  1. Try contacting MCW. Here's the link. He can custom mix paints. If you have the codes or pictures, he can mix paint. http://ourworld-top.cs.com/mcwautofinishes/
  2. http://www.stradasports.com/coming_soon.htm http://www.stradasports.com/p24057_1.jpg cooming soon from Profil 24 Flying Lizard Porsche LM 2007.
  3. This is a kit that MS Hobbies produces. He is always looking for suggestions for his next resin project. Here is his web site. http://www.mshobbies.com/
  4. Yes, Porsche wins again but both the Porsches and the Accuras are running illegally sized motors. That's why you will not be seeing them at Le Mans any time soon. Also the poor Audis are handicapped so badly with the amount fuel they can carry.
  5. I emailed Mark from MS Hobbies and he was going to sell me a body. I would highly recommend doing business with MS Hobbies.
  6. The Aston Martin is not a DBR9. It is a Vanquish with a DBR9 body on it. It is running a V-8 instead of a V-12. It is a European Spec GT3 converted to a GT2 race car. That is the reason why it is running in the GT2 category. The GT1 car that ran in the last race was very heavily damaged and they are still repairing the damage on the car. It should be back in the next race.
  7. Was out of town for two weeks and the day before I left, I painted the second Toyota. Like an idiot, not thinking, I left in a spot where the sun could get to it. Got back home and saw the paint was completely ruined. So I started to strip it. It looked like the paint was helping to hold the model in shape. As soon as I started stripping, I noticed that there were a bunch of areas cracking and warping. So...I'm going to call MS Hobbies to see if I can buy a new body. Quick reminder, everyone. SUN BAD!
  8. I'm not a big fan of using a dehydrator on metallic finishes. I've seen them dry in patches before. It makes the paint look bad. But I also know people who have had good luck with it too. As for making it glossier, the only thing I can recommend is Future Clear Acrylic. There's something in the enamel paints in their metallics so if you put a clear over the top it ruins the finish.

    Ferrari 430

Sorry for the late reply. Been out of town. I do several thin coat so it's more adhesive to the plastic. Plus it dries quicker. Also it is less likely to damage the plastic. I'll sand if the coat is very grainy. As for the thinning, you should have no problem using thinner that is appropriate for the primer that you use. The primer I use is a build-up primer. It was custom mixed for me by a local paint shop. I hope this helps.

    Ferrari 430

Thanks for the comments. I use a local guy who mixed up a custom primer for me. It's super thin so you end up spraying on several coats but it dries the same day. It doesn't seem to etch the plastic. Usually I can sand in a couple of hours of putting it on. Cobra Colors paint just works extremely well where I am located. All the temperature and humidity is perfect for it. Putting it in a dehydrator helps too. I ended up free handing the window trims, which I thought turned out half way decent; better than my usual stuff. As for the pearl blue, I was getting sick and tired of making red Ferraris. There's really not much to this kit at all. It's mainly black and tan for the interior. The body was so easy to clean up. Also helps when you stay up late. P.S. Ismael, I'm almost out of Cobra Colors Clear. Have enough to do maybe one or two more cars. Might have to switch to MCW's Clear.

    Ferrari 430

It's a Fujimi Ferrari 430. This was a quick fun build for me while I'm waiting for some paint to arrive. The paint is Cobra Colors WR Blue Pearl (Suburu WRX). Kit went together very well; minimal cleanup had to be done. Interior is a mixture of Tamiya Acrylics. Would highly recommend this kit. Feel free to comment.
  12. Try MCW (Model Car World). Look under the R8R Paints. He does have the silver listed. Or send him the picture of the paint you want and he'll match it for you. I've dealt with him several times and he delivers an outstanding product. http://ourworld-top.cs.com/mcwautofinishes/index.html
  13. Milt, Here's some pictures of a bike that I did with Duplicolor Chrome. It's only on the frame. It's decent but it won't be replacing Alclad any time soon. The main thing I dislike is that it is an enamel. It took over two weeks to completely cure. Other than that I would use it again for covering large areas, especially for the price.
  14. I think you're thinking of BHP Enterprises. He did the Mustang and the Jaguar.
  15. I mainly have been doing resin lately. It ends up costing quite a bit more. The price breakdown: $90 - 200 for model kit (I mainly do racing cars which are more expensive than a standard resin kit.) $10 - 50 for paint (I usually order a custom mix to match the cars I'm doing.) $10 - 20 for PE (Most of the photoetch is already in the kit.) $10 - 30 for after market parts (such as antenna mounts and decals) The totals would be $120 - 300. But a lot of these kits I'm building for other people, not just myself. The cost doesn't usually end up all on me. If I'm doing a plastic model, like a Tamiya kit, it's usually half of the price of the resin.
  16. What you have to understand about SPEED is that they are owned by NASCAR. As for the WRC, they were asking too much for the rights for the broadcast. The only reason you see F1 is that there are more fans of F1 than NASCAR. And even that looks like they might even stop showing F1. The funny thing, though, is that NASCAR is losing popularity. Over the past several years it has steadily dropped in the the TV ratings. There was a rumor, though, that the person who used to own SPEED was going to start another TV station that was just going to show all other motor sports including Vintage racing and no NASCAR. That was a couple of years ago. The only thing you can really do is keep writing to SPEED and complain about the lack of coverage of other motor sports.
  17. I'll try to get pictures taken by next week. Send me a PM with email address and I'll get them out to you.
  18. A friend of my family has a Datsun 1200. I might be able to get some good pictures for you. Let me know if you are interested.
  19. I wouldn't say it was rigged. It was just that Raul's name was the only one in the jar. Was great meeting everyone. Got back home yesterday. Hopefully the next time there's a get together, I'll be in the area again.
  20. Gregg, You've got to stop playing around with power tools. That's how accidents happen. That's good news to hear about your back being in good shape.
  21. As far as I know, a bunch of companies were doing it at that time. I think it was mainly an experiment. You see a lot of it in Bandai science fiction kits. Personally, I'm not a big fan of it. I plan to be there Sunday. Then I'll probably head on home that night. Nice long 8-hour drive. Is there anything you want me bring down? I'll be showing at the IPMS at the Santa Clara Convention Center on Saturday.
  22. Awesome build. I have done 2 of this version of the car and have done many more of other versions. It was rather nice that Tamiya gave you masking to do the paint scheme. Made my life a lot easier. I wouldn't even attempt to try this without the masking tape. To clarify, this kit was never a slot car. It was originally a FROM-A Porsche kit #24089. A lot of people get confused because it does not have an engine. If you have a copy of the complete works of Tamiya, it will show you everything they've made up to 2000 and there is no mention of the 962 ever being a slot car.
  23. I think Gregg had too much of the Happy Juice on Friday night and forgot to take the lens cap off his camera.
  24. Very nicely done. Love the slight weathering that you did. What color did you use for the weathering? Now you need to get one of the kits with the Bad Boy Vet decals when you are at the NNL.
