  1. Nice start. She should be tickled
  2. I've got one just like that somewhere.. built it 20+yrs ago. I love the 1/24 monogram kits
  3. The front clip on the black one is all wonky... It droops on the sides. It actually appears to be the same kit except for that and the side vent holes
  4. First primer/sanding stage...
  5. Got the first coat of primer sprayed and then wet sanded. Then wouldn't you know it, I found a couple spot that I needed to clean up. Here's where we stand so far. With the grey primer, it's kinda starting to look the part. More John Wick's "Hitman" Mustang soon...
  6. No actually I'm using the 69 body out of this 3 pack. Bought it 20+ yrs ago. That other one I take it, is based on the 1/24 Monogram 70 Boss... and I honestly don't think I've ever seen one of those. One slight difference between the movie and my take on it, is I plan on leaving the Mustang letters on the back... maybe...
  7. Get you one of these or a candle works, too. Hold it to the spot... BUT KEEP IT MOVING... until it "changes" the looks of the plastic. And that's hard to describe until you see it. After that you push something hard into it and let it cool.... Practice.. practice... practice on junk before you do anything on an important body.
  8. That would be sweet
  9. Dang Tom... I like this! Nicely done.
  10. I look at the Wick car the same as the Cage Eleanor... It's a mutant. And being a movie car, there's no way to make the exact thing. It's like building a General Lee lol. I do appreciate the insight thought. I'm going to be watch the movie a couple more times and grab some screen shots.. I may work up the shifter, but then again, I may leave it a stick. I'm undecided on a lot of things right now. I'm spraying spoons with every gray I have.... and seeing as I dig Charcoal gray vehicles so much, I have a lot of different versions of those...
  11. The 1/24 scale is a 70 originally tooled my Monogram. The 2 I'm using are 1/25. The Mach is the one that had the jacked up front end "headlights too low"
  12. When the Revell 69 Boss 302 came out, I'll admit, I only wanted the car to see the difference in the front clips. I still had a 69 from the mustang 3 pack I bought 20+ years ago to compare it too. Unfortunately when it arrived, I tossed the new kit in the stash with the rest and forgot all about it.. Mustangs, although I do kinda like a few, really aren't my thing... So yesterday, I decided to watch a movie that I had never seen before... John Wick... It had been recommended to me by sister... hoowee... what a good flick. All the action needed. A little taste of comedic relief. And a story to follow along... And in this movie was a mustang that really jumped out at me. So I raced into the dungeon and searched the stash... Found the Boss and have finally found the Mach 1. And so begins my next Hollywood star car.. and my entry into this years CBR... This is where we sit so far... Been gluing, cutting, scraping and sanding all day... We have the old mustang kit body. I've added the nose and hood from the Boss kit. And also a scoop from the Revell 68 Mustang kit (not yet attached). I have also added some evergreen strips below the doors... More John Wick to come...
  13. Thank ya sir... Well... I knocked my glass over. Which knocked the body to the floor. I got up to get it. Hung my foot. Stumbled. Stepped on the body. I have another 69 charger in my cart to purchase, just haven't pulled the trigger. I just saw John Wick for the first time this weekend and have been trying to figure out what to do with this mustang anyway. Found the mach 1. Already making progress on the build. Hood scoop (not attached) from a revell 68, body from the mach 1, nose, hood and spoiler from the boss 302. Added evergreen below the doors for the chrome strips.
  14. I've got a Monogram Duesenberg Dual Cowl Phaeton I've been looking into building.
  15. Well I finally got to where I need to be to start on the bullit charger, and just like that... Screwed up a vital piece. So yeah... If the court would be so inclined to scrap my idea and grant me a pardon, Id like to rejoin with John Wicks mustang... I have the boss 302 here... I think I have the old mach 1 for a more accurate body in storage. About to remove the plastic and get started right now.
  16. Thanks... Those are pretty sweet too!
  17. Those are sweet, Tom. Builds after my own heart
  18. Yes, the glue and snap kits are both what is considered the rarer 5 window cab
  19. Thanks Bill. I tried the salt technique with the 65 I did earlier in the year, but it came out looking like splatter paint.... let's just say, it wasn't at all what I wanted. After staring at the thing for a week I thought about trying a theory. So I repainted it and for kicks tried it this way... It all starts with Red primer. And you have to get good coverage with it. Then the color of choice.. Since all the old Chevy trucks had a green in the line, I went with Olive Drab for the flat faded look. After the whole truck is painted and dried out, I started hitting it with a 400 grit sponge. After I broke through the paint everywhere I wanted the rust to show through, I jumped up to 1000 and 1500 grit sponges and worked out the finer details. I looked at a lot of photos online and used what I could remember about relatives old trucks from my younger years. It ends up being A LOT of wasted paint. When I got where I wanted, I added Tamiya weather master powder to the spots I sanded all the way through. Waited a day or so and cleared the truck and the chrome tree in flat. Slap the kit together as much as you want... most of these I went curbside... Then on to adding the weather master powder to areas that needed more depth and color. As I've added trucks to the "line", it became easier to work it out in my mind what to do and not. And, to me, they became a little better looking every one. And dang it, did I enjoy it to boot... I'll see if I can't work up what I did and snap some pics along the way. Maybe it'll help somebody out..
