Weird, theres a button to toggle to the next weeks coupons, and its 50% off starting the 8th-14 guess it didn't change the link, but if you go to the site page and check the next weeks adds it should show correctly as a 20% off 1 sale or regular price item and a 50% off 1 regular price item. Either way I'll check in the morning before heading out, but I appreciate the heads up, cause I would of been mad had I got that wrong. David

Len, TBH, I don't really remember. From another kit. They might of even been off a set of aftermarket Aoshima rims I had lying around. If I remember I'll post the source. David

Not sure where to post this, but I was checking to see what discounts Michaels had on this week and starting tomorrow 50% off 1 regular item. Worth the 35min drive for me to hit one up for something new.... link to the coupon http://canada.michaels.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-MichaelsCanada-Site/default/CanadaCoupons-ViewCoupons?storeid=3966&address=1779%20stone%20church%20rd%20e%2c%20unit%202%2c%20stoney%20creek%2c%20on%20l8j%200b4&hours=mon-fri%209%3a00am%20-%2010%3a00pm%20sat%208%3a00am%20-%2011%3a00pm&tel=905-578-1050&weekData=next didn't check the US site, but since the US does the Canadian site, I'm guessing they'll have it too. Cannonball Run 2016 "The Aussieball" Official Build Thread
Jhedir6 replied to TFchronos's topic in Community Builds
I've got some of Jeremy's ( Clearly Scale) parts for my Gunze Daytona. They're just resin copies of the crappy white metal parts cleaned up, interior panels, suspension towers, rims etc, nicely casted. I just this week purchased one of his complete engines and some other items, so if you can wait about a week I'll have them and can post some pics for you. David -
First off, big thanks to Greg Wann for casting one of these up for me. Been looking for along time and over the holidays I found a 4 year old thread talking about this kit and there were a bunch of posts about Greg making these. I had no real hopes of actually getting one, let alone receiving a reply to my PM but I sent one anyways. I'm convinced that Greg was sitting at his keyboard waiting to reply as I had no sooner stood up from sending my PM to look back at the screen and see a reply. To my surprise I get a "yes I can make you up one", I swear, I cried just a little bit. After a few back and forth PM's I got a Paypal invoice and my search was coming to an end. And today, its over, well mostly. As nice as Greg's kit is it isn't a full TK. Aside from the AMT 1967 donor kit, I'll still need tire ( parts box fixed that), door handles, photo etch and decals. So I'll have to spend some time this weekend digging through parts boxes for some of what I need that I don't already have with the donor kit, but I'm sure I can come up with some items. So a couple pics before I did anything: Body shot: What I got in the box, minus the tires they were mine already. Body, hood, 4 wheels, 4 outer wheel rings, bag of clear resin lights. Closeup of one of the wheels I trimmed abit of the flash from. At the moment I have Michelin's on the rims, not correct for Eleanor but I as of yet been unable to find some Goodyear F1's to use I started on some clean up already, I'll post some of those pics later on. Comment and Criticisms always welcome. David

67 Eleanor transkit available?
Jhedir6 replied to Devilsnake98's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I realize this is an old thread, but should anyone still be looking like I was just before Christmas, Greg is still producing them. Ordered mine on Boxing Day, shipped the Monday after Christmas, arrived at my house today. 9 days from Arizona to Ontario Canada, not bad with New Years and Canada Customs to deal with. Thanks very much Greg, the resin is nice and smooth very little flash, and straight as an arrow. There is only a couple some pinholes that are nothing to fix, a lot of major manufacturers ship stuff that's a lot more effort to clean up. Well worth it. Thanks David -
Oh, those look nice, got a link to his stuff, not heard of Kris Morgan's work before. I got my Eleanor today...Thanks Greg David

Just got this today in the mail. And even before it got here I was thinking, that it needed to be a hardtop. I know the Miata purists out there won't like that much. But then I thought, if I'm going to make it a hardtop, why not go just abit further and make it a real car. Being that I love GT race cars, I figure this might not look too bad as one. So I have a BMW Z4 GT3 car I am going to use as a donor and make this little puppy into a GT. I'm tagging it as a GT4 car, cause its abit smaller than the BMW so it wouldn't likely ever be in the same Class in any GT event, but a smaller racer in its own class could potentially happen. My plan/hope is I'll be able to just graft parts from the BMW right onto the Miata without losing any of the Miataness......I made a new word.....and since I'm juiced up about this idea, I hope to be able to post a pic later tonight with the first body mods under way. Comment and Criticisms welcome and appreciated. Always. David

The postman was kind enough to stop by again today and drop me off a belated Christmas gift....I still haven't bought any new kits this year....yet. Ordered just before xmas so not the fastest delivery from Japan I've had, but not bad with all the holidays either. There's a nice kit review already done by Gregg in the review section so check it out if you want to see what's in the box. And, shortly I'll start a new thread on what's going to befall this little roadster in the On the Workbench section. Happy New Year all! David

Great, thanks Travis. If you find them let me know what you'd like for them. Thanks for the replies guys. I just took out all the parts from the water bath. Letting them air-dry and I'll try to get some work done tomorrow afternoon. I have noticed one issue. The front of both the framerails are twisted slightly and I'm not sure of the best way to straighten them out. I'll try to post a pick in the morning of them to show them, they aren't too bad. I'll post a pic in the morning and would appreciate any suggestions. David

Please be gentle, this will be my first ever Big Rig. I picked this kit up during this past summer at a garage sale for $1.00 CDN, about $.70cents US for those south of the border. Kit looks to be complete but the paint was all orange peel. Sorry, I didn't take any pics of the kit before the chemical baths, not sure why. It's been completely stripped now. Some of the glue joints have even come apart nicely so it will make reconstruction easier. I plan to keep it pretty much OOB, might add some wiring to the engine compartment. Some pics: Box is pretty beat up, Everything appears to be there, the items not in the photo are soaking in some water at the moment. The decals are toast, I'll have to source a new set, so if anyone has a set lying around???? hint hint . I'll try Revell parts and see if I can get a set. And the stripped parts, started with 91% IPA which didn't really strip all the paint but it did soften it up, I then dunked everything in some CSC (yes CSC, I still had a jug left over from before they changed it here in Canada. I read in another post they did that in the US along time ago, but here you could get CSC up until about a year ago. Think now all the new jugs are just Super Clean. Chassis is out of the chemical baths and in this tub, I just didn't take another pic. I haven't chosen a colour scheme as of yet, either a blue metallic or maybe grey, have to see what I have lying around for paint. Thanks for looking, looking forward to learning a lot from the Big Boys. If anyone has any links to builds they've done of this truck I'd be honoured to look at them, post up some links please. Comments and criticisms welcome and appreciated. David

Cannonball Run 2016 "The Aussieball" Official Build Thread
Jhedir6 replied to TFchronos's topic in Community Builds
Nice truck Bruce. Mine's going to be more on the stock side, with some added refinements. I plan to use the Jeep Rubicon tires, chassis & interior pan from the 2015 Raptor, roll cage from an old rally car, modified and widened to fit the Raptor. Some aftermarket racing seats and some other bits I'm keeping underwraps for the moment. Here's a couple mock up shots, note the Blue Raptor is from my box build that's not yet complete, its just getting used to see how things will look. David -

Jhedir6 replied to TFchronos's topic in Community Builds
Quick question since this is my first CBP, do I post WIP pics here in this thread, or do you make your own thread in the proper section for the vehicle type you're building and tag it with the CBP Aussie Cannonball Run in the title? Thanks, David -

MENG 1/24 Ford F350 Super Duty Crew Cab: Sneak Peek Pics!
Jhedir6 replied to Gregg's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Ok, I know I'm coming late to the party on this thread as it's 1.5 yrs old now, but I have some info for anyone interested. Not sure if Meng was or IS in the future going to release a Dually version, but if you're still interested in doing a Dually you can get the fender panels here http://www.scenesunltd.com/collections/all/dually-panels I bought them back in October or so, Daniel is a great guy and his castings are smooth, thin, clean and flexible. My set had almost no flash, no pin holes and there was only a very slight "flare" to the top bed rail on the panels, nothing that's going to be noticed once glued to the inner fenders. Here's a couple shots of my mock up. Please note there is no suspension underneath this at the moment, the rear axle is just sitting on the frame rails. The panels come in a nice whitish resin. I've already primed mine to match with the cab just to see how it would look. Happy New Year guys. David -
Someone backed up a Brink's Truck. We expect lots of pics. Grats, I'd love one too but don't think it will happen. Please share all its huge goodness with us. David

I tried purple power for the first time
Jhedir6 replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been using it for along time. Generally it will not break glue joints, especially CA glue, tho it will weaken them depending on how much was used. It removes chrome almost all the time. The only chrome I've had issues with it not removing it quickly and completely is the chrome on Aoshima wheels. I've tried on an after market set and a set from a GTR kit and both times it either didn't do much of anything or only dulled the shine. Any other chrome it removes it in seconds to minutes. Remember too that it will last a long time. I have a old round 4L ice cream container I use and that will last me pretty much a whole year using about 1/2 the full SC jug at a time. The more you strip the less potent it becomes, but it will last a long while. I've used it to strip resin kits too, with absolutely no ill-effects. The only kit I ever had something happen too was an old glue bomb I was trying to restore and I left the kit in the SC bath for about a month. It removed the paint, chrome and actually started to remove some of the red dye from the plastic and it's now abit pinkish instead of bright red, but the plastic wasn't weakened at all. David -
I just ordered from Greg Wann one of his Eleanor kits. And today, while I was doing some house cleaning, this showed up on my back window ledge. Since I finally was able to track down an Eleanor kit, another one from my Bucketlist, I'm naming her Eleanor (Ele for short) David

Just from my local hobby store, its a Vallejo product, 35ml large plastic bottle. Item #790 Silver. It's great stuff, goes on smooth, nice for detailing chassis as it leaves no brush marks, much better than Tamiya paint. David

Jeep Rubicon
Jhedir6 replied to Jhedir6's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Another update, everything is sprayed their primary colours. Man, I've never moved this fast on a model in my life, I'd say I might have this one done by the end of the weekend, but that'll just jinx myself. Chassis and suspension parts are painted with Zero Paints Kawasaki Black (had it left over from a bike build a couple years ago) Body accessories, bumpers, step bars, fender flares all painted ScaleFinishes Gun Metal Grey. Interior parts ( didn't but those in the shot) are all done in ScaleFinishes Flat Black. Exhaust, exhaust tip, rocker plates and rims all done with ScaleFinishes Light Metallic Grey. And I masked off the rear of the Jeep and sprayed the rear treadplate on the tailgate in ScaleFinishes Light Metallic Grey as well. That's it for tonight, Merry Christmas all. David -
Jeep Rubicon
Jhedir6 replied to Jhedir6's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Small update: Between cleaning and getting the house ready for Christmas visitors tomorrow I've got some colour on the body and interior tub. I decanted my Tamiya TS Metallic Olive Green spray, my first time trying this. And all I can say is.....wow. Works like a charm. First shot is of the body, tub and the spray can decanted into an empty ScaleFinishes bottle that I cleaned out. I love this colour. Second a close up of the spray can and the decanted paint. Couple shots of the body. Sorry for the crappy pics, I have an old digital camera that I hope to replace come the New Year. Thanks for looking. David -
Jeep Rubicon
Jhedir6 replied to Jhedir6's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
You're right, it is a light silver, the one pic I have it was hard to tell if it was white or silver, but yours is abit clearer and easier to make out the correct colour. It's a moot point tho, I've decided to go with the metallic olive I have. Everything is primed, just waiting for it to dry, then I'll start the spraying colours. -
This is the Jeep Rubicon I picked up at Michaels this week. Since I'm still waiting on parts for some other projects I figured I'd start this one off and just do a quick OOB build. Just a couple pics of some of the parts and quick mock up. At first I was abit disappointed, thinking it looked quite small but once parts were added to the body it grows some and doesn't look so small. Main parts, I pre assembled the roll cage, and added the firewall to the interior box, other than that it's unstarted atm. I then mocked it up and rather like the thing now. And a shot of the wheels and tires. I will likely striped the chrome and do them up in a light gun metal or aluminum. Not sure yet what colour I'm going to do, maybe white like the Lara Croft Tomb Raider movie vehicle. Or, and more likely I have an olive green metallic paint left from an old project I can use since the body is small enough, there should be enough left for this. Suggestions welcome tho. Thanks for looking David not sure why I got a double of the same pic, but I can't seem to delete it out of my original post.
