This is the best Italeri truck kit that I know. Volvo's FH 16 was very frequently seen on European roads so it is easy to say that it was perfectly replicated. Because the kit was released about 20 years ago it comes still with an authentic and fully detailed chassis. Sadly later Italeri kits had only a simplified generic chassis in order to keep production costs low. When taking these pictures I damaged my usual paper brick wall backdrop. My wife gave me a plain white tablecloth as a stopgap. When looking very closely the fabric structure is still visible, but she thinks the new pictures look better than before, probably she is right.

As the Italeri kit number indicates this is an early issue (1980s or 1990s) of the civil version. All in all this is still an excellent kit except annoying two-piece styrene tyres. The latest re-issues (IT 6354) are slightly different military versions with improved rims but still without rubber tyres.

Fantastic craftmanship and absolutely incredible pictures! -
Thanks for the explanation! Modeltruckbuilder gave it before but he deleted his post in the meantime. I have no idea why because it was correct. I would like to add that today the most common solution is a bit different. Today all parts sit between cab and drum. The hydaulic pump is now driven via transmission - auxiliary drive -short prop shaft. Pump and hydraulic motor are connected by short hydraulic lines.

This is my most recent build. Forum member Jürgen (Plastheniker) gave a short history of Büssing trucks in his topic Scratch Built 1951 Büssing 12000 U13 6x4 Underfloor Engine Truck http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=82042 so I think can confine myself to the kit. Revell's Büssing is part of a series of three similar kits. The other two kits are the 1950 Krupp Titan and the 1950s Hanomag trailer. Actually Revell planned to continue this series in the 1990s with several more classic German big trucks but unfortunately sales figures of the first three kits were not as high as expected which made Revell drop these plans. There are reissues of all three kits from time to time. There is not much to say about the Büssing kit. It is simply the the best truck kit I know. Details are incredible, fit and casting quality especially of the chrome parts are perfect. Finally the finished kit makes a perfect replica of one of the classic German post-war trucks. It is a truly outstanding kit that justifies its (outside Germany supposedly rather high) price. As far as I know this is also true for the two other kits.

Thank you all for your replies, much appreciated! When I built the model some older Italeri truck kits still had styrene tires. My rear tires came from one of these old kits. I "regrooved" them to replicate off-road treads. -

Excellent idea, great execution! -
This is one of my early conversions. I built it still without the www only with a limited number of pictures from books, therefore I think the model is more than 15 years old. I used at least three different kits from AMT, Revell and Italeri and many parts of my spares box. The dump box is scratch built.
