Where are the Model Trucks?
The Red Ranger replied to The Red Ranger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thats kind of my point in starting this thread to see if there are more people interested in truck kits and informing kit makers that there is a major interest. -
Where are the Model Trucks?
The Red Ranger replied to The Red Ranger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Anyone who is in the same boat as me and Viz should post here, and I will take this information and send it to a few people that I know and see if anything can come of it. It's worth a shot right? -
So considering the Truck Market is huge, or at least was until this year, There were never any late model truck model kits made to represent them. Wheres the F250 with the newer Body Style? Or how bout the latest Silverado? I mean they used to put out a few "different" kits of the same truck body, and when they actually have a new style to them there hasn't been anything for... 10 years? Weak Sauce. Also why aren't there any modern Toyota Truck kits out there? Like the only ones there are are the Lindberg 1/20 scale, or the Aoshima kits, and those pre-date the Tacoma. There has, to my knowledge, never been an actual "Tacoma" model, nor a Tundra. The new Tundra would be perfect for kit bashing, using for a monster truck body, but nothing, zilch. It's sad. Anyone know why there is a serious lack in the late model truck area?

All hope is lost!

Any accurate monster jam Monster trucks. Even the latest Bigfoot (with the flag decals) is wrong. -
I am actually going to do two things thanks to you guys! hehe (so excited) First: Carpe Demon I always loved Dan Patrick's Samson with the arms on the hood of the truck, I love any special fiberglass Monster truck honestly. So I am going to have one hand reaching to the front of the hood (very Samson style) holding a Skull where the headlight should be. I think I am going to use a Dodge pickup. I really wish they made Toyota truck model kits. For the grill I will fabricate a literal grill (teeth) for the mouth. On the cab I will have horns coming back and extending past (kinda look like a Razerback a little bit) Horns will be black, the parts of the demon will be red, there will be some flames and I think perhaps some green to contrast a little (not sure where exactly) Secondly: The Dragon Wagon This will be an SUV vehicle with some serious Dragon influenced "fiberglass" addons. This will be primarily Blue and Green with some orange accent. Hehe. So excited. I really wish they made Toyota truck kits Additionally I must ask... I found some 1/20th scale models and I think these could work for a shell of a monster truck considering they are distorted from their true nature. When you look at the F150 body that comes in a Bigfoot kit and look at an F150 regular the Bigfoot body is much bigger, so does anyone know if a 1/20 would actually work better by chance cause that'd be great!

One of my projects nearing it's head is to build my very own monster truck (model, but wouldn't a real one be saweeeet?!) and I don't want to just use the Bigfoot body that comes with it and paint it nice, I want to do something different. The Monster truck will be called "Carpe Demon" but other than that I am drawing blanks. I need to find a body, any kind of body, preferably truck or SUV but something to use. I thought about using a Snake Bite, but those are so hard to find and I would really rather build Snake Bites as the different Snake Bites we've seen through the years. Not to mention if I used a Snake Bite it would just look like a repainted Snake Bite, not Carpe Demon. So anyone out there have some really interesting ideas at all? The closest one I have is to use the Dodge Sidewinder and make some adjustments, but I'm a little worried that the truck is too showy. Also: I am not sure if I want to stick with my Race team colors, rich blue, orange, and bright green or if I should play off the Demon and make it look like it came from hell. Again just throwing ideas around for the prep phase. Any words will be welcomed

So I have questions about this Wildcart, cause it is pretty wild. Any plans to possibly chop the top? As far as the bed's concerned are you going to extend the rear part a little, or have a little box section behind the fenders? I guess Im just anxious to see progress! Looks great though and really awesome idea!

Excellent work sir! It looks real, like it looks soo good that it looks normal. Does that make any sense?
-
Always. I would say go with some sort of orange or yellow stripe or something along those lines that flow with the paint break. that way you can cover up that little area that peeked behind the tape.
-
I haven't seen any of your previous work, but that looks really great. My two favorite colors are Blue and Green as well so I may be a little bias. Also, don't sell yourself short man. As long as you love it and it's fun then thats all that matters right? Thats why anyone else is here, it's sure why I am here.

http://www.projectcuda.com/ Some good inspiration here.

Oh you gotta go Lime Green!
-
Are those the Hide away light grills? The Z/28s had those and they are my favorites, the only grill that looks right on a 69 in my opinion.
-
I bet those would make a good shift knob for a shifter too!

Ohh I love this car. You can't see me but I am drooling.

official WIP drift car build off thread
The Red Ranger replied to diymirage's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thank you, I'm contemplating putting sponsors on it since it is a drift car, and I have started my own Model car racing team (A theme that will be present with a few of my builds) but Im not sure. I appreciate it. I agree, I am all about prepping and planning, but for me I am always thinking of new things so sometimes I go off the page, and a few points there were blind choices made that worked out. I only hope I can duplicate this for the other side of the car. EDIT** This is the final design. At least with graphics and such, I am pretty positive the color Combo wont be touched. The Blue and Orange look great with the green lettering I think it's tight! -

So I have made some progress, ALMOST done with the drivers side, almost ready to start on the passenger side. Really scared. Still have to install the front bumper cover, I think i want to go with a Wing, but I am not sure. EDIT* Look below for the final design, now I just have to finish building lol. -
Wow I love this car, and your work sir is awesome! I watched this build from the start and it turned out spectacularly!

I just bought a Fujimi Nismo Skyline and it's curbside, and the Italeri Porsche I picked up is also curbside, am I correct in assuming that most foreign models are curbsiders?
-
I recently purchased a Fujimi Skyline GT-R and to my surprise it is Curbside only, no engine detail at all, which isn't fun for me. Can anyone tell me some great ways to open these cars up and what to do after cutting out the hood? Also does anyone know of a great GT R34 Skyline that has engine detail?
-
I am actually using this kind of customizing on my Porsche for the G60S build. It is always hard for me to cut into a perfectly good body, but the end result is usually always great, unless it wasn't thought out well, but usually it is.

I gotcha. ###### internet doesn't translate text well. I am using Bondo glazing putty, it works really well for me, little goes ALONG way so. Had some setbacks. I may not make the deadline for this build, but I am going to try. Im just calculating what it will take for me to do the other side, and the roll cage, and I still have to do the turbo But I hope for best -
