  1. I love this thing. The colour, the stance the wheels, the accents., love it. Love it so much, if you don't mind I'm gonna use it as inspiration for the '68 Charger I just picked up. David
  2. I went Christmas shopping today, and since I was in the mood I gave myself a few presents. Stopped at Michaels, twice taking advantage of their 50% off coupon picking up a Jeep Rubicon and a '68 Charger. I also hit the LHS and treated myself to some paints, some sheeting to fab the airboxes for my Daytona Coupes and an extra needle for my airbrush. The postman also thought I needed some more stuff, so he was kind enough to drop off some Studio 27 Martini decals for one of my 918's and a lovely box of wheels from Plamoz, the Weissach Package set for the 918 and a set of Corvette Cup wheels (these things look amazing and I haven't even opened 'em up yet. Also, 9 days, door to door, HK to Canada. That's fast.
  3. Couple Ebay auctions showed up today. First, AMT 1967 SEMA Edition Mustang Fastback, was a super deal, $16 CDN including shipping and exchange. Second a variety of MCG items for my Daytona Coupes, 1- some seatbelt fabric 2- ignition wires 3-black and red battery cables 4-some braided cooling line and 5-photo etch battery hardware. Still waiting on my Daytona parts from HRM.....hopefully before Christmas, but Canada Customs is notoriously slow at this time of year. David
  4. Thanks for the review, looks like a very nice kit indeed. Not sure why Tamiya refuses to do a full engine detail kit anymore. Most seem to just have the detailed under side. or the preformed engine compartment with one or two addons to the top, like the Nissan GTR. Oh well, still nice enough to buy one. You think the prices of Japanese imports is high in the States, most here now are $60+, Ferrari kits getting up to $75ish. I love supporting my local hobby stores, but saving almost half the money makes Ebay just too attractive. David
  5. nope, there's some metallic blue ones, not sure if its Guardsman blue, but its close, seen some black w/silver stripes/ w/gold stripes and seen one with burgundy stripes. Red w/white stripes, yellow w/silver stripes.....you get the idea, but yes, seems a large majority of them were silver with lots of different colour stripes David
  6. Ray, Personally I love the Series 1. The only draw back to it was they never did it as a coupe, which to me should of been a no brainer. I have a couple of these on the go too, but with all the other things I'm working on I wont be able to get to mine after the new year. Will be watching this one closely. If I might suggest, a nice metallic red with silver stripes, kind of like the reverse of whats on the box art. David
  7. Wheels look great Tom, much better than the kit supplied versions, I just ordered a set of these for my kit. Looking forward to your build, love your videos. David
  8. umm.... umm....umm....umm....wow!!!! I hate you guys that can get your paint to look like wet glass. Nice job. David
  9. I'll be watching. I love restoration projects. Keep us posted. David
  10. Nice work Bill. Can you post a pic of the colour scheme you're going for, don't know the spice red colour. I have one of these kits I started last year, but had to redo it due to damage the paint receive during my move last fall. I like the wheels you chose for yours, I'm going to order the Plamoz C6 Cup wheels for mine after Christmas. Looking forward to more. David
  11. Small update: The GS coupe has now been stripped, took about 15mins total in the IPA. I decided to order some replacement parts from Harold of HRM for my Daytona Coupe instead of trying to straighten parts, too much work. I also ordered many of the missing components from Harold for the GS Coupe. So until I get those parts in progress with be slow as I don't want to get too deep into building anything without all the pieces on hand. I did manage to get abit done today though, my HRM kit had an extra hood that was pretty warped that I wasn't able to straighten. So I removed the hood hinges by cutting out a section of the HRM hood. I then removed a piece from the GS hood and grafted the hinge section from the HRM hood in place. I need to add some more putty and sand it out. I'll put some primer on it in the morning and see how it looks. I also added the inner fenders which need some clean up too. But I've got time while I wait for my parts to arrive. David
  12. Tee it up JC, one for each version of the Cobra you like? David
  13. At this point, Im not 100% sure. I've got 2 bottles of Guardsman Blue already, one from MCW and the other from ScaleFinishes so I have more than enough paint to do both cars guardsman blue. Will likely do the CSX2299 chassis. It finished 1st in class at Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans in '65, also 1st at Le Mans in '64. If I do one of the Viking Blue cars, like the class winner from the '64 Le Mans I'll have to buy more paint, and I already plan on picking up some other aftermarket items for detailing the engine bays so that'll be more money spent. Also I just ordered some replacement parts tonight from Harold from HRM, so I'm already investing more than I had originally planned. That being said, the Daytona Coupes are my favourite cars so abit of over spending can be justified. Atleast till I look at the bank statement this month.
  14. Another update: After about a day and a half in the CSC bath the inside of the HRM body and hood were totally stripped, however the exterior paint, which I figure had been on there for close to 10yrs was hardly touched. Small areas were flaking off but that's about it. So I was able to tracked down some 91% IPA, which isn't really that easy in Canada, had to pick it up at Target in the US, and dropped the HRM body, hood and interior tub into it. It took about an hour to completely remove all the paint, I was totally amazed at how fast it worked. Now as impressive as the IPA was at stripping the age old paint it also had a negative effect. The ventilation scoops on the hood and body, were thinly cast and the IPA made them so soft they lost their shape. Also the resin itself began to soften up, so washed the parts hoping the resin wouldn't soften up any further. I think I got lucky, no damage to the body, just the weather strip on the inside of the engine compartment became abit wavy but once I taped the hood it place it straightened back out. I'm going to give the HRM body a couple of days to air out and hopefully recure. Some pics: On the left the GS Coupe body with the warped HRM interior tub taped to it to try remove some of the twist from the tub. And on the right the HRM Coupe, taped to the GS interior tub, that's straight, in and effort to remove abit of the twist out of the HRM body. The GS Coupe body hasn't been stripped yet, and as you can see the IPA really cleaned up the HRM Coupe, looks like its never even been painted. Comment and Criticisms welcome. David
  15. I've actually been once, about 15 yrs ago. Was a great event, lots of amazing builds. That event was actually where I picked up my MCW Guardsman blue paint for my GS Daytona coupe,. its only taken a decade and a half for me to finally start to build the darn thing and think about using that paint. My plan is to go up Friday morning, its only about a 6hr drive or so from where I live and then head home Sat night after the event, tho I wouldn't be opposed to staying the second night. I figured atleast one more person going down with me would mean I have more money to spend on shineys from the vendors So still looking for a co-pilot, and if there's 2 more that would like a ride, my T&C has a tonne of room. David
  16. I am thinking of attending this event this year and would like to know if anyone in the Niagara/Western NY area that also plans to attend would like to get together to share costs? Split a hotel room for 1 or 2 nights, 1 is fine with me, driving home late wont be an issue for me. I have a large comfortable mini van so I could easily take up to 3 other people, with luggage and kits for display if that's your intention. If interested please PM me and we can swap emails/phone numbers to hash out details. I live in Dunnville Ontario, so anyone from Hamilton to Fort Erie, or Buffalo NY I could pick up and drop off. If you're further into Ontario, TO/Kitchener/Waterloo region you could always met at my place and leave your vehicle here as I have lots of parking at a private residence. I'd like to formalize plans sooner rather than later so if interested please let me know ASAP. David
  17. Small update: With the body, interior tub, and chassis in the SuperClean bath for a clean up there hasn't been much progress yet. Before going into the bath I noticed an issue I'm going to have going forward, due to improper storage over the years the body, interior and chassis have all twisted. See pics. As you can see I have some work cut out for me. Sooooo if anyone has any tips on straightening out HRM resin I'd appreciate some tips. David
  18. Cheers JC, TYVM. David
  19. Years ago I purchased a Gunze Sangyo Cobra Daytona Coupe and started it. Recently I picked up a HRM Cobra Daytona Coupe off of ebay. I started the GS one years ago, but it needs to be redone. The HRM was started by someone else in the past and needs to be redone. I'll go into details on each as I go. For now, a few pics : HRM wheels/tires I picked up along time ago (left) to replace poor quality white metal wheels from the GS kit (right) . In the back ground the GS body. Close up of the HRM wheels Last week I got some of replacement parts from Jeremy of Clearly Scale that he casted of the GS white metal parts. His parts are very nicely detailed and pretty clean. Only the suspension parts needed some clean up, but that's not an issue. Shots of the HRM kit: Also included in the HRM kit was 2 sets of VRM decals for the 1964-65 Daytona Coupes. The decal sets have a nice booklet that have some detail drawings of the Coupes as raced at various races during the 64/65 Seasons. The HRM kit is being stripped atm. Update later tonight or tomorrow. Also, the HRM kit is missing the instruction sheets, so if anyone here who has built or has one in their stash and could scan and email me the instructions I'd be forever indebted to you. Thanks David
  20. Nice to see some hard to find items now available in Canada. You've got mail.
