over flat black and topped it off with a fine green/blue flake. Still have to polish the hood but the rest of the body is done as you can see, just gotta do final assembly now. I think I'm gonna stick with this low stance. phil

Update to the rivi... Shot a green flake over the pink, and picked out a wheel tire combo from the 70 amt impala kit. I pulled a spare 409 from a 62 impala which I think will look just fine in there, car will sit slightly higher as the frame sits a little below the rockers. Was listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan while building and the name hit me, "Riviera Paradise" Phil

sorry for the delay in responding, been working crazy hours and haven't had a chance to check up on things. Well the bench/surrounding area will be getting a heavy cleaning at some point this week, at which time I plan to glue very thin sheets of plywood to the back of the walls for rigidity. If the can of primer sealer I have will give a uniform block color it will be just a cinder block wall as opposed to stucko. I may have to scribe a few lines though as some of the blocks are longer, to keep it uniform. As for the top of the walls, once I remove the pegs, they will get a good sanding and capped off with 1/4" wide bass wood strips prior to painting. Still haven't decided on a roof yet, but it may just be a flat roof with some "I" beams for support and some sky lights.

thanks for the help guys, I discovered it pays to search. A few pages in a found a topic and saw a tip about duplicor sprays and tried it, came out great. -
So here's the deal. I am not airbrush equipped yet. I have tried the circle template trick with the generic dollar buy spray paint but it never really dries. Is there any rattle can paint that will dry? I used to brush on acrylics but it couldn't get rid of the brush strokes. Any ideas out there? phil

thanx, I'll check that out

a little impala update. sprayed the interior tonight, sage green. I think it gives a nice OG look and I like how it looks against the lime green. Kinda hard to see but I sprayed a light green pearl coat. Still needs clear but I am out of bmf. I think I might use my photoetch kit on this, depends on how the body rubs out. Anyone know what kind of light I should get for my photo box? I have a small florescent but I don't like the results, still look dim. phil
