I used to have quite a big stash of models. Probably about 200 at one point. Working at a hobby shop, I used to get all the new stuff at a discount. Then I moved to Oregon. Working out of the house I have a lot of free time. I got tired of hiking and fishing all of the time. Now I think my stash is down to maybe 20. Usually when I get a kit, it is something I want to build right off the bat and a lot of times I have two or three kits going at the same time. I don't do a lot of modifications unless I have a customer that wants some changes. But I would like to get my stash built up again at some point.

Good to hear. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Got the first car primered. The other car is on my bench waiting to be cleaned up and primered. The Daytona car will have the exhaust out the side. And the high down force car will have the exhaust out the back. Some areas that running into issues with are that there are quite a few sink marks on the very bottom of the chassis. All of them need to be filled. Also the clear resin is a bit foggy which I'm going to attempt to buff out. But I'm not to worried about the clear resin on the high down force car as it will be filled in and puttied. An other issue of concern is the back louvers on the tail end of the car. They are not easy to clean up. Should have some paint on in the next couple of weeks. Should be an easy kit to paint since the colors are black and white.

Very nicely done kit.

my Jaguar Trans/Am. You know what you and Mr. Bauer did to it. (an inside joke)

Here's the pictures I promised. Yes, there is a stencil in the photoetch for the tire markings. I don't think the decals are Cartograph. I believe they are from Micro Scale, though I'm not really sure.

I'll take some pictures tonight. Is there anything in particular that you want to see?

Another person actually won the award for Best of Show but he was not there at the end to receive the award. They called his name out several times and waited about 10 minutes or so. From what I understand, if you're not there to receive the award it goes to the next person with the highest votes. The staff does not choose the winner. The people who attend the show and vote choose the winner. The staff does present Staff Awards which are papers that show the staff member's name and that he/she has chosen your car as one they liked. There are multiple awards for this. The people at the NNL West run probably the best show in my opinion.

Picked up two MS Hobbies Toyota kits from Mark at the NNL West. Will be doing two versions of the car. One will be the Daytona Winner #98 and the other will be the high down force car #99 that ran the circuit races. So far the kit looks really nice. Little more flashing than I'm used to from his kits, but it should clean up easily. I'll let you know how it goes during the build. This is a car I've always wanted to build. It's one of my favorite racing teams. Here is the pictures of what's inside the kit. More updates coming soon.

Thanks for the comments. Kit made it to the NNL West and made it back safely. I had some issues with some of my other cars on the way back home. My carrying case fell. But they were easy fixes.

It could have been worse. It could have been from the 60's. The flag would have been tie dye.

This was the other kit that I was working on along side the Peugeot. Took me so long to get the black paint, I had time to build this car.

Thanks everyone for the comments. fordsixty, Shouldn't be afraid of resin. Just find a good kit and give it a try. You'll find it just like working on a plastic kit once your get the hang of it.

How do you want it sent? Fixed the problem. Breathing in the paint fumes too much. Time to get new filters for my respirator. Thanks for the comments.

Kit is Studio 27's Peugeot 908 Le Mans 2007. It's a decent kit but had quite a few small issues with it. Such as, some of the PE was incorrect in scale. Also had some issues with the wing uprights. Also fit issures with the body going to the chassis...very tight in the back. The paints used were Tamiya's TS-26, TS-49, and TS-14 decanted and airbrushed. The decals were decent though I did not use any of the red striping for the body. Was easier to paint the stripes in. You can follow along in the build on the Workbench Section. Would recommend this kit. Feel free to comment.

This is a Scale Designs resin kit of the Greenwood Corvette Spirit of Le Mans '76. Kit was a very good kit. Easy to build. Took me about 3 weeks to do. Paints used were Tamiya's TS-26 and TS-15 decanted and airbrushed. Decals were very easy to put on...a nice surprise. I was expecting it to be a little harder, especially in the back. The only hangup I had was that my kit did not have the windows for it. They were easy to make with a sheet of acetate. I would recommend this kit to anyone interested in this type of car. Feel free to comment. Be as brutal as you like. Hope this is up to Ismael's approval.

CAL, The prototypes within the next year will all be close couped. Lola has produced a closed coupe which many teams will be running this next season. Ariel, Due to the time constraints, I'm not going to put a dull coat over the black. If I do this kit again, I'll probably do it in carbon fiber. Let me know when you start your kit since there are a couple of problem areas that you need to keep an eye out for.

Got the chassis and body together. Big time fit issues. Also major problems with the wing uprights. Had to remount them in a different position than what the directions tell you to do. Should have the rest of the window decals on by tomorrow. Next time you see this, it will be in the Underglass Section. Thanks for your comments.

Should see it next weekend. Fingers crossed.

The car is basically a Renault Formula 1 car with a body on it. As for the reason why they dropped out of WRC, from what I understood is that it was getting too expensive for them. They were basically competing against themselves, both as Peugeot and Renault. On top of that certain cars were being handicapped to try to level out the field.

Can't wait to see it at the NNL. Now you need to do an FXX as your next kit.

Got the decals on this weekend. They went down pretty well, except for a couple of the areas on the bottom where it had to be wrapped around a corner. Decals are super thin and easy to tear, but the white is opaque enough so the black doesn't show through. Was adding some of the photoetch and it seems like they mis scaled the photoetch in relation to the car. Very noticeable on the exhaust plates. Shot the clear coat last night. Should be dry in a day or so. Then I'll start assembling it. The pictures are of the car right after I decaled the kit. The PE is really noticeable for the exhaust. It should go all the way to the bottom. I added a piece of foil.

Beautiful looking car. How did you like the Scale Production Transkit? I was thinking about maybe picking one up.

Master Builders Challange

I have a good idea for you for the build. An AMC Pacer painted pea green with yellow and gold flame highlights on the side. Think that would be something that no one else would ever make. It's definitely out of the ordinary. -
Blasphemy, I say. This looks like it's going to be an interesting build.
