  1. Still Bitchin" Had a good friend in High School 1965 , that had an orange '46. He married Linda Ronstadts sister.
  2. The Moonlight Modelers have run a monthly "Theme " contest almost from the start more than thirty years ago. Yes we've been at it that long. I started the theme contest in my high school model club for several reasons. First the "just build anything" kind of got into a rut. With everyone only building what THEY liked it didn't seem like the members, club or their modeling skills were going anywhere. So I started doing themes in and around their interest, same kit, make or model, I'E' Ford, Chevy. Camaro, Mustang. " But I don't like Mustangs !" OK, do one up with a different engine, do a wreck, use YOUR imagination. The last MLM Theme was Pontiac's, I don't do Pontiacs. So I thought back to those high school days and my own sage advise. I decided to do an "In your face" build. Everyone really interested in one make or an other usually built legitimate cars pretty close to stock or street stock. My approach was going to be in your face, Don't ruin that classic making it a "GASSER" I recently read an article somewhere about how absurd newer gasser builds were with tinted windows, tinted headlights, up in the air stance. Yep that's where I went.Oh yeah, did i mention White Wall Slicks ?
  3. You nailed it Pete. got any fuel lines on them carbs ? Just remember, " If'n some is good, n' more is better, then Too much outta be just about right."
  4. Why 1/20th scale really begs the question, why 1/12, why 1/16th ? I really think the last run of 1/12th stuff from Monogram ( '57 Chevy. ' Camaro. '65 Vett) were really quite toy like except for the great engine detail. So "larger scale = Greater Detail" isn't the answer. I also find this true with AMT's foray into 1/16 scale with their Tri-Five series, BIGGER didn't get us any more detail, just a blown up version of their 1/25th scale kits.
  5. The Hubley Metal kits were 1/20th scale.
  6. 58,318 names deserve more.
  7. Looking for the cast nose, wing and scoops
  8. Is anyone still casting parts for a Daytona Charger , nose, wing, scoops ?
  9. Had a link to someone that sold Resin parts for the MPC 1/16th Charger converting it to a Daytona. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. A good comparison of the Lindberg "40 on this thread. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/126192-whats-out-there-revell-monogram-1940-ford-kits/
  11. I've begun to wonder about chassis detail as well. If you're not building for a contest that actually looks under there what's the point? Spend more time on top.
  12. AMT "40 Coupe, '50's style, Olds engine out of the '39 / '40 Sedan. That's the beauty of these old AMT kits.
  13. With TĂșlio Lazzaroni's great "'40 Ford Comparo" Thread http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/127933-40-ford-coupe-comparo/ we need to see some "40 Ford builds. Tell us which one you've got and a little about it.
  14. Great job. I always enjoy the enthusiasm these guys have. Miss Ed China https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IB15T1LYiY
  15. Doesn't look like it. https://www.drive2.ru/b/2335194/ Looks to be more Sunny copy of the old AMT kit.
  16. Did this one ever show up ? What is it like ? Is the hood/ big scoop in the kit ?
  17. Wonder if that hood and scoop really came in the box ?
  18. What scale is the Summers Brothers car ? Is it still available ?
  19. Most if not all come as kits or built models. offered by many different model companies, Revell, Hawk and Lindberg. These are very nicely detailed hefty kits. As such they are either loved or hated by many. My first thought building a kit version many years ago was where's all the interior detail? Next was wondering why the mix of plastic and metal ? It seems it was all for the ease of manufacturing. Assembly is another area. more to the ease of manufacturing than how real engine parts would go together. Here's a look at one of their latest.
  20. Wonder how the licencing went on this one ?
  21. Certainly the bane of aircraft and armor builders. encluding cockpit detail that can never be seen. Do you ever put detail into a build that knowone will ever see, much less can't see ? What comes to mind is the great detail included in so many kit engines, crankshaft connecting rod assemblies. I think Revell started this in their early Tri-Five Chevy kits. Jo-Han had some great engine interior detail as well. You can't beat the AMT '66 Nova engine in 1/25th. Now the Aurora Racing Scenes in 1/16th is entirely another matter.
  22. Ok, last one, "Flat Bill"
