  1. This is a more recent build of mine. Many years ago I got a box with the remains of a built AMT Peterbilt 352, a brush-painted, damaged and incomplete glue bomb. I never knew what to do with it until I thought this could be a good start for my first conversion. Should I fail nothing would be lost. Finally dismantling, paint stripping, converting into a daycab and replacing the missing parts wasn't half as difficult as supposed. After finishing the tractor I felt encouraged to start my first scratch building project for the trailer. As expected compared to a kit it was laborious but also not too difficult. Anyway both projects were much more fun than building OOB.
  2. Jürgen, thanks for the link. I think I understand your explanation. Making the grille seems to be not as difficult as I supposed. Nevertheless I would drop the F cab if you have such objections. As I said earlier I would spend too much time and too much money to fail at last. I think you mentioned somewhere that you have a considerable number of different AITM cabs still in your stash. Any tangible recommendation among these for a very first project would be highly appreciated (supposedly not only by me).
  3. Jürgen, I am a bit disappointed. You have probably realized that I am totally delighted with your AITM models. By following a WIP process I hoped to learn if my skills would be sufficient to build a test model. Searching the web during the past weeks I found a lot of completely botched cabs and I don't want to add another failure. Besides this my expenses would be considerable. Cab, donor kit, freight, and German customs duties would add up to roughly € 180.00 for one tractor. That's not exactly chicken feed. You mentioned at the beginning that the worst problem of this cab is the cast grille. Searching the web and the major forums I found no other modeler who solved this problem. All AITM F cabs I found still had the cast grille. Maybe I can cope with all other problems, but what about the grille? Photo etching f. e. is beyond my capabilities, so this would exclude the F cab for me.
  4. Very nice, very clean and nice modifications!
  5. Is there any WIP contribution about this model? I couldn't find here anything. Maybe in another forum?
  6. Thanks for sharing another trick. I think it would be great if you compile all your techniques applied on your resin cabs in one comprehensive tutorial.
  7. Sadly I can't open the thumbs either!
  8. Another perfect colour combo!
  9. Beautiful paintwork! Dividing the red and the white areas by golden pinstripes achieves a perfect effect.
  10. You don't see built Payhaulers very often, very nice colour combination. Very attractive colours also on the logger.
  11. Thanks for the compliments, some more Euro trucks to follow ...
  12. You did it again! Another museum quality model. I hope I will have your skills one day.
  13. Your second build? Not bad!
  14. Amazingly high standard for such an old build. Only few modelers dare to show projects they finished 40 years ago.
  15. I think hitherto there was no model of a MAN truck in this forum. MAN (abbreviatoin of Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg AG, now together with Scania belonging to Volkswagen) is Europe's second-largest manfacturer of medium and heavy trucks and buses behind Mercedes. Its history is equally impressive, since Rudolf Diesel was working for MAN when he developed the Diesel engine and the direct injection as well. Though this MAN is one of the first Italeri truck kits it has the typical high Italeri quality. The multi-piece cab is not that easy to build but the finished model looks very realistic. I think there was a reissue some years ago. The Italeri trailer is long out of production. The Italeri crane is well-made but needs some extra detailing.
  16. i love the colour scheme of the Ford!
  17. Such a masterpiece would deserve to be placed in the front row of any display cabinet.
  18. Unusual colour scheme, I like the green chassis.
